Off Topic: Remember Ron Rivera on "All or Nothing"?
HaricotVert replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I wont often comment on a coddled generation and participation trophies but this sort of begs for it. Also how did an athlete achieve at that level without getting a thicker skin? -
Right, basically what I said. Dude is crowning Dan after a 5-12 season and 1 draft, which as of right now, wasn’t good. I wasn’t judging Morgan at all. People read what they want to read like that I loved Gettleman and think he was awesome. Nope. All I said is that it’s way too freaking early to act like Morgan is amazing. I used the Gettleman/Rivera record just like I mentioned that Rhule almost beat both #1 seeds in this first year. Morgan/Canales’ team would need to win 11 a year to get to a similar record as Gettleman/Rivera’s first 5. If you are going to given Morgan a pass for bad talent, we were 15-33 the 3 years prior to Gettleman/Rivera. Again, I think all of us want this team to win again but maybe I’m a little jaded in thinking that I enjoyed 2013-2017 a helluva a lot more than 2018-2024 and I’m not a fan of smoke getting blown up my ass like we have already back.

Highlights start @ 0:43 Fun seeing TMac and XL joking around. Excited to see how the young WR room (and AT) develop this upcoming season.

PSA: Don't mess around with infections
LinvilleGorge replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Huddle Lounge
Just a reminder that if you have any type of weird sore that's getting worse fast, don't dilly dally get your ass to a doctor. I'm about the last person to run to the doctor for something but this poo can kill you and it can happen fast. Caught early when it's localized it's a round of antibiotics and no big deal but if it gets in the bloodstream you're in trouble. Former national champion wrestler and UFC fighter Ben Askren is in the hospital in critical condition from a runaway staph infection. https://www.on3.com/pro/news/former-mma-star-two-time-ncaa-wrestling-champion-ben-askren-hospitalized-unable-to-respond/ -
It's not like we get a poll on who should be a star. She rose to the top for various reasons. I don't think XL is Denzel, but he apparently moves the needle for enough ladies to get this kind of attention. Appeal is a package deal, and she racks up enough points or we wouldn't be talking about her. It's not like being attractive is a mandatory trait for being a musician/rapper.

Or, that's just what the history of this franchise has given us.

I understand this perspective, although, like I have expressed before, he had earned his opportunity.
-
I mean everyone has their opinion but all in all this is a pretty bonkers statement all things considered.

Welcome to a message board. Unfortunately it’s one of the side effects of posting here. I for one hope you stay.

The chatter, rightly, was that we were promoting from within a losing regime and perhaps we needed a clean sweep.
-
Our DB room this year is essentially our Dline room from last year. We have zero depth and a bunch of jags. If Horn goes down in the same fashion Brown did last year. Then it’s gonna be another tough defensive season. On the bright side on paper we actually have a really strong offense. I’m expecting some shootouts this year, this isn’t your typical stout defensive and ground and pound offensive Panthers team we’re all accustomed to.

You're as quick to judge Morgan as others are. You can't condemn the 2024 Draft class after their rookie season. Nor can you blame Morgan for the 5 win season - we were completely talent deprived when he arrived. We have to judge Morgan (and the Draft picks) after 3 seasons.

Phucking soft ass beatches. -
I didn't declare Dan the GOAT. I stated, we have the best front office this team has enjoyed. It's cool that you disagree, but don't come at me trying to trash on my perspective. I've been a Panther fan long before they took their first snap ever. Gentleman was a joke. Peace.

I have not watched the video. Rather, I was lucky enough to listen live when it was broadcast. I remember once he was getting gas at the next pump over from me. Always 1 of my favorites. Even when he ran down to New Orleans to try to make their squad after getting released here. I didn't want him to be the gm. I am tired of seeing Panther legends dragged down by the remarkable losing this team manages to do.
-
Oh yeah, and so much for not being him...

Sometimes you've got to make do with what's in the cupboard. Improvements on D-line can go a long way to helping out those DBs and Safeties.

I find this discussion somewhat interesting. I have eclectic music tastes. I don't care for genuine gangsta rap all that much, but I dabble here and there due to my son. Personally, I listen to mash-ups a lot between country and hip-hop. This isn't even necessarily a good one (from what I'll call a lyric-transition standpoint ), but it has GloRilla in it. Some of the mash-ups are a lot better though.

