TMac is going to have to save Bryce and the Panthers this season. They realized this way too late today but it was apparent immediately. We somehow picked the two most unnatural WR’s I’ve ever seen on an NFL field in XL and previously Mingo. That’s bad scouting. Bryce 2nd and 1 INT was unacceptable for a franchise QB in year 3. He had no command of the offense today, he and the Center looked like they’d never played together before.
-
Body language of someone who has had no motivation to improve his game. Third year and he still hasn't even tried to hit the gym to even attempt to compensate for being one of the smallest QB's in the league. Your "consensus #1 pick"

All. Day. Long. I’ll say it again. Wilks was the PERFECT ‘bridge’ prove it 1 year deal, coach. It jell’ed so well. Let him bring back dignity…. but we can’t have nice things.

No he wouldn't. He struggles to do the most simple poo any NFL WR should know. In Game 1, TMac was far more impressive than the entirety of XL's NFL career. It's because XL doesn't do anything well at all. Well, not on the football field, for sure. -

But again, it would be one thing if they did that and then followed it up with playing the rookies? Cool. But nope. There was a 3rd down today where A’Shawn Robinson was the only guy pressuring from one edge. There’s just seemingly zero direction and yet they still pretend it’s part of some master plan. -
One good pick and a good UDFA pickup from two drafts. Not good, Dan.

Tepper's Panthers in a nutshell. Lots of big talk, lots of getting embarrassed on the field. We've churned through GMs, coaches, and QBs. It's very obvious what the problem is and unfortunately it's the one problem that can't be fixed. Tepper ruined it. We used to long to consistently good because we couldn't put together winning seasons, but now we view those years of being sporadically good as the good old days. -
Absolutely. Dude skirts by and collects a check.
-
He isn't even coaching in the league anymore. They won games but the D regressed and the O did too towards the end. I'm more upset by all the possible coaches that didn't want to work here due to Tepper and/or the situation. The last coaching search was awful but that was always tied to the mess these duds signed up for so it's understandable.

Hot Takes Immediately After the Game
SmokinwithWilly replied to Admiral Ackbar's topic in Carolina Panthers
This team will never be competitive with David Tepper as the owner. The building is toxic and no one with any real ability to turn it around wants to come here. Morgan and Canales are the result of only one person applying for the job. -
I mean if he's mad, what good does it do? Dennis Green flew off the handle in a presser. He sucked as a coach before he did it and after. No teammate is gonna be inspired by that, anyway. Hell, the whole team has shitty body language. Panthers have finally become the Hornets of not needing to work hard, because sucking ass is expected. No pressure to perform because you can be terrible but still play here.
-
No, XL's flaws all come from him not being an NFL caliber player, like many Panthers WR draft picks before him. Like I said, I don't really put much stock into those preseason reps at all. Never have.
-
TMac is very exciting. Crazy to think that was his first game. He has some insane hands.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
45catfan replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
Beware of the RSOs. They are too raw and not ready. Don't listen to garbage by talking heads that drafting a young QB is like getting free years and 25-year old QBs are "old." It's complete BS. Young QBs are raw and Grad/RSR QBs are seasoned. Nothing--absolutely NOTHING can substitute/simulate actual game reps. If any position on a football team requires as many reps as possible, it's QB. -
I can only speak for myself. I don't watch it for what he says, I watch it for his body language and his attitude. Is there some fire left? Does he look pissed and determined to do better? I see none today. I think he's ready to accept the inevitable, however reluctantly.

Dumping Clowney wasn't smart. He had more sacks last year than the whole team will have this year. -

It's shameful. -
I tried to think back and find a pick I was wrong on. Best I could come up with was I was high on Ereck Flowers in 2015. I wanted Dalvin Cook as our RB choice in 2017, but in my defense, I wasn't using a first on him. CMC ended up being on of my favorite players ever and I regret not looking more his way in the draft process.
-
Truth. Even in losing, it was a respectable effort. The defense always set the tone. Fox and Rivera were very similar that way. Nobody ran on this defense like EVERYBODY does now. Those teams, if nothing else, would stop the run. This new ish is just demoralizing.

Last season but same. looking at how this team is structured, how many elements of it going into today were they just like….hopeful…on? I don’t mean a dropped pass or hold or whatever. I mean entire position groups. What was the plan? They hat to have seen this in the preseason and reviewing tape last season. Were they hoping for just like a golden retriever to join the team the last second? Unbelievable. -
McMillan could've caught that TD but whatever. Chuba, the specialists and, that's about it for being absolved. Horn made a great pick. The defensive line and linebackers may as well not exist. I think Dan might've hit on a WR pick finally, but no one else was of any value, per usual.

This is probably one of the only real quotables that stuck with me from my dad growing up, and now, I don’t think there’s a more fitting motto for our Carolina Panthers except they’re the ones that’s doing the pissing and telling. They ARE pissing on our legs and saying it’s the rain. We’ve wasted two additional years in Bryce after knowing what he was from his rookie year. No contingency plan in place. But, plenty of fake hype about a few lightning fast glimmers of hope in contrast to the consistent, large sample size of work that he had showing he was not an NFL starting QB. Look at the defense - where guys like Morgan, instead of addressing a position of weakness, spends the offseason telling us how great Trevin Wallace is. How much trust they have in a guy like Cherelus(sp?). How much they’re counting on young edge rushers Princely and Scourton… then we get into a meaningful game and Wallace is abhorrent. Horrible. Disgustingly bad. Rozeboom looks horrible. Constantly missing tackles and out of position. The rookie edge rushers? I don’t even know if they played today. And we still generate zero pressure for most of the game. All this organization does now is LIE. To us, to themselves. All they do is shill. It’s a con job. They know their product is poo, but listen to how great it is. Believe us!
