  2. Ryan Day is basically Dabo Swinney fully embracing the new era of college football and the portal. He's a recruiter and program builder, not a great Xs and Os type of coach. The way this new era is shaping up, I honestly think it may evolve more toward the Xs and Os type coaches and away from the stereotypical cheereleading motivating type of coach that has come to largely define the college game. These top programs can't pile up 4 and 5 star recruits throughout their depth charts anymore. If that guy isn't starting he's gonna take a bag elsewhere and transfer. It used to be that very top teams were just head and shoulders better than everyone else and a lot of that had to do with their depth. Their twos were better than most teams' ones.
  3. Not sure how high we're gonna be on Fano to be honest. We seem like we prefer bigger mauler types of OL. Fano is the opposite of that.
  4. I don't think we should get caught up in dropped pass statistics when we watched all the games. The eye test with XL is that he's not dependable. He drops easy passes. He makes low football IQ moves like stepping out bounds, penalties, etc. He also seems like he's running in quick sand sometimes out there. Compare it to when we would give Jimmy Horn the ball and XL was faster coming out of college. I get that maybe Jimmy is just quicker and not sustained faster but the difference is crazy. And while T Mac had a good bit of drops he just looked like a real receiver out there and made up for it. Bryce has probably lost confidence in him and may be one reason he's open sometimes and doesn't get the pass (on top of Bryce's issues of course). Honestly, it may be he's just done here and is jaded and needs traded. Or he needs to sit on the bench and see how he responds (I don't expect anything great). But I liked Horn's speed and potential more than XL at this point. We should look there, the draft, and potential free agents and not keep waiting on XL to turn the corner.

  6. Yeah, at least we ended up getting Coker as a UDFA. Sucks that XL is likely a bust but finding Coker as a UDFA takes some of the sting off of it.
  7. Looks even worse now in retrospect that we got T-Mac and Coker. At least when XL was picked, we needed every type of WR.
  8. Which leads me back to saying we should've fuging drafted McConkey. LOL
  9. I think XL may just need benched and see how he responds and if he works is way back. I'd much rather spend time getting Horn ready to be our #3 or whatever.
  10. This is NOT the best we can do. I don't know poo about Banks, but only 1 OT has come off the board in this draft. We'd be idiots not to grab our favorite and add cheap youth to our o-line.
  11. I do think we need a speedy receiver but I don't think this fits the bill. Wan'dale Robinson maybe? Not Hill though. But yeah we need edge help more than anything.
  12. If we move XL in a WR for WR trade I'd prefer to trade him for more of a classic slot WR. That's what this WR corps lacks. I like T-Mac and Coker on the outside. Now we need that shifty guy who can get open immediately and create separation in short areas.
  13. Yeah you don’t need to be spending 20 mil on a wr when you already have a legit #1, legit #2, and potentially legit #3/slot guy. Especially a team that has glaring needs at pass rush and possibly LT.
  14. Need to spend on a top tier edge and a good linebacker first. WR is not that big of a need.
  15. Even if he's cut, he's not someone we should be targeting. T-Mac is already better than him, and while sure, he might be a slight upgrade at this moment over Coker as a #2, I'm really not sure he would be by the end of the season if Coker improves this offseason like we hope. We need a Tyreek Hill type who isn't Tyreek Hill, not a lesser version of T-Mac. Honestly, outside chance the answer is on the roster and it ends up being Horn Jr, I still don't know why he wasn't getting more snaps this year, he seems like he's oozing potential in the exact role we're needing to complement T-Mac and Coker.
  16. I am in agreement. A guy with that profile, a talented short timer, isn’t a bad idea. We got a lot of mileage from our draft last year but you can’t get instant adult level production from these young guys. Reliably anyway. This guy could help us take up the slack.
  17. Honestly, for a lot of them, it's probably just as simple as little man syndrome. Take it from someone who was always the shortest kid on every team growing up (I was still 4'10" as a Freshman in HS), it puts a chip on your shoulder that you feel you have to always prove you belong and it makes you extra competitive. Even if you no longer are shorter than everyone, it's still there when you compete. Which again, as someone who ended up 5'10" and is now slightly above average height, when it comes to playing sports, in my head, I'm still the 5'2" I was when I turned 16.
  18. The Saints and Falcons had already outbid Panthers. This was in the news. It was down to them when the Browns came back with the stupid offer.
  19. Sign a LB. There are some interesting vet options and they will be better deals than an OT of the same caliber.
  20. Unless they think we are going to overpay for an LT in free agency I can't take any mock draft that doesn't have us taking a LT in the first 2 picks seriously. We've lost Ickey for the year and he'll be due a contract extension or the franchise tag before he plays another snap for us and a patellar tendon rupture is a serious career altering injury for an NFL offensive tackle. There's no guarantee that he'll be able to return to his previous level of performance which even at that level there where people who question if we should commit to him long term. We also were looking at Moton's replacement last year I remember us being interested in Armand Membou in last year's draft. Moton will be going into his age 32 season and has been having chronic knee issues with an expensive contract so a new RT might be needed sooner rather than later. I don't think this team wants to return to the days of "can he play LT". Morgan being a former player has smartly recognized how important having a good Oline is to a team success.
  21. Search for NFL WR drop stats. Its the first 3 results .
  22. No need for this. Colts will absolutely cut Pittman and use that money to attempted to re-sign their other younger, better WR Alec Pierce