Rodgers couldn't get back to the Super Bowl in his best years in the NFC which has weakened significantly over the last decade. The odds of him leading the Steelers to a deep postseason run in this iteration of the AFC with pissed off teams out looking for revenge like the Chiefs Bills and Ravens is nil.

I mean, I've heard the same thing about him from a woman, so...beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've also heard you g kids say she is attractive. I think that her persona is somewhat...uh, thuggeg-ou-err, masculine...and that may cloud or even define perceptions of her in the minds of many, especially older guys. I try to get past it.

I mean, we are gonna stink at some positions. We have a bad roster, so you just have to expect that on a cellar dwelling team. The hope is that it's a net improvement over last season. If we accomplish that, I am good. I don't want to see Rhule era panic and more outgoing draft capital in another foolish "a couple of pieces away" campaign.

Worse than Gabriel is insane. That's "about to be out of the league" status. That draft really will go down as the worst class in NFL history for QB's. If it wasn't for Purdy, there wouldn't be a single NFL QB in the entire thing. But, the most impressive of all is us picking the only one of them that ended up never seeing an NFL game. #TepperMagic

With Morgan, I see a plan. No, you don't measure the GM at this point in terms of wins and losses--but we will later. I thought Hurney sucked in free agency and was sub par after round 1 of the draft. When Fox was a lame duck and did not inform the GM, Hurney drafted Jimmy Clausen and moved up for Armanti Edwards. He started trading away future first rounders when he got desperate (to get Otah and then drafted Everette Brown the following year) Gettlemen was the "one-year contract" guy. The players hated him. Fitterer was terrible. It is too early to tell with Morgan, so you have to look at the pieces. Our OL was bad, now our OL is good. WR was a weakness--now WR seems to be a strength. DL was bad, now DL should be very good. Pass rush was bad, we have 2 solid rookies and added Wonnum and Jones. I think Morgan has had 2 solid drafts, especially in rounds 3-7. He has had 2 good seasons bringing in UDFAs, imo. The team went from terrible in 2024 to taking the two super bowl teams down to the wire late. The energy is positive. The wins will come.

MHS831 started following Canales Addresses CB position
-
https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/06/04/panthers-2025-otas-dave-canales-cornerback-free-agency/84016482007/?link_source=ta_first_comment&taid=6840193aa1ae9c000185ac12 I have been curious about the position, wondering if Jackson, Horn, and Smith-Wade were going to be enough. The reporter asks a good question, especially in light of all the Jalen Ramsey rumors. To me, the big questions concerned depth players Evans and Bartholomew. As for the UDFA, I have been waiting to hear about Thornton and Reid, but there does not seem to have been a lot of urgency to draft a CB or bring in a free agent. Morgan basically re-signed Jackson and locked up Horn. A few highlights from the article: Canales mentioned Evans, Bartholomew, and Thornton by name. He seems satisfied that Evans and Bartholomew are the key reserves. Thornton, based on reading tea leaves about his comments, has flashed, but might be on the outside looking in. Personally, in the limited action Evans and Bartholomew played last season, I was optimistic, and it seems Canales feels the same. He mentions that Smith-Wade is playing inside and outside. If he steps up, that is good news. It seems as though they really like Jackson because Canales seemed to focus on CB depth in his answer. Coaches have to be careful answering questions like this one--If the coach mentions your name, great, but if he does not, it hurts morale. If he says, "We'd like to upgrade the position" it can also hinder motivation. Canales did not mention SDSU CB Mike Reid. IN RELATED NEWS I recently read that the Canales likes the battle between Ransom and Richardson for the other safety position beside Moehrig. Not sure we will be upgrading that position at this time. Remember, the DBs play better when the front 7 plays better. PROJECTED DB ROSTER ENTERING CAMP CB: Horn, Jackson, Smith-Wade, Bartholomew, Evans--Practice Squad Candidates: Thornton, Reid S: Moehrig, Ransom, Richardson, xxxxxx- I expect Henderson, Gifford, or Thomas (all UDFAs) will battle Scott for the final safety position.
