Look at a team like the Texans who already have two playoff wins after being one play away from the first overall pick less than 3 years ago. Their oldest backup QB at any point since drafting Stroud is 26 years old. He also has a playoff win. Their wide receivers have never been older than 31 and that was Diontae Johnson last year as nothing more than a depth move after an injury who is anything but a veteran mentor. Beyond that virtually every receiver has been 23-27. They have one guy right now who is 29 the same age as Renfro. They have talent but they do not have head and shoulders that much more talent than the Panthers and they do not rely on aging veterans to a fault. At some point we cannot keep making excuses for our FO and staff.

Happy hockey season and football season are so close together. If the Panthers suck, still have the Canes at least until post season. -

10/10. It's Panther football. New season. Life is short. -
it's good nap time if they are crapping the bed

This one is mildly surprising given how well he has played the past few years. If we aren't completely settled with Smith-Wade as our nickel, then I'd want to bring him in for a visit.
-
Man, that guy went down the tubes quickly. I honestly thought he was gonna be pretty good.
-
Agreed if Bryce struggles again you let DC draft his QB. There should be several options in this class.
-
I think it's a myth you absolutely need vets at those positions just for your young talent to display even marginal levels of competency. It's a cop out for your coaching staff who should be up to the task.
-
Morgan at this point is just an extension of Tepper. I get the sense the only way they move on from Bryce is if he looks horrific across the bulk of the season and forces their hand. They are dug in on justifying the pick and the trade. They've done everything possible to telegraph that to anyone observing. If they do move on though we should expect a seeking instant results splash type move. That fits the MO so far. That could very well be an FA or a trade. And if we're being honest if all that happened maybe it would be for the best because it would truly drive him how inept this franchise is at developing a young QB across multiple coaching staffs. And the fact is they hired Canales to be a QB whisperer and so far we haven't seen it.

The trade we need to make right now per Enzo Flojo

And we will even throw in Plummer also -
It's crazy that you don't understand the value of having those type of players when the rest of those position rooms are as young as they are. Coaches coach, on the field and in the film room. But players need vets to teach them the ropes about how to go about being a professional football player at their position. They need the locker room mentorship, a place the coaches are only in on Gamedays. Coaches run the drills, they can only coach up so many players between reps when they're also running the drill. Vets like Thielen pull the young player aside and help coach them up between reps. Thielen is one of the most "a pro's pro" guys of his generation, he had a hall of very good type of career as an undrafted D2 player who had to make his way in the league by out working and being more precise than the other players. If Renfrow wasn't here to take on that role, this wouldn't even be a starting discussion for me, 4 of our Top 6 WRs are rookies or in their 2nd year, they need a Thielen and/or Renfrow around to help them reach their potential.

Even if we wanted to make this trade, there is no way in hell the Falcons would give him to us, a division rival, for a day 3 pick... -

Meh, not that excited. I'm happy it's football season but I don't have many expectations for the Panthers. -
He would be a fool not to draft one. This should be a good class and it restarts his clock. Plus what vet free agent do you think is going to move the needle? I think if Bryce stumbles this year they clear out the qb room and let DC and Dan completely start over. Thus starting their clocks within the org. I guess the big question is, what is their threshold or expectations that they have to see from BY to commit to him moving forward? And is that in the form of an ext or simply picking up his 5th?

Cleveland released CB Darius Rush

Saints released RB Cam Akers

Dolphins released CB Mike Hilton

It depends on what version of bad we are getting. Can't have the locker room tearing apart over it.
-
I think that depends more on how high our pick is. If we have the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd pick i think we are drafting a QB rather than shopping FA market for a QB1. Curious if we’d be reluctant to start a rookie QB week 1 though.
-
Hurney 2.0 and Fitts were so bad I don't know if it was intentional or they were that abysmally clueless. Fittershits panicked repeatedly being on the back end of positional runs while Hurney couldn't evaluate anyone outside of the 1st. I can't figure out why Plummer still has a jersey. There's no reason. Dalton brings nothing to the table. If another QB gets cut that has given a glimmer of anything better than what we have, we should look, and that goes for every position. I cant get over how much different this team could have been with a competent GM and having accepted the Rams offer for Burns. This franchise could have gone in a totally different direction.
-
I thought tanking wasn't actually a thing and we were firmly against it though?
-
I think they are watching to see who’s going to be available before they make theirs official. Probably working trades too. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t cut anyone today.
-
You seem to have a very loose definition of good. Understandable being a Panthers fan. But turning down draft compensation for aging veterans with no future is a move perpetual losing franchises make.
