He has long ago ceased to offer hope he was ever worthy of the 1.1. Now it is just, can he be mid? -

Canales doesn't sound all the way sold on Bryce
LinvilleGorge replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly, this is pretty alarming stuff. The things Canales is talking about Bryce needing to do better at were the exact reasons why Bryce was drafted. Bryce was never going to be the prototypical 6'5" 240 rocket launcher arm guy. He was supposed to be able to make up for his physical shortcomings by being a "superprocessor with a PG mentality". Now here is Canales basically saying that he has to become a better processor and learn to play with a PG mentality. Honestly, this feels like starting to build your case for why we need to move on at QB. -
Exactly, he went back to Arizona "because he's a West Coast guy" and they gave him everything that he wanted. Not much you can do at that point as another school.

Tony Pauline’s 2026 NFL Mock Draft 4.0
raleigh-panther replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
yep Best ability is availability in the nfl I’m not big on “a’wishin and a’hopin “ that the player will be touched by Jesus for a sustainable nfl career if they can’t hold up in a shorter college season, how on earth can they hold up under 17 games a year and almost year rd training in the nfl there are plenty of good players without issues, pick one of them -
Look above for my original post before information started coming out of Arizona and yes there was information coming out from the school that he was leaving but then they gave him everything that he wanted... poo changes and I just post what I hear. Take it or leave it.

Canales doesn't sound all the way sold on Bryce

This is the correct answer. They are also going to make sure they do not repeat the Darnold and Mayfield mistakes with another first round pick. They are committed to seeing this through. -

You’re not gonna like my answer. Hell, I don’t like it either but it is what I suspect is happening. They’re trying to win with him cause they gave up so much to get him that they need to be absolutely sure he is not capable of taking the next step. That’s it. If he was a 3rd or 4th round pick the experiment would have been over long ago IMO. -
So, when you give reports and data at your job, and you tell your boss, "it's 100%", are you guys working on a make-believe scale of 200% so you have room for errors? You saying "people close to the Arizona program" makes you sound like you're an insider. When it turns out you're just a dummy posting on the internet, like me.

Are you suggesting that the situations were the same? As I recall, Hurney traded away the chance to get Revis and he drafted Beason as an OLB (where he STARTED as a rookie) and when Morgan went down with an injury, Beason was moved inside--he was on the field, however. Are you suggesting that GMs should use first-rounders for depth? If so, I wonder how many GMs, aside from those taking QBs, will draft a player that does not start this season in round 1? The argument that we will have an option to draft a player who is ready to step in and perform at a high level as a rookie at OT is not consistent with most of the reviews. Most of them, except maybe 1 or 2, are developmental. An isolated incident does not apply to all future situations. Beason was going to start, so it is not comparable. That same draft-Kalil played Guard as a rookie when we knew he was going to be a center--but he started. You don't reach for developmental non-starters in round 1 of the draft.

Why would you want to try and win with a bottom 3rd qb? -
Lloyd just created leverage for himself to get the best possible situation. He saw UNC as the better job, but if you can get a massive raise at Arizona and basically be the Nick Saban of Arizona answering to no one, I mean... yeah, that's a sweet deal. I'd stay put too. I'd rather be the unquestioned king of Arizona basketball than the head coach of UNC basketball.
-
See.... I've been quite adamant from the start that I thought Donovan would end up with the job and if he says no, it goes to UNC's tier 2 list that starts with Byington. Edit to add. It's not like they didn't come close to getting Lloyd to jump, he had been talking to the school and had an offer worth 8m+ a season.

Yea I did and I quoted it above. Lmfao

Canales doesn't sound all the way sold on Bryce

To rub salt in the wound when you look back to what were considered some of the most underwhelming resulting seasons in Panthers history before the Tepper's came along we still managed a top 20 passing offense with journeyman Matt Moore and the ghost of Jake Delhomme in 2009. And Steve Smith was 44th in the league in YAC so it was not a chunk play pass offense. Obviously the run game was dominant with Jonathan Stewart and Deangelo Wiliams but comparatively the run game in 2009 only amassed 500 more rushing yards than the 2025 Panthers in a down year for Chuba Hubbard. It shows just how comically desperate we have become to adjust standards that actually used to mean something. -
I wouldn't have picked up the option, to me he's that replaceable. I think the Panthers are taking a more cautious strategy, not ready to move on yet but also holding off on committing to him until the last possible time. Basically, he's a competent NFL QB. He's bottom third in the league. That's actually not a terrible thing. You can win some with a bottom third QB. If over time he takes a few steps forward he might be a median level QB. I think those are the kinds of steps that Canales is talking about. If you've truly got a median level QB, it's probably worth keeping him as opposed to roll on the dice in the draft. But just to be super clear, I don't think he is capable of taking those steps, and I think we should and will move on after the season

Unfortunately this is more wishful thinking than anything. The problem is the bar is so low for what they consider success for Bryce Young. I mean we have yet to field even a top 25 passing offense with Bryce Young heading into his fourth season and it's basically considered a when not if we begin contract extension talks with him. -
What do y'all think about Skyler Bell?
jasonluckydog replied to The Total Package's topic in Carolina Panthers
Walter did Skyler wrong. I get it, Walt was looking out for his family. However, selling blue meth was not the answer. Skyler was a little too dramatic if you ask me. -
Everyone in the draft is a gamble. They do not come with guarantees ro be anything other than what they were when you drafted them. Some will start due to necessity and others because they have terrible coaches trying to save their jobs. Truthfully, only 1 or 2 should or could play day 1. So if you think a first round selection means anything you are overestimating these guys or your expectations are way too high.
