  1. There is absolutely no way we would put a 3rd round pick on the PS. Someone would snatch him up quickly. So fast it would make your head spin.
  2. Have we ever had a time where we had co starters on our depth chart? Rhule is such a big P. Have the fortitude to name who's the starter at this point. Nothing is written in stone that is the way it will play out. The QB depth chart is stupid. Either Baker or Sam, pick one. Corral is #3. There is no way we ever cut Corral. RB room too Chubby or Foreman. We sure as hell didn't sign Bozeman to be a backup. He's clearly the better center. It's just insane that Rhule doesn't want to hurt anyone feelings as to where they currently stand. One thing I did see that is interesting. Kaylon Barnes is ahead of STO. He could be a steal for such a late round pick.
  3. It really makes you wonder what his infatuation with Darnold is. As @firstdayfan pointed out from Saturday's scrimmage once Darnold threw his Int he seemed to start seeing ghost and wouldn't hit an open target for fear of another int. In other words he hasn't changed one bit from last season. If it was his intention to go with Darnold why even trade for BM.
  4. I was traveling for the actual induction but was able to see the replay on AFN today. I think they did a great job of mixing both New Orleans and Carolina videos. As a player he was with New Orleans longer and a part of one of the best linebacking Corps in NFL history. However, overall Sam spent more time with Carolina as a player/coach. So the mix was good. I glad they mentioned the mantra several times because it is a part of Carolina as much as the Washington fight song or J.E.T.S Jets Jets Jets is for NY. I was happy to see him make it. We'll have a few more soon in SS Sr and JP and Luke.
  5. It's only been less than a week since we started TC but to be honest. I haven't seen Baker or Sam really take a step forward. A couple of nice throws here and there but nothing special. I get the concern about throwing Corral into the starting line up early. I think we have enough talent offensively that he doesn't have to do it on his own. If Baker and Sam continue to be unimpressive than our season is sunk anyhow. Give the rookie a chance and build an offensive game plan around his talent and our playmakers. Kind of like how Pittsburgh brought Big Ben along so many years ago.
  6. If every player went from the bench to playoffs the world would be boring. I'd like to see him on the field. I personally believe Corral is our future. It will be enjoyable watching him grow which may include losing a some games. If you only want to see him when we reach the playoffs you've probably missed seeing him grow.
  7. 2 leg injuries. Broken Fibula 22 yrs ago but no issues with it. Knee injury 27 years ago. Took a knee to knee. Knee likes to stiffen up now and then.
  8. What I want it an open competition but the reality of it is. Baker gave up 3.5 million to come to the Panthers. It's Baker's job to lose. He'd have to really suck to lose the QB1 position.
  9. It's about a man that threw away a god's gift due to drugs. It's sad but that's the reality of doing drugs.
  10. That could be possible. We may have been sitting on the Mayfield issue before we signed any more players to the roster. It also helps with the salary when we get closer and closer to camp. Those salaries start to go down when faced with the possibility of not playing in 2022. I think our secondary is going to help the D-line this year. If we can contain receivers just a second more we might get a couple of those coverage sacks. I like Snow and he has done a lot with not much especially 2020. I think we'll be surprised and have a decent defense. Maybe not top 10 but upper half of the league. We don't have to be the 85 Bears or the 00 Ravens. We just have to keep the score reasonable and hope Mayfield can utilize our offensive talent and win us some games and get us in the Playoffs. If we can make it, no telling how far we could go.
  11. DJ makes a great point. Baker didn't give up 3.5 million to sit on the bench and be a backup with zero chance to invigorate his career. I think at the very least he is starting QB going into camp and he'd have to really suck to lose to Darnold. As far as Brooks concern about training camp. If Mayfield expects to be the starter going into Camp he better get his ass into the playbook and be ready for camp.
  12. As you said, he had tons of talent at LSU and very infrequently were they tested. He had little reason to adjust to what defense was out there. Some college programs have 1 or maybe 2 NFL prospects on defense. He had several offensive weapons that were NFL talent. Even the most marginal player on an NFL roster was better than he face in college. He had zero answers for what defenses were doing to us after game 3. Granted it didn't help our O-line sucked and our best outlet was hurt but when you struggle to get one first down than you need to go become an assistant and learn how to adjust. I think he'll be back after some experience just hopefully not Carolina.
