  1. You can't argue that logic. It's the exact inverse of what Rivera said last year when KB went down. You don't replace the player, you replace the production. I honestly see Ginn's numbers dropping like crazy this season; he's going from #1 receiver (which he was never intended to be) to # 3 (unless Funchess hasn't progressed at all, which is unlikely). We'll likely have several cut receivers in other teams' jerseys this season. How weird is that?
  2. He's also got that whole punt return thing going for him. That helps his chances.
  3. It's hard to find anything not to like about this guy, I just wish he was a little more talented. I'd be very surprised if he weren't the odd man out this year. I wish him a long and prosperous career in the arena league.
  4. OK, I'm in total agreement with Defense with the caveat that Cox may beat out Declaire or Horton. As for offense, there are several battles lining up: Hill vs Garrett (does Norwood or Byrd fight their way onto the roster??) Wegher vs Fozzy Foulcault vs Rigsbee (I know Rigsbee projects as a guard in the NFL, but Ron loves versatility in his back up O-linemen , and frankly Foulcault has shown nothing that would make me believe that he shouldn't have stayed in Canada) Mostly, I'm just happy to be actually talking football, even if it is speculative!
  5. Sounds like a smart kid. Dave said he had a 2nd round grade on him and bradberry, so this should be a nice competition to watch in preseason. Looks like the first point goes to Worley.
  6. He's the draft pick that I'm most excited about. Butler is money in the bank, he never should have been available at 30. The beauty of triple dipping at CB is that certainly 1 of them will work out opposite Bene (even if Sanchez is more of a nickle role, Boykin can slide outside). That leaves Beau! I was big on drafting a TE, first Henry, then Vannett. To get one with so much up side with next to the last pick could be the ultimate steal!
  7. Of course it's not gonna happen, but AJ will most likely be starting on another team next year and is a proven commodity, he did very well while Luke was out last season. I think he'd be worth a 2nd round pick. Maybe not as high as 38, but I was kinda going for wow factor here.
  8. I like you're picks. I've been on the Hunter train from day 1 (I would have taken him at 30). Sterling Shepard and Mackensie Alexander are still out there as well. Come on G-man, make us proud.
  9. Panthers trade AJ Klein to the Jags for their 2nd (38) and 6th (181) round picks. Then grab Ogbah at 38 (screwing the Bucs in the process!). We then trade picks 62 and 168 to the cheifs for pick 59 allowing us to snatch up Derrick Henry, thus screwing the Cheatriots! G-money becomes the first GM to be carried out of a draft on the shoulders of the fans! Mayo turns out to be even better than AJ.
  10. Probably would still have to sweeten the deal with our 4th or 5th rd pick to get top 10 today, but I like the idea . There is still a crap ton of talent out there. The Rams are sitting on 43 and 45 ; not quite top 10, but there will most likely be some players left that had first round grades.
  11. We traded our 2nd (57), 3rd (89) and a 6th (201) to jump up 16 spots and grab Funchess at 41. the chart is only a basic tool, every GM places different value on picks. Basically, # 252 is next to useless, so I could see us only having a fourth or fifth round pick left. but for 2 top 50 picks...it may be worth it.
  12. Is Finnegan and Tillman still around? I know that neither has been signed, but they both still have some game left, and (especially Tillman) have a lot to teach younger guys.
  13. According to the "NFL Draft Value Chart", moving from 62 to 45 would cost us our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th round picks. While I agree that it may be worth it for the right player (Shepard?), that's a lot of eggs in 1 basket. http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php
  14. I doubt we draft more than 4 players this season, and if we end up with only 3 studs, I'm fine with that. As Igo points out, we will end up cutting good players this season (both Deangelo and Todman had decent runs with the Steelers last season after we cut them). Anyone we bring in needs to be an improvement (within the next couple of seasons) over someone we have, or be a depth player who can make an immediate impact on ST (see Mayo from last draft).
  15. Hard to be upset about any of these picks. Hunter Henry would be my favorite because I think he has the rarest talent in the whole draft; a TE with his skill set only comes along once in a while. I haven't looked at Butler much because I assume he will go before 30, but he'd be a no brainer at 30 (thanks for the film). Ogbah will most likely be the best DE available at 30 and is definitely worth a 1st round pick. Derrick Henry scares me a bit because he has potential to be a miss. He has a high center of gravity and has been used a lot at Bama. I worry about his legs taking too much punishment, but if G-man likes him at 30 who the hell am I to argue? So, that's my preference order if all 4 are on the board at 30: H. Henry, Butler, Ogbah, D. Henry.
  16. Von miller is a punk, but I'm OK with trash talk. He earned the right with his playoff performances. However, I honestly hope we end Aquib Talib's career after that poo he pulled on Philly! I hate that guy.
  17. I think that when G-man talks about BPA, he really means that he isn't going to reach to fill an obvious need (like OT was in 2014, and we thought it was in 2015). In the inverse, he is not going to draft a player that we have absolutely no need for (QB). And I agree that Shaq was a bit of a luxury pick last year, but we have him on the cheap for 5 years and TD is under contract for 2 and will be 35 when that runs out with a body that he has torn apart for us. Shaq is a need, and we were in the position that he didn't have to be an every down contributor as a rookie. For what it's worth, we are in that same position this year.
  18. " 51 catches in 2015 with zero drops " 'nuff said!
  19. I like it. A second TE is our biggest need on offense Imo. Especially considering that any starting tackles will be gone at 30.this guy is plug and play
  20. Say it ain't so! I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Tillman left on his own. He's had a hell of a career and a lot of injuries. He could sign a friendly contract for a shot at SB51. If so, cool. He balled out until his injury. I hope Tolbert is back! Finnegan will likely re-retire and McClain still has a lot to prove in preseason. I to would love to see a receiver that is sure handed. He doesn't have to be a mountain like KB or Funches or a speedster like Ginn and Philly, but he needs to catch the ball when it hits him in the hands. A younger version of Cotchery that Cam can use as a safety valve.
  21. If anyone has earned a spot, it's Ginn. He stepped up huge this season. Next season he'll have luxury of not being forced into a #1 receiver role. Plus he only costs us 1.4 million and is a viable punt returner. Not so sure about Harper. I think Boston (or a new guy) takes his starting spot, but he could still be an asset if he works cheap. Especially if we draft a safety that he can mentor.
  22. I think that Tre, Ealy, and Shaq will all get a lot more snaps than they usually would, but Ron will "start" the vets. The youngsters all definitely showed up big time against the Cardinals.
  23. Nice of him to give Gano some some love (although I assume it was purely for rhyming reasons)
