  1. It does add more cap space but agents are going to know that as well. I would expect the asking price between 20-25% of the team’s projected cap space, maybe between $50-60m per year will be the asking price. How often does a QB of his caliber come up for availability? That is 3-4 high end position contracts. Would the sum of those be greater with Darnold than Watson by himself. Even more questions surround the Darnold situation than before if this is true.
  2. I know Watson is an insane talent but the cost is still likely going to be too high. We’ve already seen what happens when you have a franchise QB with a lack of talent surrounding them. You can only go so far. Being cap strapped and likely down 3 1sts and some 2nds would seriously hamper this team’s ability to contend.
  3. Better get some maple syrup for all those pancakes.
  4. I wouldn't really consider yahoo sports as a Panthers fan post. I think it's too early to call as far as best/worst moves go. If Darnold balls out and Irving works at LT, taking Horn will look amazing as long as he works out. I'm not sure I would have taken Fields at 8 if he's the 4th qb on your board. I know the value of the position, but if the coaches aren't sold on him, and they sure have watched a lot more game tape than me, I'm ok with that. I would have liked to have seen a more direct effort to address LT. I wasn't happy about Irving on day 1 of FA when there were going to be other guys available or too much about trading back in 2 to add picks. I get the overall value perspective, but I would have liked to address one of our biggest questions with a rookie on the cheap that could grow into starter by mid season.
  5. I thought we would end up with Sweat. Good thing Snyder wanted Haskins.
  6. Id be ok cutting Grier and looking for a QB with upside that could be a big project. 3rd string QB has some room to play and taking that risk is acceptable. Theres a lot of garbage but every once in a while you find a guy thats worthwhile. Grier isnt good enough and we can do better, or worse. If we are relying on our 3rd string we’re already in trouble anyway.
  7. Bradberry was easily worth more than Shaq. Good corners are hard to find and when you get one you damn sure don't let him walk to keep a LB unless that linebacker is HoF and that definitely isn't Shaq.
  8. I'm more worried about his mental aspect than his athletic abilities. I know they play a part, but having that cerebral aspect under control is so important. Tb12 nor Manning in their physical prime were the athletic threats we consider so important today, but both played the game at an unbelievable level because they had the mental aspect under such control. I'm not comparing Darnold to either, nor do I think he will achieve that level of greatness, but I do hope he can grow that cerebral aspect of his game leaps and bounds and that can make up for his average RAS.
  9. I'm OK with him not looking sharp right now. I'd rather him be getting confused now than during the season. Gase's offense was very scripted and didn't leave a lot of room to read or adjust. And if our defense is as good as we all feel it can be, getting reps against it can only help his development by helping show his gaps in skill and help fix them.
  10. Nothing says loving like a little bit of gummin.
  11. Or maybe we’re seriously disturbed by a man lying on the field in obvious distress and no one reacts. So when you ask yourself why they didnt react, its pretty fugging obvious its because this sport allows it so often nobody pays attention when it happens. Im very happy they saved his life and his wife and kids didn’t lose him. Im also disturbed by the fact players falling over is seen as a joke and not potentially serious.
  12. Seconds matter in response time for life threatening incidents. He died on the field. If they hadnt been able to revive him, how much could those 15 seconds have mattered. Constant flopping prevents quick reaction by medical personnel to actual injuries because they think players are going to pop right back up just like they do 99.9% of the time. It’s the boy who cried wolf on the pitch.
  13. I mean I know we could always sign someone off the street but not right after we put him there.
  14. Denver fans are going to learn it, live it, love it. It's all they're gonna get.
  15. Teddy was making some throws in training camp for us too. Game day was a completely different story. That completion % doesnt mean anything when you cant move the chains.
  16. Everyone should also take the next opportunity to make sure they're an organ donor as well.
  17. Teddy had the chance to go for it and own up to what he said. Instead he just played it safe. No surprise there.
  18. One of the reasons I have been an organ donor since I was 18 and have encouraged everyone in my family to be one as well, even with their kids should something happen. The body is just a shell and I can't think of anything better than giving another person a chance at life.
  19. At first I thought he kind of looks like Nick Jonas but he looks a lot more like his brother Joe.
  20. What happened to Philly wouldn't have happened to Smitty. Taliban would still be looking for his arms after Smitty ripped them off and beat him with them.
  21. And that would be concerning to me given their track record. Part of growth is challenging yourself and Marty and Ron never seemed to do that for each other.
  22. He was in the playoff hunt in one of the worst divisions football has seen. I dont think he wanted to win the division, he just needed it to look like he was trying. They needed a QB and weren't going to get it going 1 and done in the playoffs. Too bad Pederson out tanked him or they could very likely have gotten Fields. Theres really no other explanation for why you would start Haskins, bench him when the game is out of reach, then cut him if you were actually trying to make the playoffs. Even the most ignorant football fan knew Haskins had no business starting that game.
