I really hate when we get this optimistic and act like this team is right at the cusp. We beat the Rams by 3 even though we had a pick 6, forced another 3 turnovers, had no turnovers and scored two long TDs on 4th down. All that and we still needed Brown to strip Stafford to keep them from forcing OT. I’m all in and will be at next week’s game but we aren’t anything like some of our past playoff teams that were legitimate SB contenders. We’re just the only team above .500 (by a half game) in the worst division. There is still a lot of work to be done and we still need good drafts. Tet’s been great but Scourton and Princely aren’t blowing up. A lot of playing time but man we still need more top players. One or two injuries to our stars and we suck.

I expect Horn, Brown, Chuba, Moton to have the locker room amped

It is tough to beat any NFL team twice in a year. The Panthers are more talented than the Saints and now have tape on their rookie QB. They have to win this game and it will speak volumes if they don't with the implications. -
I looked it up. Apparently what we're seeing here is something called "optimism". Haven't really encountered that sort of thing much in this forum

Will history repeat itself and Carolina make it to NFCCG this year?
WhoKnows replied to KSpan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yea and they did. They won the titles in 2002, 2014 and 2024, but the games were all played in January of the NFL year we went to the SB. OSU championship happens first and then the NFL year starts with us playing Jax week 1 and then we go to the SB. -
I will say next season will be the real test. Still learning how to win close games and building the team. Few more pieces to complete the team. Happy to see what they have accomplished so far.

New Orleans Bryce’s house of horror. Observer

Last year after the bye week, the Panthers almost beat the Chiefs and looked excellent. Not much history, but all we have with Canales young tenure. -
I'm waiting until this entire odd season plays out fully to really judge anything. Or maybe I should say, change what the last several years has locked into place. This is one of the weirder seasons I have seen and hardest teams to really judge. Its a very schizophrenic team/season. And there are 2 very different ways the finish could present and the board would view things vastly different from both ends of the at finish spectrum.

He knows something, doesn't he?

I hope you are right on this. I feel like we are turning a corner. The next 2 games will tell.

Not from me... WCO was designed to respond to high pressure. In the face of what the Saints were doing, SOP would have been to run draws, screams, misdirection, etc. Canales just kept going back to the same well.

Why would he give us bulletin board material like this

Jmac started following Tillis, Morgan, and Canales
-
These guys have done the work and have build the culture needed to succeed. Tillis from the Chiefs has been a great choice. Knows how to built a successful roster. Morgan has made some very good picks and FA signings. Canales is going to be a very HC in the long run. Tepper has stepped back and let his guys cook. Excited to see what tomorrow brings for this team. Hats off to these guys and how they are building this franchise. Keep pounding

Doesn’t matter. The fact we are in playoff contention already locks BY in as the starter for next year. Zero chance the team decides to start over with a new QB.

usmcpanthers started following J Stew made me laugh today

I love the old Panther's player remaining faithful and holding division grudges for years after their career lol. https://x.com/Jonathanstewar1/status/1999339469288489117?s=20

If we beat the Saints, all we have to do is split with the Bucs and we will own the tie breaker
-
Brentson Buckner and Warren Sapp exchanged words in the newspaper frequently. Steve Smith and Aqub Talib started with TB vs CAR. Dante Wesley killing that punt returner. The players genuinely didn’t like each other. Also, Simeon Rice getting 3 consecutive sacks because of a fan in the stands talking poo over the stadium mic. Many battles back then.

Is this the best timed ‘bye’ we’ve ever had
coffee replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
A quick recap: November 30 at 1pm our situation was: The Bucs are a full game ahead of us, PLUS holding the current tiebreaker, PLUS having the easiest remaining schedule imaginable. We've just had a humiliating defeat, lost our winning record, and are walking into a "guaranteed loss" against the NFL's best team. After stepping through the bye week looking glass, we get to walk into our next game knowing: A win will mean that, even in the worst case scenarios, we are assured of still being in the playoff race through the last game of the season. We're tied with the bucs... No, wait! We're a game ahead of the bucs... No, wait! We're a game ahead PLUS holding the current tiebreaker. Yeah, I'll take a bye like that anytime. -
I wont crack a smile unless we beat the aints this weekend.

Bryce hasn't been pushing the ball downfield in a lot of wins. I think that's basically how lose games. Asking that of him. Not sure why people want to lose a game we can win with the proven hide Bryce most of the game and win ugly approach. and people sort of skew the Rams came up. he did not push the ball downfield nor was he asked in that game. It was the same thing as the Saints game. There were just 2 random 4th all or nothing plays that present take shot gambles
-
Can we get those post game plus minus stats again? I don’t know where to look.
-
Is everyone ok with winning the division and keeping BY as our starter next year? Or do we want to just miss winning the division and have someone else at QB1 next year? It can't be both, and I just don't like the idea of BY long term.
