After today’s disastrous press conference, McDermott looks like the hero and the owner (Pegula) and Beane like a pure mess that nobody will want to work with.

18 game season plus all teams doing 1 intl

Most professional sports owners barely care if you show up because the TV money dwarfs the amount generated in the stadium. The NFL particularly is like that. If you look at NFL stadium trends, it's about adding "premium" features to raise the prices to the stratosphere and out of the hands of average folks. Also consider that the NFL prioritizes the richest people on the planet owning their teams. They aren't losing touch with the fans, they lost that years ago. It's about how much it takes before the foundation starts to crumble. Also, they all see it is coming in the US. That's behind the attempts to be global. The NBA will never fail because it is a global sport now. The NFL is desperately trying to achieve this because they are on a direct path to failure. -

I'm at the point where if I can get anything for XL in a trade I'm moving him. Even if it's a late round conditional pick. I like the guy and was rooting for him but on terms of football getting him off the roster would be addition by subtraction. I like T-Mac and Coker on the outside, now just find a decent slot. The good thing about finding Coker as a UDFA in that class is that it takes some of the sting off of the XL bust pick if Coker essentially becomes what we were hoping for out of XL. -

I'll also add that if you just replace Legette with Romeo Doubs, the WR core is a much more complete and cohesive unit. -
You could be right but which position groups are better in Carolina? Maybe secondary with the upgraded version of Mike Jackson? Maybe WRs at the end of the season? DBs - CAR close ILBs - BUF not close DL - BUF close. CAR advantage interior DL. BUF advantage pass rushers Receivers - CAR really close. CAR WR at the end of season with Jalen Coker - not before. BUF TEs by a large margin. RBs - BUF not close OL - BUF not close

Yep. You gotta build something first. We haven't built anything. And I mean really build it. It isn't like Tampa became a serious option for ring chasers in the post Brady era despite "dominating" the NFC South. You have to build something veteran NFL players believe in. Not just a spot to get a massive paycheck. -

That's the NBA, not the NFL. These players will go where they can get the most money and also play/have a big role. Just like Thielen and Clowney did when they chose the Panthers. NFL free agency has always been about guaranteed money. -
That isn't gonna be possible until 2028 at the earliest. He has a very freshly inked mega-deal. I do think he will eventually choose to go elsewhere. If they hire Brian Daboll, he will crater that entire franchise VERY quickly.

Hopefully the Panthers premium tax is coming down a bit since we made the playoffs we don’t overpay -
Hey, I'll take a London Fletcher clone.

Big Ben on drafting a QB and roster building

I think there needs to be a level of expectation for the players too that you're going to work on this in the offseason. We need to find QBs dedicated to the craft, not just those that are going to rely on their talent or whatever worked before or at the college level. -
I don't think he'll go anywhere if they hire Brian Daboll.

We're the wrong environment right now. Ring chasers aren't coming here. Players are coming here for a payday. We need a few back to back winning seasons before we can start attracting the bigger name FAs at regular prices. -
Well, I'm not "close" to that situation and really don't follow Hockey. But all I can say is is that I can't fault the man for thinking that a change was needed. He thought they had hit a wall. Sometimes a message gets stale and a change of scenery is needed. It could be the best thing for McDermott and the best thing for the Bills in the end.

Andrews is likely to chase a ring or retire. His tank is close to E. Mack is likely in ring chasing mode too. I will take either but I don't think we are a spot for formerly elite players to end. -
You are the first. For everyone else it is Burden. By less than a point. His production just not as good as Tet’s, and Tet was wearing the Number 1 WR hat which PFF should find a way to factor in.

GM’s always have the ear of the owner.

Certainly it needed to be addressed but can we be honest with one another and acknowledge that the urgency to address it by any means necessary was due to the org needing to save face for how poorly their #1 overall pick performed? Only thing to do from here is learn from the experience and begin building a complete roster methodically. Heavy emphasis on the word complete.

So many HC changes, who want their own systems, there will be some good players available. Definitely need offensive line, a decent TE, and front 7 help. Maybe take a chance on a Mark Andrews change of scenery. Khalil Mack for some veteran presence -
I wonder if Ghost has the stomach bug. That was the rumor at least online.

I think Josh Allen will eventually force his way out of Buffalo, and people will look back at this offseason as the reason why. Will take 2-3 years and I bet he goes west coast (maybe LA to replace Stafford...??) but I don't think he's gonna stay in Buffalo that much longer. Especially if they (predictably) struggle the next year or two.

I hear you. But I 100% agree the oline needed to be improved from 2023. That was a complete disaster. They were gonna get someone killed out there. Heck, Dalton had a great game against Seattle that year, but there's no way he could have lasted a season behind that group. Seattle wasn't even particularly good and they had several HUGE hits on him the entire game. Now did Dan need to go out and spend the farm on OGs? That was probably a bit of an overreaction. Time to start replacing that whole group with draft picks. None of them are worth the money they're being paid. Not saying they aren't good players. Just that they're all overpaid. Sans whoever we march out there at Center. -
dawg, not sure if you follow hockey at all but Terry Pegula is by far the worst owner in the NHL and has run the Buffalo Sabres into the ground -- 14 straight years missing the playoffs. Buffalo media has reported extensively about how Pegula has run each team (mostly hands off with the Bills since McD and Josh arrived) and their observations are that the way Pegula has handled the McDermott and Beane situation has been an absolute disaster and very reminiscent of the Sabres disfunction. We don't really know the full story and never will but I do know that Pegula's comments in that press conference were completely asinine and came across to me as a terrible owner trying to come across like he knows what he's doing. Why in the world would you make those comments about an active player on the team, or air all this alleged behind the scenes dirty laundry in a press conference? Came across to me as a terrible owner being defensive about his stupid decisions. There very much was a reason McDermott was fired and Beane was kept. Now, whether that reason had any basis in objective logic and reason is anyone's guess. Based on Pegula's history, I suspect his reasoning behind the decision was very flawed. This is very reminiscent of some of Tepper's clown decisions and comments from the worst moments of his time as our owner so far.
