Panthers Vs Bucs Gameday Thread 1pm

Let's get the win and start 2023 right! -
I've come to the point where I'm not trading picks for a college player who may or may not ever develop. I might trade some picks for a proven NFL player during the season when I can see how they are doing. But man, trading picks away for the chance to get a Vince Young or an aging Russell Wilson... I think wiser teams stick to what they have in the draft and then spend most of their resources looking to pick up the right free agents in the offseason who can fill needs. Fitterer, seems to be getting better at that, especially if you look at our offensive line. How about we take some time to build a strong foundation without trading away tomorrow. Too many people are willing to trade for those magic beans...

remember when the Panthers hardly ever ran a screen
Khyber53 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm so sick of bubble screens. Every fifth play let's wing it out to a poorly protected receiver who might gain two yards. We don't have Jake behind center and Smitty on the wing anymore. Just pass it down the damn field. A DB is going to snag one of those and take it to the house eventually on us. -
Been saying it for years.

Neat little place but that was one scary dude hiding out in there. As a person born and raised in the NC mountains, I would like to point out that the guy moved here from up north... just sayin'.

Baldy Breakdowns on Panthers physical o-line and run game
Khyber53 replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
Brian Baldinger is by far my favorite football commentator to listen to. -
Our offensive line will dominate and our defense will pressure Brady on every play to make up for thinness in our DBs. Tom's Terrible Not So Good Where Did It All Go? year will be on its final gasps. After his fourth sack, he'll be contemplating calling Gisele to reconcile, as he should have back in July. Panthers 28 Bucs 6

In this crazy ass year the addition of the eccentric Josh Norman just seems like the right thing to do. Good luck to you Josh, go out there and make some noise!
-
Yeah, he's probably already made an appointment and bought plane tickets. He may be in the driveway already waiting on his Uber.
-
I'd hope so, but if that's the best offer he has as a head coach and there's a pile of money there, he should take it. They've got a lot to work with on the field as it stands now. The cupboard is a bit bare for down the road, but the Broncos are a team that needs motivation and cohesion more than anything. Wilks can provide that with room to spare. He could go a long way just by simply finding the right guy to work out a game plan that Wilson can make good use of.
-
I'm betting that Wilks will be interviewed for Broncos HC job.

So next week’s game against the Bucs is definitely rigged, right?
Khyber53 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
It won't be "rigged" but honestly, if I were a D-lineman going in for a sack, I'd make sure I earned that 15-yard penalty you know they'll throw if TB12 goes horizontal. I don't want to see anyone getting injured but some of those calls he's gotten this year... or this career... Let's just run it down their throats again and only give them the ball for 12 minutes. That'll fix it. -
Good for Baker. He got out from under Rhule and got another chance at making it in this league. Can't say he's done anything but make the most of it. Cheers to the guy!

All of this year's QBs for us got better once Rhule was sent packing. Amazing, huh?

Push To The Superbowl Panthers Lions GameDay Thread
Khyber53 replied to Catsfan69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ahh, the late season games have certainly become "can't miss" viewings for us thanks to Wilks and Co. No one saw this coming. Let's just enjoy it for whatever it becomes! -
This, 100 percent. Sam played without fear and stood strong in the pocket. When he was called on to throw, he did it decisively and made smart choices. And he showed that he still can throw the long ball, accurately. And for a guy who doesn't like to run it, he did an excellent job of it when called on. He's playing mistake free football, he's playing within his skill set and he's become a much, much better student of reading the defense. He's playing the best football of his career and he's won three out of four starts. I'm not sure what more you could ask of the guy. He deserves some respect for what he is doing out there. He got out from under bad coaching and has made the most of his time in waiting. The guy has matured. And he's definitely working that Yukon Cornelius thing to the max right now. Enjoy the damned games and give the guy a break.

Right now, the game plan has been made to work within Darnold's capabilities balanced with the capabilities of the team. That sounds simplistically stupid, but it is something we have not done since Rhule was brought on board. If you do that, then a fair to decent QB can get some wins for you, sometimes even enough wins to make a splash. Had Darnold had that from the beginning here, we might have seen him develop into a fair to good QB. He didn't have it until the last couple/three games. He could still improve as the season winds down and that'd be a good thing for him and for us. Good for him in that someone is going to take a flyer on him as a backup QB, one of the best jobs in the world. Good for us because well, we need some wins if for nothing else than to get our organization used to winning again. It could also be that he'd make a decent back up QB here. Me, I want to see what Corral has, I feel he and we got cheated out of that this season with the injury. I'd like to see us grab one of the more experienced QBs out there that is aging out of the physical side of the game who can help teach him how to read pro defenses and make the appropriate adjustments. Of course, it all depends on who our coach will be. We can expect a quick decision there because our off season will require a lot of meshing between management and new coaching staffs. This is going to be dizzying and change could be drastic here.

Gosh what a player. I remember watching him just tearing through the line and rumbling down the field. Never shied from contact and made use of every pad that a football player could stuff under their uniform. He and Rocky Blier were the original double trouble. We lost one of the great ones, but at least we got to see him play and generations in the future will, too.
-
If you don't have a good center, it doesn't matter sh!t if you have a good QB. Bozeman can hold down the position and bring that line together for the next five years easily, perhaps longer. Heck, Jeff van Note played 19 seasons as a center... Bring him into the office, ask how much he wants, how long he wants to be here and write that down as his contract. Pay the man.

That 21 play drive was the most plays in a drive since
Khyber53 replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
That is basically having your way with your opponent when it comes to smash mouth football. Tomlin provided Wilks with a classroom lesson there.
