God, that sucks! I hope you and your wife are able to stay healthy. People seem to think that teachers are disposable. Like we are easily replaceable. When enough teachers quit, and there are no new ones in the pipelines (UNC system teacher ed programs are drying up); only then will the public have to realize what they have done to their kids.

That's just tragic. Then again, I feel that way a long when hearing about people dying before their time. Sucks all around.

I hope he's earned his right to a roster spot in 2021. Dude has been a long shot, but worked his butt off. He's also come so far. I love this guy, and I hope Rhule and staff do as well. Talk about the process.. He went from a dude with tools, to a man of a DL!

I am very worried about trading up, or for any other QB. The market is nuts, multiple 1sts, 2nds, etc. You're giving up three years of prime draft capital HOPING that this guy can change your franchise's direction. As we've seen, no QB is ever a given savior. At this point, I'd rather just take the BPA, most solid blue chip player, and look for other QBs later in the draft.

I never got into the table top, but I can absolutely fall into the setting. I've found myself getting sucked into lore videos and wiki holes for far too long to be productive! It's a very interesting setting!

I loved nearly every minute of GoT. The problems, like @Zaximus said, was that they hurried things too much to get to the ending. There is some filler over the 8 seasons, but the vast majority is great. Characters that are dynamic, interesting and fallible. I wish the final arc had been given a little more time to stew. The negative feedback is warranted in some regards, but for some of us, it made sense. Not everything has to be fan service.

Vaccinate teachers. Problem solved. After listening and reading all the stupid crap the general public has said, put your vaccines where your mouth is. Get us the vaccinations. If you expect teachers and faculty to be in rooms with 25-45 kids all day, get us vaccinated.

It helps when you have two very good rush ends playing against back up OTs. Then the interior push does a lot more damage, and makes things easier for the rest of the LBs and DBs to do their jobs. It was really impressive to see Bowles defense kick it into high gear in the biggest game of the year. From the get go, the Bucs D was out for blood. So I guess we should really consider the importance of line building. You need OL to protect against that kind of front (which probably won't be the same next year), and a DL to disrupt these elite level QBs.

On a random internet speculation, I saw someone say that the unnamed person Rambo was talking about could be Reed Richards of Fantastic Four fame. This could be a show that helps to bridge the gap and bring in some other great Marvel characters from Fox.

I decided to fire up an episode that I was partially finished with, and ended up watching that one, and two more! Sheesh! So good! There are also good "pauses" where the commercials would go. Just really well written, even for the commercial structure!

I searched before I started my thread =P But regardless, I was hooked hard in the first five minutes of black screen exposition. I love this kind of near future sci-fi. I am at episode 6 of season 2 right now. I'm doing the best I can with my family lol =P I love how it's not preachy, it's just people dealing with an overall bad situation.

I know, I'm slow on the uptake here! But I just started watching this show, and I am completely engrossed. I'm at the end of season 1, and holy cow! I've heard season 2 and up get better. Well written, directed, and done over all. I love the visuals. Everything looks very real in a sense that it could totally work that way. I can't wait to tear through the rest of this show!

This has been a thing for a LONG time, prior to the pandemic. Also, keep in mind that most teachers don't have a choice about remaining virtual compared to in-person. One thing that sticks out to me in this debate has been how the proponents of returning to in-person always talk about the grades, failure, getting behind and a litany of other things which do no matter. I'm in my 17th year of teaching, and I've realized that the most important lessons aren't learned from direct instruction. It's all of the socializing, dealing with crap from peers and teachers, learning to function, and how to learn a skill. They won't use 90% of what they learn, but they will be taught things the rest of their life. That why content based testing is such a poor metric for success. In 17 years, I've seen my fair share of kids who had perfect attendance who did not learn how to function. They might have great grades, but fail out of college. Academics don't matter if the kids don't learn how to function at home. When we talk about the funding gap between inner city schools and suburban schools, it has much more to do with the type of experiences and general attitude of the school more so than having the newest textbooks or computers running out the ying-yang. Kids remember experiences. They develop skills over time (several school years). Those things are being missed. But it comes down to if the kids really mattered, then COVID would have been handled better from the get go. School funding wouldn't be an issue, and teacher training wouldn't be concentrating so hard on the TESTING.

