  1. I was going to say our division stinks yet again although... I know the Dolphins haven't played yet but yikes. Bills now know what it was like being the Patriots back in the day.
  2. Biggest factor is not so much the offense, per se, but whether our defense can keep up the big boost in performance from historically awful to spurts of competence. That said... Chiefs: Bryce could have his career best day while the defense plays inspired and we still lose because they have the football gods (and the refs) on their side. Bucs: Mike Evans should be back by this point. That's not good news for us, but division games are always a wild card. Really comes down to whether we can get Mayfield to have a performance like today against the 49ers. There's a chance but not a great one. Eagles: Too much offensive power to counter. Cowboys: Most winnable game. If today's performance is their baseline, might also be the only time we'll be favored to win. Cardinals: This is an odd one. They're leading their division and seem to be playing better than expected. We did lose the last time we faced them, but we historically tend to have their number for some reason. One of those games where we could either lose as expected or mysteriously blow them out. Bucs: I'll say it comes down to whether our unit as a whole keeps getting a little better with more games. Falcons: I'll say no because even if we do get better over time, we can't win a shootout with them.
  3. Looking at some more overall stats today, some things stick out with the passing. Russell wins but with a 50% completion ratio and just shy of 200 yards. Herbert won only with 164 yards. Mahomes YPA was a mediocre 6.3. Mayfield, 116 yards! Kyler Murray was 22/24. Also, Chuba's still the rush leader so far. With a bit of luck, he'll be the top rusher this week.
  4. I think Lance just answered your question.
  5. I made myself suffer and watched that game's "highlights". Obviously couldn't get a full picture, but their tackles were iffy and the O-line generally did not hold up well whenever the Patriots brought pressure. Pass/run ratio also not good.
  6. I could see Daboll getting fired and then going to the Bears believing he could work with Caleb.
  7. Chicago QBs getting sacked had been a problem in the past. The fact that it's happening again tells me there's a deeper issue. Maybe the line is bad and/or the offensive scheme is getting their QBs killed. Whatever the case, this is how you ruin your rookie QBs. This is how they pick up bad habits and lose their confidence.
  8. Just took a peek at some stats... Caleb Williams - 16/30 120 Yards, 9 sacks! All that investment on offense and they do worse than us? What is going on?
  9. Jacksonville D blows it with a silly penalty for the L.
  10. Denver's GW kick got blocked. Of course it did.
  11. Second week in our row our defense had stretches of looking like an actual defense. And the turnovers, those were impressive. Tipped pass INT, juggling a slightly behind throw INT and then a peanut punch fumble that decided the game. - Chuba, obviously. - Numbers aren't explosive in the slightest but Bryce did have some good throws, avoided any major mistakes and some of his bad habits like scrambling out of the pocket prematurely and taking unnecessary sacks were not really there. Going back to Dalton feels more like a sideways move now, especially how awful Dalton fell off. - Legette and Coker co-leaders iin receptions. They both did have a bad drop but then again, they are both rookies. Even if BY doesn't work out, these kids aren't going anywhere for a while. - Eddy P didn't Gano the game-winner.
  12. Denver up 14-3 against KC? Oh, but there's a flag. Of course the refs will try to bail out the Chiefs.
  13. If you're going to be fired and left behind, drowning your sorrows in Munich doesn't sound as bad.
  14. Well, he got an early sack but only because we decided calling a rollout to his side was a good idea. A hit, maybe and... oh, he got hurt on one play. Revenge denied.
  15. I keep saying it but Canales gets too cute sometimes, especially when working with a QB who's trying to regain his confidence and who is throwing to mostly rookies who are going to flash but also be inconsistent with drops and routes. That said, from what I see on the field and on the sidelines, the overall team mood seems a lot better. They know they aren't very good right now, but it's not like it's a funeral either.
  16. Other than the Chuba fumble, offense didn't have any major screwups. Considering the Giants pass rush, we mostly kept to we should be doing most weeks. But this was a massive W for our much maligned defense. Yes, bad opponent, but they didn't get gashed on every single drive. They had pressures, run stops and most importantly, turnovers. And the last one wasn't a gimme. It was punched out. The D earned that one. Canales has a difficult job trying to build a winning culture with what little he has. The few chances he has to build up the confidence of a lot of the young players we have, he needs to take advantage. The win may not help our draft position but it helps him in keeping the team together. And finally, snice the team's on a bye next week, this was essentially the closest game to my birthday. Of course I'll accept the W, even if the cake is a bit of a mess.
  17. Can't tell if Coker got slowed but yeah definite contact.
  18. I was going to praise the defense but then they gave up a 96 yard drive.
  19. Those penalties would've doomed us before, but great recovery. Can defense actually hold up, however?
  20. Did not have our defense pitting a shutout for the first half on my bingo card.
