For me, the way we lost today should be fatal to Wilks' chances to be a HC. Understandably, we were quite thin with corners but allowing an offense that has looked incompetent the entire year to go off like that when your speciality is defense is malpractice. Same if you're supposed to be an offensive guru and you struggle to score more than 10 points. If the team struggles in your speciality, that's a red flag.

Can Sam Darnold play himself into becoming the 2023 starter?
outlaw4 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
The real question is who could viably be the 2023 starter if it's not Sam Darnold. We may not want him but we may have to keep him around in case something like starting Corral or the next rookie doesn't work out. -
MIchigan choke job complete.

I'm assuming college rules are different because I though the receiver wouldn't be considered down until touched and they weren't before rolling into the end zone.

The Rhule vs Hackett game to decide the worst coach in the NFL this season never happened but I'll give the "victory" to Rhule because he lasted longer, I suppose.

I'll let a former coach of ours speak for me...

Eddy Pineiro playing well enough to stick around?
outlaw4 replied to Captroop's topic in Carolina Panthers
He can stay until he gets the yips again. And he will but that seems to be the trend nowadays in that position. Only way to fix it is going somewhere else. -
Lmao.... Panthers still control their own destiny....

If only our team wouldn’t trip over themselves every time we're in this scenario. -
The Cowboys just lost on a pick 6. This Sunday was not a complete waste after all.

Wilks fits the Panthers mold of being just good enough to raise our hopes only to crush them when there are actual expectations. Basically back to where we had been.

Sick and tired of losing the Steelers every single damn time.

Matt Ryan, loser in infamy...
-
My god, if the Colts lose this game, Matt Ryan is going to have both 28-3 AND being the loser on the biggest NFL comeback in history.

The more important aspect between Saints vs Falcons is Desmond Ridder's performance. Anything giving the Falcons hope about success at QB, even in the short term, does not bode well for us.

Brock Purdy and why we don't need to draft a 1st round QB
outlaw4 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also a more favorable schedule. Dolphins seemed like a quality win but Tua's recent downturn gives me pause. Not really a quality opponent until the playoffs either. May not get clearer answers until then. -
The draft capital needed for the best QBs this draft will be too high and frankly, they just don't excite me. Corral is such a huge unknown, especially he had a significant injury. Too risky to put all our chips on him. Darnold isn't starter material but the available free agent QBs are full of prior Panthers QB rejects or a questionable upgrade. Brissett might be the best bridge QB but he'll probably ask for too much. So yeah, options don't look good. A lot depends on the direction we go on offense for next season. I'd say draft someone later in the draft that is a system fit and either keep Darnold as a bridge or swap him out for someone that doesn't break the bank. Then add more pieces elsewhere.

Someone has to win this awful division and you never know what can happen in the playoffs. Broncos won basically without a QB so why not do it ourselves?

Didn't dawn on me until just now that all the cat teams won this weekend.

Watching our Uglies create lanes for our backs and demoralizing all the Seahawks fans around me again and again was quite satisfying, especially on that final TD drive. I'll need to watch the TV broadcast but seemed like it was not the best of days for pass protection. Started okay but felt like Sam was being pressured more often than he should've been given the limited pass attempts.

Getting a W against the Steelers would be another demon. Don't care if they are not what they used to be but had enough of getting absolutely demolished by them every single time.

Probably more of how Rhule was all talk and no show. Wilks prior history helps in this situation although I still get this nagging feeling Wilks can only get us back to where we had been before; mediocrity. And to echo others, no way I want to keep Wilks if that means McAdoo stays as OC. Very little of what I saw from the stands impressed me.

Seeing this really peeved me off. I hope they weren't short by design. The early turnover was massive and our defense stifled their few run attempts. When we got pressure on Geno's face, he struggled but it didn't look like our front four were able to do so by themselves. It is concerning giving up easy TDs near the end of both halfs.

I thought it was just a really hard catch in traffic from my seat. Obviously, the whole stadium thought it hit the ground but none of the homer angles showed anything definitive.
-
Mad at myself I didn't get the Horn pick on my phone but even from my seat, I was amazed how he had the instincts to place himself in prime position. Really thought he was going to score as well. Thought the other play was a pick until I saw the clip just now. A bit academic in retrospect.

Not sure what else I could've asked for watching the Panthers live the second time. Scoring first, Jacyee Horn INT, Darnold TD, our backs gashing down the field and an actual win on the road against one of our bugaboo teams. Well, ok, giving up a late TD so easily and an onside kick was not ideal but now I could say I watched an attempt live.
