yeah, Steve was basically like on any actual topic that approached his flaws/problems.....89 went with the long winded, try to sound like a wise man strategy of just basically just pleading the 5th (and sprinkling in the idea that others could of been wrong or wrong too). also, in terms of the assaults and stuff like that....it feels like old 89, I feel has sort of forgotten his well-documented confessions and apologies about that aspect and era of his and was trying to re-write his story/image in hindsight. And in all honesty, it seemed like a PR move on the twitter/cheating stuff also attempting to play himself as not the bad guy some think with the intentional vague suggestions. and the Pivot and all these athlete moves to basically take the reigns and power from traditional outlets exposes they have just as bad as flaws if not more often than the traditional media folks. I mean I do like the free form long talk when dudes are telling stories but all this stuff is largely flawed and controlled PR often.

Sadly, I agree and I’m a huge Melo fan. Might be time to ship him out. Don’t want to make the same mistakes the Pels did. They should’ve gotten rid of Zion two years ago.
-
I forgot he was on the team and I'm pulling for him, but the statistics are not in his favor. Some guys can recover from injuries and others cannot and let's hope Brooks is the former. He was a beast in high school and college.
-
Steve is a big reason I became a Panther fan but I heavily resent him for leaving after 2013 bc he couldn’t put his ego aside and share the spotlight with Cam. Steve on that 2015 team wins us the SB bc he wouldn’t let the Broncos bs slide.
-
I wish he and Cam would go away and I loved watching both of them play, but I can't stand to hear them commentate or give interviews. Both seem like real jerks when the cameras are not around and especially Smitty.

Does Bryce deserve credit for game-winning drives?
Navy_football replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
This past Sunday is definitely a ceiling and required big plays from WRs, TEs and RBs after the catch. I don't feel like Canales was hiding Bryce. It was more like Bryce was playing like he didn't trust his receivers. Playing not to lose instead of playing to win. He has to get out of that mindset, because he's a much better QB when he goes out there as a playmaker. Granted early on in the season, the pass pro was not up to par and Bryce couldn't figure out how to take a sack without fumbling the dang ball. -
He consistently hits his 2nd or 3rd read you literally do not know ball
-
New Orleans and Atlanta were some of the worst rush defenses too Everyone is just selling out as hard as possible because of how bad Bryce Young has been. If the team wants to open it back up at the LOS, it's going to take Bryce taking what they give him week in and week out. Case on point, after that insane performance Sunday, his game CPOE was -0.7%. Translation: He basically took the opportunities given to him. He wasn't threading it into tight windows or making bananas throws. He was just simply taking advantage of the Falcons lack of faith in his ability to throw. That has to continue.

Great WR, HoF worthy, but I hope Luke gets in first
-
Nah, that "hurting the team" is on Dave Canales. An NFL team isn't an egalitarian entity. Dave should be the one recognizing this sort of thing. TBH, his cycle of realization typically seems to be measured in days and weeks and never in real time during a game. He is gonna have to fix that or his future as an NFL HC will be very bleak.
-
We have one of the better run OLs in the league and played susceptible run defenses. He took full advantage. While Chuba was coming off injury. Part of the reason I wasn’t getting excited about a soon to be 28 year old back. Just gotta take it a week at a time and see how the rest of the year unfolds. It’s the RB position so we really shouldn’t get hyped about it unless we’ve got a Gibbs or Taylor situation on our hands.
-
IIRC, he is the only NFL player to ever do so. Or at least he was.
-
Yeah, from a team building perspective, he is a very minor factor in the future plans. From a human perspective, you certainly hope he eventually gets his career started, even if it isn't with us.
-
Yeah they had some great topics and questions for him to address, but every one of them just let Steve say what he wanted to, even if it made zero sense. No follow-up. No contradiction. Nothing. Made for a frustrating watch. And unfortunately for them, if they don't condemn his actions, it makes them look indifferent to them, or even supportive in some instances. Not a good look.
-
I am puling hard for him to be the back he once was but a twice-torn ACL is a tough thing to bounce back from, and he may not ever have the same explosiveness.
-
I know teams have been selling out to stop the run, but Ricos kind of fallen off a cliff.. not sure if hes hurt or just worn down but even when theres a hole he doesnt look anything like he did those few weeks prior.
-
nah, that's basically saying people can't call a spade a spade. Which is crazy. 89 is not a good dude. He might have done a couple good things but it will never erase what he has proven to be in front of the world. I tell my kid all the time not to view celebrity athletes as anything but people that play a sport well. Lot of garbage humans play on Sunday. And you have no clue who the good guys actually are. PR in today's world is also powerful. There was a window when Deshawn Watson checked every good guy box that could have ever existed from the public's perspective.

Some folks say it's because teams are playing more shell defenses preventing more longer passes. The analytics folks would rather you pass for 7 years every down. As you state, the crop of QBs is mixed as far as quality. I think when you put it all together, it's a recipe for less passing yards.
-
I got this same feeling. His body language and his face didn't say happy, even when he was trying to smile and joke around.
-
I'm also worried about the long time off of football. In his limited snaps with the team, he had some spark. I'd love for him to pan out, but I'm also not pretending it's a certainty one way or another. He'll have next spring to show that he belongs or not. He's 22, 23 in July. He's still a kid. I think you have to give him a shot this spring in camp. Maybe he makes the roster, maybe he doesn't. He's such a nice kid, I'm rooting for him.

Perfect! or Cioppino! Sour dough bread. Take-out Chinese would also be really appropriate considering that Chinatown is such a big part of the whole San Fran vibe.

Hubbard says he might have rushed back
PleaseCutStewart replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Chuba's problem for the games he looked bad is that he looked hesitant and didn't know where to run. He actually seemed to be thinking less and just running Sunday, which helped. -
the 49ers are likely our worst matchup of the season....
PleaseCutStewart replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think one of them (maybe Rozeboom) is the green dot responsibility and calling our plays, so they can't come out. ATL is a tougher matchup also because they have big bodied receivers (I think that is why Smith-Wade rode the bench a lot of the game). My bigger problem was Evero reverting back to his old self only calling the same cover 3 drop the entire 1st half. Played way too far back off the line of scrimmage and ATL just kept sneaking a curl route (usually London) in under a corner/go route and it was always open. Evero finally changed up the scheme in the 2nd half and the D actually looked somewhat competent (also helped Penix got hurt) -
If we get anything at all from him at this point it would be a positive. He will have not really played in 2+ years, if/when he is cleared to return.
-
I feel like TD is the rare exception to someone suffering 3 ACL injuries and somehow coming back to be a dominant player for years afterwards. Probably not looking good for Brooks being a contributor. ACL injuries for a RB, where you constantly have to plant and be a 1-cut RB, makes it even more unlikely
