Kaye: Panthers not likely to be "sellers" at trade deadlinestrato replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers Well those guys have a shot to be much better players 12 months from now. We should just ride with what we have.
-
Losing big to the Magic at home... oy vey. We should have kept PJ Washington over Miles Bridges. At least when the rookies are playing sloppy basketball we can chop it up to youth. Miles Bridges singlehandedly sabotaging us on both ends for the bulk of the game is just awful.
-
I remember it as teams played us with Cam and his dead arm about like they play us with Bryce. They weren’t afraid of anything deep down the field. Cheated up on everything. Talk about a deep ball Cam had a deep ball.
-
Think that will be all Packers 2nd stringers?

Kaye: Panthers not likely to be "sellers" at trade deadlinekungfoodude replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers I would also hate to see us dump any picks in the top 3 rounds. Those are just too valuable to trade for a team so incredibly far away from being a contender. Even if Scourton and Umanmielen are just basically better version of Jones/Wonnum, I still want them to keep getting the bulk of the reps. Jones/Wonnum are just middle of the road rotational players. Perhaps Scourton/Umanmielen end up being better.

SI article about trade deadline but same topic.

Back to practicing on the side on the first practice back after the injury too. Should be studied for science

Kaye: Panthers not likely to be "sellers" at trade deadlinekungfoodude replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers Depends on price, IMO. Good fits but it would need to be for a relative bargain and/or with a plan to retain(mainly with Phillips). Chubb is injury prone, 29 and has 2 years left at roughly $20 mil(real cost to us, not including prorated money). None of this money is guaranteed, however. Philips is 26 and on an expiring $13.5 mil deal. Chubb would probably be easier to obtain, although potentially a cap suck if he gets injured again. Philips would potentially be more expensive to acquire and a risk if you aren't able to immediately sign him to an extension. Chubb could be the bigger, cheaper gamble with an easy exit strategy. Phillips could be a long term solution but also potentially leave you holding the bag if he REALLY doesn't want to return and skips out this offseason(minus the tag). He is also in his prime as a player.

Kaye: Panthers not likely to be "sellers" at trade deadlineMHS831 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers I think a pass rusher would be hard to get--so I have not mentioned it. i also think that our two young OLBs are showing some signs. It is tough to figure out. Is it scheme? Are we predictable? However, I don't see us upgrading by adding a Reddick (sheer luck) by next week.

Kaye: Panthers not likely to be "sellers" at trade deadlineMHS831 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers I see that, but my focus is broader, which changes the logic (unless I am missing something here). If you like Rico and trade Hubbard, you don't have to let Rico go--you could sign him, have Etienne and Brooks and maybe even a late round draft pick--but you get an ILB, which is our biggest weakness--which is my point. If you isolate your focus on RB only and you focus on next year, it makes little sense to trade Hubbard--to me, you upgrade LB right now and you have RBs. I think we are constantly in rebuild or build mode, we don't think like those seeking rings. What helps us more--(and I am not sure about Hubbard's trade value, which was part of your point)--a backup RB (solid but still a backup right now) or a starting ILB? Which player fills our needs? So I could argue your point, but there are other perspectives that should be considered if you broaden the scope. It is not a no-brainer--lotta variables.

	It Is a miracle

Probably gonna increase that 4th quarter differential this week

Cams end is tragic and ironic. Everyone assumed he would be in trouble when he lost his mobility. That he would have to learn to play from the pocket before his athleticism declined. But it ended up being the reverse. He lost his arm through injury and he couldn’t throw anymore.

Miami GM was fired this morning.

Not even on the injury report, that’s quite the recovery
-
Valid. Cam was still able to be an effective dink and dunk QB(look at his NE time) but that isn't Cam Newton anymore.
-
I mean to be fair who can play QB without an arm? Even Peyton had to be carried across the finish line when he was chucking ducks.
-
1000%. Both among the discussion for greatest "scrambling" QB's off all time. But when you rely on that so heavily, it's devastating when it goes away. Look at Cam when he lost his arm. He relied as heavily on the dual threat of his howitzer of an arm and his massive physical size/athletic ability. Once the arm went, he was no longer an effective NFL QB.
-
The end result is the same when they lost their legs
-
Some of that is offense. I mean playing style. Look how often both of them extended plays by scrambling to hit long passes. Both relied heavily on that athletic ability to QB effectively.
-
Look how they’ve handled the RB competition. Bringing in a QB that is even remotely competent with an arm not made of overcooked pasta would cause havoc. Everybody knows when things are bad the most popular guy in town is the back up QB. Watching this staff have to answer those questions would be funny tho.

Kaye: Panthers not likely to be "sellers" at trade deadlinekungfoodude replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers We don't have a lot of assets that most will want. The bulk that we so are basically no fly zones. I get the want to make upgrades but there are not likely to be cheap and available upgrades at a reasonable cost. It's possible but not probable.
