The Panthers’ Bryce Young Problem is Getting Old

Fwiw we now theoretically have a situation where we can just drop a qb that doesn't suck and they can succeed. We have a good o line We have a good run game with chuba We might have an alpha wr with t Mac. We have some questions with upside in jt, Coker, horn and for now renfrow. We just need a qb who isn't absolute cheeks -
Yes and no I'm not using it as a way of saying "he's going to end up with these stats at the end of the season" But more of a way of saying to the people who are saying he didn't impress them, that they're not seeing the forest through the trees. I'd bet those same people who are saying they weren't impressed, if you had told them before the game, that he'd end up with 85 catches for 1,150 yards this year, they'd say that was a great rookie season (because it would be). So I'm just pointing out that it's a bit disingenuous to say this game didn't impress them, but knowing they would be impressed by that season long stat line if he had the same output every week.

The whole BY experience, from that stats that paint him well to the actual on field play, can be best summarized by a sentence from an article Nate Tice wrote last year about him. "Young’s lack of arm strength and size creates little room for error in his play" I think the above sentence is ultimately what holds him back right now in the NFL. https://sports.yahoo.com/bryce-youngs-hopes-for-a-bounce-back-season-with-panthers-comes-down-to-more-than-just-his-supporting-cast-140010168.html -
i still love him though.

And Jewell was a low to mid-tier starter at best. I have no comprehension f how we spend the offseason trying to "fix" our run D without doing more at ILB, even if Jewell had stuck around. -
I’m sure it’s just a random coincidence that the Carolina Panthers employ a bunch of PFF folks to help build the roster (brag about it) ….and PFF just happens to be giving illogical ratings to our starting QB. you can conspiracy theorize that a couple different ways….but it sure seems like there could be odds our guys at BOA are just getting a solid done for them by their people at PFF to spin their poor decision at QB (and QB is what makes are breaks most folks). OR….PFF is just bad and we now are making decisions of th-5 exact poor logic.

The Panthers’ Bryce Young Problem is Getting Old
nogoodbum replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Actually, it's an age-old problem. Nobody wants to admit they were wrong & don't do anything to correct, thinking tomorrow will prove them right. The problem blew up to outer space levels as the internet expands with the problem reaches almost every facet of life as we know it. I recall the levels of hype preceding the Fitterer/Frank/Young combo that was going to rule the NFL for years. Hundreds of Huddle pages & thousands of posts over the past 3 years later, there are still posters who still point fingers, never admitting any failure on their part. -
How many games before they pull the plug for good

This is Canales second season. He has officially coached 1 season and 1 game. He made Bryce look decent for a bit. At some point, you have to cut bait with Bryce. I think Morgan has been digging his way out of a hole forced on him to trade up in 2023 to get Bryce. Tepper wanted his guy, GM and coach be damned. That's on Tepper, not Morgan. Trying to work around that isn't easy and we still deal with the repurcussions. I'd be fine keeping Canales if we do decide to move on from Bryce. I think he could be a great Head Coach, given a QB with the right measurables. Defensive development takes time and unfortunately we traded up to get Bryce when we had a roster unready for a rookie QB, and then we traded away assets that would have been used to build a core of talent. -
Bryce played bad on Sunday. I understand a lot of teams have bad Week 1s so comparing a bad QB play across the league might make it look more normal. The issue with this is a lot of these other QBs have way more games of solid QB play so they are looking more like a typical week 1 outlier. Bryce doesn’t have that luxury right now. He can still turn it around but it needs to be done sooner vs later. He controls his own destiny this year.

One of those passes almost got him killed! I’ve never seen a human get folded like an omelet and bounce back up like that. Bryce was trying to put him in the hospital! The 3 yard throw to a running back was the hardest pass I’ve ever seen BY try to make, it was coming at him 100 mph, high and behind him lol. I just love these excuses. These people obviously did not watch the game -
I noticed that he didn't have his ring on in recent Panther related media content so I looked it up. There was nothing online about it either. This post put the spotlight on and confirmed my earlier concerns. I remember her being involved in everything he did, she even set up events for him at the Comedy Zone. Now she's fighting with the new woman. Sad stuff.

Lawrence has the potential to be a Top 8 QB year in and year out though. He's got the arm, he's got the measurables, he's a leader, he's got the athleticism. He may not be Allen but he could pull off Herbert pretty well I think. -
There is the concept of dealing in fairy tales and then there is dealing in real world realities. You cannot come away thinking Bryce Young is anything but one of the worst starting QB's in the league if you are basing your conclusion on verifiable data across all of his 31 career games that lines up with what you are seeing with your own two eyes if you are dealing in a reality based discussion. It is that simple.

Bryce through up two hospital balls to Renfrow where he had to leave his feet with a defender on a LINE straight to his spine. But lets not blame Bryce for those drops. -
I guess you can parse data however you want to make a point but the fact is that Trevor Lawrence is a middle of the road (15 or 16) QB and he looked like a Hall of Famer compared to Bryce.

Yeah, I'm thinking Eric Eager + David Tepper are the ones.

This video perfectly sums up Bryce Young/Carolina IMO

Nobody would care about this if he was playing well. I think the clips that sum up Bryce the best are the litany of clips that show him playing like dog poo. That's all I really care about Watch the jumbotron looking like a middle schooler all you want as long as you deliver when it's go time. -

There's no reason to defend Bryce given its his third year in the league. We've already given him grace on two seasons. If he isn't the guy that's holding the offense together than he isn't the guy. I agree he didn't look as bad as the fanbase says he was; but he doesn't deserve us defending him either. I'm a Bryce homer too, I think he'll bounce back, but if he's going to be Jekyll and Hyde as QB, then that's where the ceiling is on the team too. Worst part about this is that we know Bryce's mental is already fragile. Canales needs to find a way to keep him focused and get out of this funk or otherwise it's going to be a very long season. -

This is why I wasn't overly disappointed when we didn't trade Burns for two #1 picks. Based on who we have drafted in the first round since 2020 I don't see how anyone would think we would have used those choices to pick any exceptional players that would have made the team immediately better. And, we still haven't found an edge rusher to replace Burns.
