It's not just Canales. With analytics and the current kickoff rules there's much more incentive to go for it. The team ahead of us with 41 is the Jets but they were only successful 43.9% of the time. Bills tried it 32 times with a 59% conversion rate. Eagles only 21 times with a 52.4% conversion rate.

The Texans have badly botched their situation on offense. They had an awful OL in 2024 so what do they do? They trade the one player on the OL that was good (Laremy Tunsil) and fire the O.C. who was helping Stroud develop into a good QB. C.J. Stroud looked absolutely broken yesterday. Like he just wanted the game to be over with. Maybe Ryans was threatened by Bobby Slowik? That could explain why he gutted the offense and redirected all the resources into "his" side of the ball on defense.

So 13 turnovers on downs? And how many of those were they just trying to pick up 2-3 yards? it’s an interesting quirk of Canales philosophy and I’m not sure what to make of it yet. I don’t think it’s sustainable. And for the record I've absolutely hated the bills ever since they started siphoning off our organization. That was a ridiculous call and wasn't consistent with the precise, exact same situation that occurred with the Rams and Bears last night.
