Rhule and Fitterer pressers later today
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why would he say anything negative about Bridgewater? Teams are interested in him, the last thing he needs to do is undercut his value. Come On, Man. -

You also have to remember he is sitting. While he may show up nothing says he has to play. It's in their best interest to move him this year than next. Kind of hard to swallow a huge cap hit and get no production out of any player, including Watson. -
Brandt needs to give more on QB prospects
DaveThePanther2008 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I get both arguments. Jones, IMO, is going to be a good NFL QB. What I will argue is athleticism. While he may not be the next coming of Mahomes or Watson he is athletic. You don't play for the one of the best college programs in the country because you can throw the ball. J. Russell was athletic but had the brain of a pee. Winston was super athletic but was a poor decision maker. I went back and looked at the last 20 years of Super Bowl winners and the Majority were pocket passers. Some with a more mobility than others. Mahomes, Wilson and Wentz being the most mobile with Rodgers a cross breed of both. The Mannings, Brady, Flacco, Big Ben and the others were not very mobile but good pocket presence plus most of them had a great defense. I will say that if they choose Jones than the offensive line needs to be top tier. I think that is the one advantage a mobile QB can get away with more than a pocket passer. I'd say above average line or better. Someone said earlier or in another thread. Free Agency will tell the tale of which way we go. If we are building a solid line with Vets than don't be surprised if we go for Jones. I've read where Jones is quite intelligent and Tua said he was the 2nd coming of Brady. Brady reads a defense as well as any that have played. Most of the times he knew where he was throwing the ball before the snap. Go through the motions of keeping the safeties honest and throw to your read. If Jones learns to read a defense well. Who knows his ceiling. I'm going to let Rhule and Co. figure that out. This has been the craziest offseason for QBs as I can ever remember and I've been a huge NFL fan since Johnny U and the Baltimore Colts. Regardless of who we go with. As long as TB5 is not the QB. I'll be optimistic. -

The Texans might want to play hardball but they also know that the time is NOW to trade him. If they get into a pissing contest and Watson refuses to play his stock will go down Houston needs to deal him because if they wait and play hardball it will backfire. Teams will offer less than now because Houston will soon realize they are losing draft capital everyday they wait. Teams will start to low ball them and force Houston to accept it before it gets worse. IMO they'll deal Watson before the draft. -
Teddy Bridgewater likely on the outs in Carolina
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know I am probably in the minority here but I think Minshew would do well here. He reminds me a bit of Fitzpatrick. I don't see him as a long term answer and he is still under contract with Jacksonville. He's a former ECU Pirate and might enjoy coming back to the Carolina's in any fashion we use him. -
I'm still a little salty Chinn didn't get DROY!
DaveThePanther2008 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
How he wasn't even in the discussion is what pissed me off. He was 2 time defensive rookie of the Month whereas Young didn't win it once. How do you win two of four months and aren't even considered. Young was the more high profile player and that's it. He had a great year but to not include Chinn in the discussion is absurd. -
Winning with the Viking and Saints are history. That's like saying Cam, who I am a big supporter of, should have stayed with the team because he was MVP in 2015. This is a what can you do for me now league. Bridgewater showed NO ability to take the team down the field and win a game when we needed him too. Bridgewater had more than enough weapons to win a game. He beat a rookie QB, a mediocre Cardinal team, a slumping Falcon team (who later beat us), and the WFT that gave us the game. He did nothing against upper echelon teams. You love Bridgewater and that's ok with me but to insist he isn't the problem your blind to the facts. Once teams figured out he couldn't hit a deep pass to save his life, they played to stop the short game and showed his HUGE WEAKNESS.

Giants are releasing former Panther David Mayo

You should be severely beaten just for the thought of putting Miracle Whip in Cole Slaw. -

I think he is somewhere inbetween these two arguments. He had little help in NE. I also think there has been some decline. But I cannot help but think about baseball pitchers that come back from surgery. It usually takes a full season of playing to recover from the shoulder injuries. This would be the NEXT season. I think if he stays in NE. They will get him some weapons and he'll show he isn't washed up. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to saX man's topic in Carolina Panthers
i understood the reasoning they released Cam but Bridgewater was not the answer. We would have paid less to keep Cam and would have been able to move on from him had he not performed well. It's hindsight but I never understood the logic of bringing in a player with a history of injury worse than Cam and expecting him to revive the Panthers. If we somehow traded Bridgewater to SF and all our efforts to secure a QB failed. I would sign Cam to a one year deal and focus on a replacement in 2022. -

I would have rather stuck with Cam than deal with the Bridgewater issue. I think with the offense we had last year Cam would have done better than Bridgewater. I am certain that given the opportunity to win a game (8 I believe) He would have won a least a half of them. -
I recently saw that the Pelicans might be shopping Alonzo Ball. They might be rethinking that after last nights game against the Jazz where he put up some decent numbers. Would it be worth trading for him? Team him up with his brother. They obviously have some amazing chemistry between each other and might make him better than he is with New Orleans. I am not suggesting that we do as I like many of the components the Hornets have and would not like to see us screw it up trading for an unwanted player. I am just asking your opinion. What would you trade for him?

I would love to see Creed Humphrey fall to us in round 2. We could really used a smart athletic center.

I know we have to address the offensive line but putting a defense that contain some of these high powered offenses should be a priority. I think we'll address the O-line in free agency and maybe one or two defensive players. If we get Watson and can have a stellar defense we can go back to our rightful spot at the top of the division. Steve Smith, IMO, hits it right on the head about our dream scenario. https://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-total-access-dream-trades-signings-for-nfc-south

Miller showed me that he has the tools to play LB in the NFL. Everyone wants to say he showed flashes and that may be accurate but he played on a terrible defense. You can't expect a rookie to dominate on a horrific defense. I would believe that he will be given the opportunity to shine in this defense. I am excited as I believe he will show much more and will become a key member of our young defense.

He has lots of potential and I think he will fit good in Snow's defense. I look forward to seeing this young player with the rest of our defense.

Suppose CMC is part of the deal for Watson
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't believe we will trade him and as many have posted his cap hit would be devastating. However, deals are made that may help alleviate those cap problems. Reggie was hurt at the same time CMC was which gave Davis his opportunity. But, I do remember the times Reggie came in for CMC in 2019 he performed well and made plays. He's not CMC and no where am I implying that he is. If it meant giving him up to get Watson you have to have a plan on giving Watson weapons. I don't he'll be traded. I created this post to get the opinions on whether Reggie could be a viable option at running back IF (BIG IF) we traded him. -

It's a conversation. if you don't want to offer some actual input. Don't click. Sorry it offends you that someone other than you brings up a topic of discussion. -
Yeah this. Little is on the bubble. Hopefully we have a reasonable offseason training and Little can actually get some real work. If we can get OTAs and minicamps this year Rhule will have his chance to see whether he is salvageable or not. Of course I am pulling for him to succeed but my expectations are he's probably a bust.
-
I am very much against trading CMC and Houston has indicated they want defensive players but for conversation. What if we ended up trading CMC to get Watson. Do you think Reggie Bonnafan could fill the role of CMC? I know he's not as electric but has shown he can make big plays from the same position. If CMC were put in the package I would have to believe that Fitterer and Rhule might believe that Reggie could be a CMC-light.
