  1. Past hour
  2. This team finally managed to go from bad to mediocre and now you guys want to go back to bad because you want a worse qb that can throw a football further. Makes complete sense.
  3. Or this I’d absolutely take a downfield pick if it meant we were pushing the ball.
  4. People point at Howell's 21 INTs with Washington and says he sucks and is incredibly turnover prone but ignore that 11 of them came when Washington was down multiple scores and in YOLO comeback mode.
  5. when you are talking about the Panthers current Qbs & other teams backups it's like OK I don't really like any of these options at Qb but let me go ahead & pick the lesser of two evils . I& Bryce Young has been a turnover machine throughout his NFL career & so has Wintson this situation should have been handled way before now so this isĺ what you call last minute patchwork & I am cool to roll with Andy Dalton or fine also with Howell or even Winston ...just saying
  6. Certainly but the TO prone guys also tend to take the wind out of the sails of their teammates in pretty quick fashion. Certainly wouldn't argue they will get many more chances, especially since we would be pretty far behind in most of our matchups. Not gonna argue against Winston's ability either. I don’t think the growth of these guys is likely getting as stunted as you assume. As stated above, the morale issue is likely going to weigh heavier on them than you think.
  7. I just don't see any point in getting your hopes up. If Dan Morgan were actually as concerned about the QB room as much as many fans here are he would have done literally anything more than the effort that was essentially a shrug this year and last year.
  8. I'll take an arm punt over a strip sack any day of the week tbf.
  9. Yep, exact same thing as last year, fans and the team will see the Wins, remember he "lead game winning drives" (despite him not even throwing a pass on some of those drives), and forget how he actually looked in those games and the paltry passing numbers he put up in them. Then they'll say "well we had a winning record before he got hurt and then the high ankle sprain affected his play the rest of the season and was the reason he struggled, so when he's healthy next year, he'll be great again" This has disaster written all over it
  10. Theres a line of thinking that long interceptions aren’t actually that bad anymore in the modern nfl. he also threw 33 touchdowns that year.
  11. Yeah but that was an abnormal situation. Flacco wasn't getting the results and wasn't going to be a part of their future. There isn't an equivalent situation that makes us better or makes sense for us. Especially not at a bargain bin price. You want to trade for a guy like Tua? Well....good luck with the price AND the contract. There is a dearth of quality starting QB's. That also means there aren't a bunch of them sitting on the bench elsewhere.
  12. A QB throwing INT's has no bearing on the growth of his pass catchers, it just kills a team's chances of winning games. For all his problems as a QB, Jameis still has one of the strongest arms in the league and is also one of the most fearless throwers of the ball as well (which is part of his problem). Our WRs and TEs would get peppered with targets at all levels, something Bryce isn't able to do and I don't think Dalton necessarily has it left in him anymore either. THAT would 100% expedite their growth, there's no question about it.
  13. I was all for giving Chubba the opportunity to regain his starting position, after all we gave him a nice contract. However, the difference in our offense with Rico compared to Hubbard was like comparing night and day. Rico runs with a purpose of not losing yards, EVER. It's nice to have two good running backs but loyalty to a paycheck compared to output is absolutely stupid. Canales has to face the reality that Rico is a better back and should be treated that way. To the point where I want us to lock him up for several years. Maybe next year if Brooks comes along, we can trade Hubbard at the trade deadline next year.
  14. It won't lead to wins but it'll give our WRs a chance to do something other than 10 yard routes.
  15. There’s better backup qb options, just gotta kick some tires, hell look what Joe Flacco went for in the same division
  16. Chucking 25+ INT's isn't as conducive to growth as you think.
  17. We have an outside chance of being competitive against the Bills simply because our strength is running the ball and they're abysmal at defending the run. We're gonna have to grind it out and try to keep Josh Allen on the sidelines though. We're still struggling to rush the passer and Allen will probably eat. Catching the Bills coming off of a bye week following a disappointing loss is a pretty shitty draw though. We'll see...
  18. I don't think it matters who "starts" but this stupid "one drive for you, one drive for you" is moronic. Split carries, put them on the field at the same time, etc. This is not the way to handle it.
  19. It's unfortunate he got injured. Of course he's banked just under $40 million here so as an NFL player he'll be alright in the long run.
  20. Better at piling up yards but also far better at piling up TO's. That's why those guys are currently 3rd string QB's. It looks great when it's working and it looks really bad when it isn't.
  21. It means do it again. Like....several times a season, preferably. You know, like a first round draft pick is supposed to? As far as that as being some unachievable metric, at least that many receptions was accomplished in 6 games by other first round rookie WR's and at least that many yards was accomplished in 13 games by other first round rookies last season. And that was just last year, I can assure you that has happened several times with those same players this year already. So acting like this is some startlingly rare production is more than a bit ridiculous.
  22. Bryce Young is averging only 184 yards per game right now through his first 7 games & so if u get another Qb like Winston or Howell I just can't imagine either one of them not only being better than Andy Dalton but Bryce Young also truth be known Andy Dalton is probably better than Bryce Young & will average more than 184 yards per game...just saying