I talked about this in a TB post, but I've also been thinking a lot about it (I dunno, my job I guess) as we get ready to return to in person instruction at my school. COVID has shown how fragile our country is. Most of us depend on jobs that have been severely impacted by shutdowns. Many people are dealing with the physical, emotional, and financial disasters that COVID inflicts and leaves on the survivors. We are truly interdependent upon each other, despite the most furious responses from bootstrappers! At this point, in person school should be a goal. A reward, if you will, for people getting their communities in order over the vaccine. People should also know that in person school right now is not real school. No hands on assignments, no small group work, no relating to your peers. It's kind of like prison. Or more generously, it's a place where your kids go to be supervised doing online work. Fun? Right? Teachers and school staff should have been way up the list of people who needed to get vaccinated. Right now, schools are having real trouble keeping teachers in their classrooms due to the rampant community spread and the need to quarantine. Healthy schools are vital to the success of the community. They need to be treated as such. That doesn't let parents off the hook because they need to be engaged with their kids. When I was in my methods class, a speaker from a local school system came and and talked about the social contract that exists between schools and communities. The gist was that they needed to work hand in hand. Right now, there is such an adversarial relationship between communities and schools. It needs to come back together. People need to realize that schools are here to help.

I always thought that was the way to go. My parents were OK with it, but my GF's parents never were. To me, it helped me realize I didn't need to marry one girl! A year lease is a LOT cheaper than a marriage!

Man, this show is so well crafted! So I pay attention to things like the aspect ratios, the video specs (like 30 frames video versus 24 FPS for film), and the color grading. When episode four fired up I was like "wait, they've gone all cinematic??" Which then makes sense because we returned to the MCU after all. Super fascinating! I can't wait to see what happens as Wanda continues to grieve for Vision. Though we are starting to see Vision become more aware of things in Wanda's world. I wonder how all of that will play out.

It's going to be quite interesting come draft night. I can absolutely see the Panthers picking Jones at 8. Or trading down to like 12 to pick him and get another pick. Or drafting the best OT on the board. Or best skill player. Or....well anyone else. There are a lot of scenarios being played out, and one thing we all can recognize about the draft is that it never goes to plan. There are crazy trades up and down, teams drafting 2nd rounders in the top 10, and the rise and fall of draft picks on the day of the draft...

Everyone has a price in the NFL, but you'd have to really be sure you are as good a team builder as you think you are. 2 1sts, 2 2nds, Brown, Chinn and Burns for a 25 year old QB with a $40 million cap hit after the season. While the Panthers do have some good talent, and Watson would be a fantastic addition; there's isn't too much else there. Sure, we have a really good set of WRs, but Samuel is probably gone leaving Robby and DJ and....a bunch of JAGs. OL pretty spotty, even with resigning Moton. CMC is fantastic, but he's going to be dependent on who gets him the ball and who can block for him. On defense, giving up those three leaves us with mostly nothing. Shaq's a great guy, but he's not a world changing LB. Then we have a bunch of rookies or untested guys. So while I'd love to have Watson, losing him for that amount would set us back 3-4 years. I'm not a fan at all of leaving the cupboard that bare. If Houston wants value, they need to get this done before the draft. If they try to sit on Watson until training camp, they aren't going to get anything near what they would over the next two to three months.

I agree that there are a lot of things that go into a 4th quarter comeback. But at the end of the day, the QB is the most important position on a football team. It is up the the marriage of the coach, OC, and the QB to make these plays happen. There is so much that goes into that final 4-2 minute offense when the game is on the line. But the coach can't suit up. It's up to the QB. If they can't pull the trigger when needed to make the plays, then what can you do? Like how many times at the end of games did Teddy throw a 2 yard route on a 8 yards to go? At the end of the day, as a fan and keyboard warrior, I feel like we need someone who has the moxie and the playmaking ability to get the ball where it needs to go. If Brady was the cause of Teddy's issues, then fire him and find someone else who can do a better job.

You can't coach player confidence. You can give them a system, teach them the reads, drill those situations, etc. But at the end of the day, you can't play for them. As much as I like Teddy B the person, he doesn't have the IT a NFL QB needs. Teddy is a perfectly serviceable QB who can win you some games. But when you need the QB to make some plays, he's shown that he's too risk adverse. Think about KC. They are literally never out of it because we've seen for the past three season Patrick Mahomes do some bat-poo crazy things to score a boatload of points. Or Brady? Or even Brees? What about Jake? Or even Cam? You need a QB who you can get behind. Not a QB who will keep you behind.

But finding out that it's putting leverage on a billionaire makes me smile. My hope though is for the actual employees of GameStop. Not sure what good can come for them, but I just hope for their betterment.

I just got caught up with all three episodes...Holy poop! What an incredible series thus far! Yes, it's better than The Mandalorian, but it shouldn't take away from that show. Mando is very much a Space Western, which has it's charm. I LOVE the different themed episodes. I'm very curious how Wanda was able to expel the "friend" who helped her birth her babies, and how "real" that world is. Are we going to 80s, Wonder Years vibe this Friday? I wonder if Wanda is in the center of this "storm" she created as she processes her grief with Vision's death? Or since we've seen some segments of Vision alone, if she somehow brought him back from the dead since he is an AI. I can't wait to see more!
