  1. Oh he's definitely an improvement. The question is how much?
  2. Sources keep reporting that there is disagreement in the building on Baker. Some want him and some don't. I think the question is who is pro-Baker and who is anti-Baker? If we do or don't get him, it's not really going to matter. It's just a matter of trying to discern who has the most stroke on the personnel moves(and if it has actually changed). Also speculating on motivations for the move. Even if we knew who was more pro or anti Baker, it wouldn't come close to the complete picture. It's the offseason, so it's just conversation fodder, basically. It's not going to mean anything until after next season is over anyway. Once we know the actual results of whatever happens.
  3. Yeah but he was also the "spray and pray" at QB guy, so it doesn't necessarily NOT fit. Remember that we almost took two QB's in the draft. My guess is that Fitterer views this as a situation where having multiple shots at a QB increases the chances of getting a hit. That is if he indeed is the primary guy pushing for Baker. Which, if Rhule is once again pushing for another QB, this is just shades of the past and there isn't any real change in the power dynamic between Fitterer and Rhule, as was rumored.
  4. Well I am starting from the assumption(which is not wise considering the Darnold move) that the draft capital we are offering is pretty low(5th round or later). The one year rental makes sense if you are about to get fired. There is a level of everyone involved here probably realizing that the end may well be nigh if they keep losing at the rate they are. It doesn't move the needle as far as actual future of the franchise but it might buy you a little bit more breathing room if it works out. The mentor thing is completely overblown by just about every fan in existence. Darnold isn't there to mentor anyone. Baker wouldn't be here to mentor anyone. You are there fighting for your job. Doesn't mean that you don't learn because you are in the same QB room but the idea that you keep a QB around to specifically teach a younger QB for the future doesn't work as well in reality. I'd say it's much more akin to a "learn by watching."
  5. Have seen zero sources. It was just said on here a few times. No one has been able to provide a source to my knowledge.
  6. Indeed. Hence the heavy use of qualifiers on it. I would be genuinely surprised if Fitterer wanted Baker more than Rhule. It just seems like such a no-brainer that Baker would be a Rhule want.
  7. Yeah, we don't actually know what the situation is. Perhaps Rhule lost some power or perhaps not.
  8. Very possible too. I think the owner meddling directly in personnel would be a five alarm fire. Especially this owner.
  9. Yes. Hence the reply. I mean, it's fun to say that but thr coschbis responsible for who plays. If you are hurting the team because of health, the plug needs to be pulled. Cam's situation was insanely obvious to everyone. EVERYONE. Yet no change was made. At best Ron offered up, "Well he said he was okay." So does that mean you don't have to use your brain or eyes anymore? Same with Baker. if he is struggling that badly with an injury, why do you allow him to drag the team down?
  10. Supposedly it's been Fitterer pushing the Baker deal and Rhule hasn't been necessarily on board with the Baker trade. If true, that is exactly the opposite way I would have predicted that situation to be.
  11. Boy does that ever sound familiar. That you Ron Rivera?
  12. I'd argue the OL was more responsible in the end. And, honestly, Cam was responsible too.
  13. Sounds familiar. Much like the Cam Newton situation, doesn't the coaching staff bear a fair amount of responsibility for not giving the player the hook if an injury is obviously causing an issue with playing ability?
  14. Don't cook the hopium too long or it will become copium.
  15. I am say with 100% certainty that it is a maybe.
  16. I could see Taylor potentially competing for that spot if Henderson isn't good.
  17. Yeah, that dude has killed my enthusiasm for much of anything Panthers related. But, if at least a couple of these young players pan out, we have something to build on for the next staff.
  18. Yeah, it would be nice to see a turnaround. I just have lost the faith in it. I was cautiously optimistic after year 1 but they lost me in the last couple of offseasons(and last season).
  19. Listen....I didn't specify. The important thing was that the meme was complete.
  20. But the thing is.....the opposite has happened. If anything this is one of the best periods for young QB's in a long time. The doldrums were because there was a derth of elite QB talent coming into the NFL and also the NFL wasn't doing something smart, which was tailoring offenses around their new QB's skills instead of trying to shoe horn them into whatever offense it was running. Plus with the insane level of training available to young athletes now, players should be much, much better prepared for the NFL.
  21. Yeah, I don't expect coverage to ever be as good as it was pre-Tepper.
