  1. Oh no! Winning more games? The horror
  2. It’s 5mil a year for a guy who has proven to be a strong backup QB at minimum. With the expanding cap looming, that’s nothing. Personally, I’d much prefer to lock him up for cheap than deal with PJ/Grier backups.
  3. I vote for Trubisky at 5 years/25 mil. $5 mil would put him in top 10 of backup QBs. We would lock up a strong backup who has potential to be a mid tier starter.
  4. My two appealing considerations for resigning Gilmore… 1. It sounds like his wife wants to be in Charlotte closer to home and he could be attainable for cheaper than he’s worth. 2. He would be an ideal example for our young CBs to learn from in the secondary.
  5. I’m still waiting to see what we do with Gilmore. I’m expecting D Jackson to be a free agent. If we resign Gilmore on a team friendly deal, I would look to move one of our plethora of CBs to FS.
  6. Sign James Daniels in free agency. 24 year old guard with experience at center. 5 years/50 mil. This locks up a guard spot with positional flexibility. Then we can try Elf at center and see if it works through the first third of the 22 season. Im currently undecided between targeting a QB or T in the 1st. Right now I would love to trade back and pick Cross somewhere in the 10-15 range and acquire some day 2 picks. I would be hopeful with a line of Cross-Christensen-Elf-Daniels-Moton QB in 23 and try to sign Trubisky to compete with Darnold in 22 (aka start over Darnold).
  7. Your suggestions would have us trade away our best player while crippling our cap. There aren’t a ton of promising outlooks for 2022. Fortunately, things could change quickly with our cap situation going into 2023 and, if played right this off-season, plenty of draft capital + comp picks.
  8. Give me the young guards in free agency. Connor Williams and James Daniels. Both are 24. Let them grow with Moton, Christensen, and perhaps Deonte Brown. Daniels can also play center. Then we can go BPA in the draft. From pff… Connor Williams: Contract Projection: Three years, $20 million ($6.67M per year, $12.5 million total guaranteed) Bottom Line: Another offensive lineman who took a couple of years to get going, Williams stepped up his game with a top-20 grade in 2020 and he's continued that success in 2021. He's a better run blocker than he is a pass-blocker, and he's a mid-tier starting option with scheme diversity. James Daniels Contract Projection: Five years, $50 million ($10M per year, $24M total guaranteed) Bottom Line: Since 2018, Daniels has been productive at both guard positions. He also has experience at center and will turn 25 just after opening day in 2022. Daniels is an excellent fit for a zone-blocking scheme and has been one of the best pass-blocking guards in the league over the last two seasons. His best football may still be ahead of him.
  9. They don’t call him the punt god for no reason. I’ve seen a video where a team has two returners back to account for his long distance and he still punted it over their head.
  10. Could sign Vander Esch for cheap this off-season.
  11. This is the year to snag a QB. Everyone is down on this batch of QBs, but percentages say a couple will work out. Have to snag the right one. The fact that we could get one at a discount because “bad QB class blah blah” is great. Trade back and can still get your guy most likely.
  12. I don’t think it’s fair at all to grade last years draft as a huge failure.
  13. I’m with you and would have preferred that pick. My only point of contention is it likely was the medical staff that steered the staff away from picking Smith. Hard to fault them, if so. The coaches aren’t medical experts.
  14. I’m good with this or…. LT: Christensen LG: Connor Williams (25 yo free agent) C : Tyler Linderbaum (traded back and acquired a 2nd round pick) RG: Deonte Brown RT: Taylor Moton
  15. Many teams passed over Smith due to health concerns. I don’t know why that gets glossed over. Yes, we should have drafted him and so should 30 other teams, but it was likely our medical staff that caused us to pass. I still think D Brown will be a solid guard for us. There are many things to be frustrated about with the current staff, but drafting isn’t one of them imo. Last year’s draft was very solid. Horn was a stud from the jump. Tremble and Christensen have flashed. TMJ is young and talented.
  16. I will because I had to hear why I was an idiot for thinking Trubisky should have been brought in last off-season. Knowing what we know now and what each QB got paid and traded for, we were right to think it. Could not have done worse. Likely would have been better this year and still have draft capital and cap space.
  17. Here are the players drafted in 2018 whose option was declined and would not cancel out against comp picks: Josh Rosen, QB Leighton Vander Esch, LB Billy Price, C Rashaan Evans, LB Hayden Hurst, TE Rashaad Penny, RB Terrell Edmunds, S Taven Bryan, DT Mike Hughes, CB Sony Michel, RB
  18. We can sign free agents that would not cancel out comp picks. They are…. -Players not in the top 35% of contracts signed by FAs for that year; ranked by average $ per year for the contract signed -Players who were cut by their team -Players whose options were not exercised -Players on transition tags -Players who are restricted FAs -Players who sign a Veteran Salary Benefit contract Source: https://overthecap.com/the-basics-and-methodology-of-projecting-the-nfls-compensatory-draft-picks/
  19. I wonder if he considered CB before settling on C.
  20. I can’t understand why people think Cam can still be a full time starter at QB. Unless your goal is to secure the a top 3 pick in the 2023 draft, he should only be used in short yardage situations.
  21. Let Reddick go. Get 3rd rd comp in 2023 Let Jackson go. Get ~4th rd comp in 2023 Resign Gilmore for 2 yr - 8 mil per max. If he wants more, move on. Resign Luvu, Gonzalez, Jansen (if he doesn’t want to retire), Abdullah, and Carter (if he’s willing to sign as a depth piece). Sign Trubisky to compete with Darnold.
  22. What’s your thoughts on CMC?
