I know exactly how this week is going to go since I'll have T-Mac, Waddle, and Gordon in my fantasy lineup this week. T-Mac gets doubled on every play because we have nobody else to fear and has low stats. Horn shadows Waddle and takes him out of the game with even worse stats than T-Mac. So they kill us with Achane in the short passing game and they never get into goal line situations so Gordon doesn't get me a TD.

What they should do now is as soon as they pull the plug on Young is to cycle thru the qb's on the roster and limp thru this season. All the while looking for a vet to start next season. When the season is over determine whether you're in position to draft a possible rookie to build on or you're picking defense. If it's defense I would keep Canales one more year to see if he pulls it together or is a waste of time. If it's qb I would seriously consider finding a new coach to pair together as im not confident he's the guy.

Tankathon: Where we stand on draft position…..
mrcompletely11 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
One thing that has to be discussed is if DC is brought back for year three on a short leash and we draft a new qb. Then if DC gets fired the new qb will have 2 head coaches in 2 years. Thats not good. -
New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause
Jon Snow replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
It was the culmination of many things like over throws, dirt balls and 3th down passes to wtf knows. The last straw was the final 4th down pass that sailed over the bench to god knows who. -
Makes perfect sense. Which is why I believe that was off the table for some reason. To the point I just now thought I wonder if Bryce lobbied Tepper for Andy. You get Canales working with a QB that can factor in the future, or you tread water another year with Andy who will be retired - he ain’t going anywhere else… It doesn’t make sense unless hands were tied. But nothing about Bryce Young ever made any sense. edit: PS the thought of Bryce lobbying for Andy made me think about his dad lobbying for XL. If dad wanted XL wouldn’t you infer that Bryce wanted XL? Extrapolate that one….

And the answer is something about making chicken salad or a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Take your pick. -

Pretty understandable tbh. Game 1 - Not good by any stretch. Game 2 - Terrible for one half, decent for another. Game 3 - Well, he didn't need to do much, but we won! Game 4 - He legit was just missing people left and right. He threw the ball into an opponents facemask. Dirted another 4th down ball. Just never gave his receivers a chance. A lot of us were pretty negative about his ability to handle pressure (not just the blitzing kind), and he's just shown that he is basically 'just fine' when everything is going right, but can't elevate anything around him. So... We got our answer. -

The camel’s back met the last straw. Is that an Athletic article? That would be Person, at least contributing probably but likely him. fuging Captain Obvious with that losing record quote. Man, I had Young off of my draft board because of his measureables and when it got really hot and heavy I looked at his video and he was still off my board. I can’t help but believe there were teams that felt the same. -

It's just time to pull the plug. We need to move on and Bryce needs to go seek a fresh start elsewhere. For every spark of hope there's a dozen seemingly hopeless counters. -
My thought is you have to have some vision. Dalton is ancient by NFL standards. His play last year was not good at all outside of 1 game. Bringing him back this year as a backup didnt make sense. He had no upside other than to make Bryce comfortable. Now if we had brought in a Howell, Winston, or another FA QB that fit Canales' style a little better we could have had 3 things. One, a real backup without the intent to just mail in the season if Bryce got hurt. Two, if Bryce reverted back to his season 1 and 2 opening form, we had another QB on the roster we could insert to potentially develop our offensive players as well as determine if our problem lies with our HC as well. And three, if Bryce didnt work out, we have a vet QB signed that is familiar with the system that can make the transition into next year without leaving us scrambling to draft a QB we may not want because we feel desperate to do so. Might not seem like much, but a little future planning with some built in contingencies makes sense, especially given where we are right now. But this is Carolina and we dont do poo like that.

The NFL is a small fraternity and all these dudes know each other. They talk and know what’s what. Hey John, how’d that interview with Tepper go? … wait, he said what? I’d argue that Frank 100% knew what was coming his way. Not his first rodeo with an owner like Tepp. He knew the probably of getting lied to was about 100%, and I’d say he played his hand masterfully. Keep letting BY get killed by left sided speed rushers until Tep had no choice but to fire him before BY ended the season in traction. Canales is in WAY over his head and I’m sure is praying to get fired, but he lacks the savvy that Frank had.

Bryce's intended yards per attempt are waaaay down this year and it isn't as if he's completing his passes further down field. I think something is off with Bryce relative to last year. -

Yeah it was a head scratcher alright. If im not mistaken another team did something like either that year or a season or two after but I cannot recall who it was. We might have set a trend on that. -

Geno Smith was a 10 year veteran when he finally had his breakout season with Canales as his….qb coach and passing game coordinator. Not his offensive coordinator. There’s no shortage of veteran qbs who finally had success in a good situation. baker mayfield, former rookie of the year, looked fine after he had a conversation with Sean McVay. The Bucs offense was even better in 2024 with Canales. regardless of what are reasonable expectations for Bryce, the whole qb whisperer thing has been nonsense from the go. -

Not in the NFL. Colleges will hire anyone and he is an analyst this year right?

We picked up Sam's as soon as we traded for him so I thought it was possible. I remember many of us complaining about the fact that they did that before he even put in a Panthers uniform. If im not mistaken Sam was going into his 4th year of his rookie contract. -

Who gives a fug? Tell Lebron to pick his bitch ass up off the floor and stop flopping when he's built like an NFL DE. Yeah, Bryce is a shitty NFL QB but he's a helluva lot tougher than Lebron James. -

I don’t really know how that option thing works, and was unsure if it transferred with a trade unless we did it. Obviously your scenario a better option. -
Yeah lol Bryce gets compared to every other QB or player you can think of as an excuse. Drew Brees, current Sam Darnold, Tom Brady, Steph Curry...as the famous Katt Williams once said, "Mike Epps is probably doing Mike Epps, why don't you do you??" https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkxxc4HxsZj7h0BMMm-_szP9t2O8ci6HmAZ When is Bryce Young going to be Bryce Young and play as Bryce Young, the 1st overall pick?? Edit: This draft description of Brees does sound like Bryce though -- "he slipped due to concerns about his relatively short stature for a professional quarterback (6'0), a perceived lack of arm strength, and a sense that he had succeeded in college in a spread offense."
