Regarding Horn it's still very early so who can really say as of yet you know. I will say I've begun to wonder about our strength and conditioning staff.

Recent ESPN article suggested compensation says he will realistically fetch a late round pick. He will be 31 years old this fall with a 10 million dollar cap him next season that balloons to 21 million in 2028. So at most you're looking at a two year rental. When are we expecting to become competitive ie push for the playoffs? I just don't see such a move coinciding with our timeline. It really reminds me of the Gilmore trade in that regard. More of a Madden GM kind of move.

We don’t disagree on Theilen’s outlook, but he’s getting more PT than Horn this year. That feels like a near certainty to me. That’s why I posted we should stash Horn somewhere that will save us a roster spot but also keep him under contract.

So, is he coming to Carolina or what? Predictions? Is it already done and we are working out details? What do we think?

I don't know if I would go that far but definitely in the interest of Bryce's continued development we should all want to see Thielen 4th in receptions at most.

Honestly they need to limit how much he is on the field. He may be a crutch for Bryce

AT is a below average starter at this point with above average targets in an offense.

I don't disagree for this season but my POV is that the coaches know he is on borrowed time and has at absolute most another season left in him after this. And while I am speculating I have to imagine that with the clear and orchestrated emphasis on getting younger across the roster the goal as the season progresses is to have the core of TMac XL Coker and one of our young TE's finish the season as the primary options on critical downs and in the red zone. That's not even mentioning the backfield and the pass catching ability there. We can simultaneously like Adam Thielen and also remain keenly aware he is very much temporary and here moreso to guide our young receivers and pass the torch. Same with Renfro. And if we are serious about actually competing for playoffs it's going to take those younger receivers stepping into key roles for it to happen.

Yep - It's a balance. And actually targeting guys with production and being worth a damn is as well (DJJ :/). I'd say there's a line between guys on a tier block starting to be selected and you deciding to go up with the appropriate compensation versus what we've previously done. Which is panicking and grabbing whichever [positional need] is available at the top of said position groups at a unnecessary cost.

4th down game is on the line, Theilen is invaluable. I definitely don't think that is considered washed up. Toby Keith said it best, May not be good as I once was, but I'm as good once

I’m not saying you’re wrong on what would be best for building up our young core, but I doubt Theilen returns if he wasn’t going to be an important part of our passing attack. He would’ve retired if he was going to be WR4 or less imo.

Theilen, at this point in his career, should be that guy who comes in on third and eight and gets you nine yards every time. That kind of player has insane value in the league and it's well within what he is still capable of.

Rewatched again - and noticed some fun stuff-- Then they claimed that we started engaging once Ez and JTT were picked in a row at 44-45, so LAR, AZ, HOU, CIN, & SEA were the teams we likely called before the deal at 51 w/Denver. Brandt goes "I texted John an offer" that's either John McKay, the Asst GM of LAR or John Schneider of SEA. I think it was SEA, we had likely exhausted enough energy with LAR. So my read is we said no to a trade at 50 that was in SEA's favor, and worked with DEN to get a really balanced package. Strong work there not submitting to the Seahawks wishes. Then, once the focus got to the next pick - I found it super interesting. We knew we wanted Princely - There were a few strongly identified targets by the sounds of it beginning in the 60s but Princely was the guy we really wanted. Targeting him was as soon as KC at 66 (from Sneed), or BUF's new spot at 72 as they showed us calling them and negotiating. You hear in the back "They've got 3 threes" -that was NE. And, we are clearly, very tight with Wolff in NE. He called us ahead of pick 77 to negotiate that one. With their pick abundance, we were able to work out a more favorable deal. 77 for 85 and 146 (5). Not bad at all compared to giving up 85 and 114 (4) for 72 and getting the same guy. That's how you don't overdraft.
