Tepper with the smokescreen haha. Good move getting a WR not good for Shi Smith -
REPORT: Anthony Richardson was Panthers QB #2
hepcat replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes I am concerned about that too but that’s also something that a good coaching staff can work to fix by scheming receivers open and designing an offense that fits his skill set. Under the previous coaching staff I would have laughed at that being possible with Bryce but I think they have the coaches in place to potentially minimize his weaknesses with scheme. -

Aside from his height and size, Bryce has literally everything you want out of a QB draft prospect. Richardson is literally the exact opposite. Bryce was the right choice. -
Dave Tepper has become a major asset for the Panthers

I'll comment on this in 3 years but I am at least encouraged that he realized what a terrible hire Matt Rhule was, made a 180 and hired the most experienced coaching staff ever assembled, and went big to finally address the QB position in the draft. After a half decade of what seemed like perpetual bad luck and a foot on the Panthers throats keeping them down in the dumps, maybe finally some sunshine is cracking through the clouds. -
No reason to take a TE with Hurst on the team. They have a huge need at LB and DE. Keion White is screaming at them to take him. He could rotate from OLB to 3-4 DE and seems like the kind of player Evero could get the most out of.

Levis is a decent QB to take a dice roll on in the 2nd round if you have a starter for 2023 already lined up. Raiders make sense. Someone will move up in the 2nd and take a gamble on him. In the 1st round you want to take a guaranteed starter and Levis is definitely not that.

Keion White

Yes and I hope we draft him. Immediately puts Gross Mayos out of a job.

I bet they stand pat at 39 and pick this guy https://www.nfl.com/prospects/keion-white/32005748-4931-5646-3479-7fead8c7f5a8

If you look at Bijan next to Bryce there's just no way Bryce is 204
-
Who cares. Corral might have gone undrafted in this draft class. I wanted to give him a shot but when a coaching staff with two former long time NFL QBs on it and a guy who coached Peyton Manning for a long time don't want you, maybe take a hint.
-
After that it’s gonna have to be. Bijan is going to be straight fire.
-
God damn it this was the last place I wanted Bijan to go
-
He looks like the coolest dude in the draft for sure

Cardinals trading up big

Corral was a clear Matt Rhule pick and it's unfortunate he didn't get a shot when he had a staff that wanted him. But the truth is Corral played in a super simple one read offense at Ole Miss and was the 4th QB selected in a historically bad QB class. I believe the reports that Frank Reich doesn't want him and they are willing to trade him for whatever value they can get. We might be a year away from a second QB to see how Bryce does but I don't think any of us would be excited if Dalton has to play any extended period of time this season. Which is why I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a second QB.
-
Literally this. The coaching staff has no interest in keeping Corral. Eason is probably going to be QB3 if they don’t draft someone, and honestly they might just roll with Bryce and Dalton on the active roster. Everyone thought the Redskins were nuts drafting Kirk Cousins after they went up to draft RGIII. Well Cousins is still in the NFL 11 years later and RGIII is a color commentator. Even if Bryce turns out to be a pro bowl QB out the gate I wouldn’t fault this staff for shooting their shot on another QB. As we’ve seen since Cam left, being in QB purgatory sucks. Never miss an opportunity to draft a quality QB prospect. Everything on the roster is secondary after you have your QB.

Let’s say all the rumors and pundits are right, and Bryce Young is drafted by the Panthers tonight. All signs point to the diminutive yet heady QB being the first overall pick. Should the Panthers pull a 2012 Redskins, (who traded up to draft Robert Griffin III 2nd overall, and later drafted Kirk Cousins in the 4th round), and draft another QB? Honestly I am not against it. Maybe later than the 4th round, but I don’t see it being a bad idea. Based on the QBs on the roster, there could be a spot for a later round QB. Andy Dalton is the backup and veteran mentor. But after that there’s Matt Corral, who wasn’t drafted by this staff and was said to be available via trade “for a ham sandwich” earlier this off-season, probably won’t even make the roster as it stands now. Jacob Eason is another practice squad level QB who is most likely just a training camp body. I could definitely see this playing out if the Panthers trade down from one of their other picks. If a player they like doesn’t fall to 39, maybe they trade down a bit and get some later round picks. Who knows. Either way, given Bryce Young’s small size while playing one of the most violent sports on earth, I don’t think hedging the bet is a bad idea.

Turn the huddle into one continuous thread like a chat room on draft day. Reaction threads can wait until Friday

Having a veteran WR like Thielen to mentor younger WRs also makes me think they are drafting a WR with their 2nd round pick or maybe even trading up into the 1st to get one.
-
I hated Matt Rhule and his gang of cronies as much as anyone here and I hated Tepper equally as much for hiring such a certified bozo, but he turned around and hired one of the most experienced QB friendly head coaches in the NFL and put together a staff full of experience to develop a young QB. I think Tepper has made it clear he's deferring to his experienced staff. I'm 100% sure he offered his input. But I think the final call is with Reich with Fitterer a close second.

Knowing how Fitterer likes to maneuver the draft
hepcat replied to byob1013's topic in Carolina Panthers
I could honestly see them trading up to get back into the 1st round if a player they like falls using that high 2nd round pick. If a top WR prospect falls and they have the chance to move up to grab him, I think they will. And like others have said, outside of a few positions like OL, CB, WR, and maybe LB, there aren't a lot of holes based on who is under contract. Personally I'm more in favor of trading down and acquiring picks for future years as well as this year but I think Tepper is hungry to win now and they'll want to get Bryce some weapons. -
I doubt it. They might have still traded up to #2 but I doubt that trade would have happened in March. Fitterer admitted they paid the price they paid because they could “control the draft” at #1. With #1 off the table, and most likely Bryce off the board, they would probably be more patient and evaluate the other QBs before making the trade. We might have seen a draft night trade with different comp if they liked a QB other than Bryce.
