There was a popular narrative here especially last year about Bryce being good when it didn’t count; a lot of people pushed back, of course.
-
QBs drafted in the top 2 rounds after 2023 Williams Maye Daniels Dart Shough IMO, all have put shown to have a higher ceiling than Bryce in the NFL and done so in a shorter window than he has had. So basically, we only would have screwed up drafting Penix or JJ and kept all of our assets. The trade up and cost of Bryce should rightfully go down as the worst move in franchise history.
-
I’d take Shough’s first 8 or whatever it is over the entire first two years of Bryce. And most of this year. Want an over reaction? Not sure it is, but: Swap teams for Shough and Bryce for our two games we would be 2-0 not 0-2. The guy Shough replaced might beat Bryce out.

Fitz has the volume stats but Steve Smith was a better player. Larry just got to pad his stats in ARZ being over targeted. Larry was targeted more Smiths career high targets over 9 separate seasons, never eclipsing 1500 yds. Smith is top 5 in 100yd games (ahead of Larry) and the only WR ever to lead the lead in YPG on a team dead last in pass attempts.

If you want to feel better about Bryce, go watch the Louisiana Tech QB in their bowl game.
-
Just like Bryce they traded up to get him so you have to prove yourself right I guess. If you just sat and took what came your way you could explain your case as to why you took them but they might need more time. Trading up in the first you gotta own it as a pick you think is an impact player. Obviously neither one have lived up to that billing
-
Yeah those guys usually seem genuinely frustrated that they can't figure out what's not clicking yet, and put a lot of work in. All I see from XL in the offseason is running as fast as possible on a treadmill or something which actually looks super dangerous and pointless
-
Because sitting a first round pick when an undrafted guy is on the field makes his in-house backers look like fools. 'We traded up for his 5th but he can't beat out the guy we got off of the discount pile' probably doesn't sound great to the bosses.
-
Why did he get a custom sandwich in the stadium before he even played a snap this year? After a mediocre rookie season?
-
Not putting any effort in after that first year leaves little hope for me. I do think people can learn regardless of age. Look at the QBs that took years to turn it around. Hell Norman was closer to 30 before his play ever hit good here. XL just comes off as dumb ( at football) and lazy (effort all around).
-
The real question is why did he ever start? Cant players earn their starting position for this team? The egos of our front office must be really fragile to just pencil in starters because of draft position. Lets try to win for a change.
-
I definitely wouldn't' say he is a franchise QB. but for a rookie QB, 8 starts into his career.......you gotta like what you are seeing from him. Because regardless of competition, he is playing at high level given the circumstances (rookie that came in on a bad team) I've been impressed by both Shough and Dart
-
Who is actually the best team in the NFC South?
X-Clown replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh Shough has earned the starting role to pencil him in as next year's starter, they are going to have plenty of other holes they will have to fill first. But again, small sample size, against meidocre to bad teams with little pressure to perform - let's see what happens when more people have film on him. I'm not saying he's a guaranteed bust but I also think most of the board who is already labeling him a franchise QB that we missed on are overreacting to the two games they watched against our inconsistent team. -
Im not getting worked up over anything. I was simply answering your question. I gave a very plausible reason why someone could root for us to lose on Saturday. We have a very reactionary owner who's acted on emotion several times. I don't think it's at all out of the realm of possibility that an Atlanta type game could result in a long term extension. It happens. Tepper's an owner that's gotten it wrong virtually every step of the way for 8 years. It's not a huge leap to think he wouldn't jump at the opportunity to sign Bryce long term after a "i knew it" moment.

Nope. Burns never made any game changing plays that I can think of. He was all hype.