  13. They didn't mention Dak (or I missed it) but even out of the 16-20 I think Mayfield would be the last of that group. For Mayfield and our sake let's hope this season is an UP season.
  14. There isn't any benefit from releasing him and maybe sitting back and watching Mayfield will help him in case he has to come in. Corral can learn from both, both good plays and learning what not to do during bad plays. Secondly, as much as I want to see Darnold gone, I'd rather see him than have to put up with another season of PJ Walker earning the minimum salary. While exciting to watch, he couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a Banjo. I know Rhule will be crying in his office because he has to cut a Temple alum.
  15. There should be no excuse for Mayfield not to succeed with this team. We have a great back and some decent backups in the RB room. WR are plentiful and at least one up and coming TE. Our O-line is much improved. If our defense holds the fort we could win our share of games and at minimum be in the conversation for the playoffs. Whether Mayfield is childish or a great team leader. We just need him to execute the offense, mentor our future and give us a chance to be excited this season.
  16. Nice, Like I said it's hard to argue any of these players. Just more of a person preference. I thought about Troy Palamalu at safety as well.
  17. Hard to argue with any of these players most are HOFers or soon to be HOFers. Make your list.
  18. I choose Unitas because he would have been a beast in this pass happy era. Unitas had most of the passing records until they made it easy to pass.
  19. Since we have beat just about every topic to death I thought it might be fun to do something different. With the next game on tap the HOF game I thought it might be different to pick your ultimate team. Here's your criteria Offense 2 Tackles,2 Guards, 1 Center, 2 Tight Ends, 3 WRs 2, RB, 1 QB Defensive 2 Tackles, 2 DE, 4 LBs, 2 CB, 2 Safeties Special Teams 1 punter, 1 Kicker, 1 KR (No long Snapper needed) They don't have to be HOFer at this moment but future ones or someone you think was overlooked or they can be current players. I've listed the team that drafted them. Here's a link to refresh your memory. Hall of Famers by Position | Pro Football Hall of Fame Official Site (profootballhof.com) Here's mine. I tried to sprinkle some old-timers in mine but would probably stand up to anyone's list. Offense T - Orlando Pace Rams, Anthony Munoz Bengals G - Big John Hannah Patriots, Bruce Matthews - Oilers/Titans C. Mick Tinglehoff - Vikings WR, Jerry Rice 49ers, Steve Smith Panthers, Randy Moss Minnesota TE. Travis Kelce Chiefs, Tony Gonzales Chiefs RB Earl Campbell Oilers, Barry Sanders Lions QB Johnny Unitas Baltimore Colts Defense DT - John Randle Vikings, Warren Sapp Bucs DE - Gino Marchetti - Baltimore Colts, Michael Strahan Giants LB - Luke Kuechly Panthers, Ray Nitschke Packers, Lawrence Taylor Giants, Kevin Greene Steelers (Drafted by Ram but primary played DE with them) CB - Deion Sanders Falcons, Darrell Green Redskins S - Ronnie Lott 49ers, Ed Reed Ravens Special Teams P - Reggie Roby Dolphins K. Adam Vinatieri Patriots KR/PR Devin Hester Bears
  20. One of the best articles I have seen on ESPN in a long time. I am the same age as Sam and remember watching him in the USFL and with the Saints. The Saints were perennial losers when I was a teenager. Never really any good and though I was a Giant fan, after Baltimore left for Indy, I was always a fan of underdog teams and thoroughly enjoyed watching the Doom Patrol play. Especially Sam. Truly a beast and though small he stood out every game I saw. When he came to Carolina I was ecstatic because I knew our defense was going to be good along with the other great players we picked up defensively. We needed a leader on defense and he was the perfect fit for a startup team. He was great with N.O. but his legacy grew with us. I can't wait to see him enshrined. @ladypanther Thanks for the post.
  21. Not no, but hell no. Simmons is a basket case who can't shoot. He was traded just to get rid of him. We don't need this type of distraction.
