  1. Past hour
  2. Pretty sure Joe Flacco played his 5th year without an extension in place. I think they tried to lowball him and he bet on himself. It has happened before but that one comes to mind since he won a Super Bowl with the Ravens.
  3. It is a little incongruent to see ‘not in place to make demands’ next to the sentiment of extension candidate. Yeah no one disputes that he has played well in places. Very well in a couple. But a whole lot of it is not what you want your NFL team to be putting on the field.
  4. your argument is entirely hypothetical because, obviously, it hasnt happened yet. what now?
  5. Good to see merit winning out here. Maybe XL roars back or finds him a place in the third WR spot. He's got some serious competition for it though with Horn, Jr. and Tremayne. And you can't tell me that David Moore doesn't know how to fight and compete for a roster spot. Work, man. Woulda been easier for him out of the gate rather than here at the end of the season.
  6. He got the wake-up call. We’ll see if he can answer. I fear that he won’t but we need depth and backups too. He can do that. He can have a good game we have seen it.
  7. At this moment, Bryce is not in a place to make demands. He has shown flashes but he has also played pretty badly at times. He is on the cusp of earning a contract but has to show more consistency. Now if he goes off in the playoffs, well I guess that would change things.
  8. I'll go with the odds over hypothetical situations
  9. Personally, I think he will go back to the 49ers in some role or will end up with the Rams.
  10. Superb Owl But in all seriousness this is great news.
  11. Bro if there is one thing we know for sure its that his awareness is nonexistent. I feel bad for him. Has all the tools except the one that matters most... a brain.
  12. cmon man... if the team doesnt give him one then thats what they will have to do. If he wants to sit he can and he will be in the same spot the next year. just cause you say its never happened doesnt mean it cant or wont.
  13. I don't think either are very good HCs. One is a very good OC. McD has potential but his ego showed up hard with a tad of success, Flores D and his O was good for 2 years. I don't see any real potential from Canales. Even with a great QB he would still be the weak link from a lack of talent. McD does have tallent but he didn't put the work in and it showed. Ego, other personality failures, complacency? IDK but there is talent there. Not sure he will every really tap into it either.
  14. Yeah he is sunk cost. No point in not seeing if he can be of help. I think he can be. If he wasn’t aware of his weak hold on the starting spot, he is now Competition for snaps is what we need to have in all the rooms.
  15. Yeah I'm still not sure about Canales' play calling but I'll give him another season. Still can't quite figure out why you think Young won't work out. His numbers with Theilen are as good as any QB Theien's ever had - including the three games he has started with Rogers this year. Cokers' numbers are as good as Theilens and he is an UDFA and TMac is in the run for ORTY with Young as his QB. Young's throwing more accurately now (from 21.5% in 23 to 16.5% this year) and he has shown he can make the throws in clutch moments. If you take into account he was saddled with XL, Chark, Mingo and Johnson for receivers at one point, had a coaching staff his first year that didn't want him and a current coach who is suspect at play calling, I'm not sure he has been as bad as people here say. I know he has had terrible moments/games but most qb's still on their rookie contract will. Anyway, had to give my weekly BY plug. Guess I thought this was the perfect time lol.
  16. He missed a lot of time. Was slow getting back up to speed. And we have an offense that is not exactly WR friendly so his targets were low. How many targets does anyone get when you have 120 yards passing, 54 yards passing, 160 yards, most of the time? It probably took the time it needed to take.
  17. The 5th year option jus gives them a little more time to make their decision and figure out the position going forward. The idea that it means hes def gonna get a extension is asinine.
  18. this train of thought selectively ignores that Bryce is a literal physical anomaly in the NFL though. No amount of time will change that.
  19. I have a hard time believing that Canales will ever give up OC duties. I think he knows that his success as a HC is directly tied to his play calling. Why would you risk your job and put it in another person's hands? He is going to sink or swim based on his play calling.
  20. Do you think Bryce and his agent will go into 2027 with no contract?
  21. what are they gonna get? a 2048 7th rounder? Just keep him, hes cheap, maybe he can become something. Prob not but they are not gonna get anything for him so might as well be patient and see if the light comes on. Sometimes WRs to figure it out in year 3.
  22. His agent will likely not see it that way and I am afraid the team won’t want to rock the boat. Like I said somewhere else, if he really rises to the playoff occasion I am okay with giving him the job next year and if he really kills it I would begrudgingly accept the 5th year. But that is what this whole year has been about and it has been up and down and a couple of excellent games and then poverty again. Purgatory where you don’t have certainty. It is no secret that I have never had any faith in him, it is a very tough sell.
  23. I'd like him as an OC, he's a bright offensive mind. But as an overall HC I don't think he's any better right now with 4 years experience than Canales is with 2 years. Sure, look at raw records if you want. But Canales inherited the biggest disaster team in the league while McDaniel inherited a very solid team that was coming off 10 and 9 win seasons, and he proceeded to do absolutely nothing with them aside from like a month and a half stretch one year where Tua was playing lights out.
  24. The 5th year option is a no brainer Bryce is only 24 years old. A lot of QB’s start coming into their own around the 25-27 age range assuming the situation around them isn’t a complete dumpster fire. Some of this falls on Canales to understand the strengths and weaknesses with Young’s game and call plays accordingly
