  1. I don't have a problem with Payton as head coach, but we better not give up two 1st round picks for him. I can live with next year's 1st, but anything more other than a 4th or lower on top of that is too much.
  2. I still want Shane Steichen with Vic Fangio as DC.
  3. Is it really because of Walkes' death or are they using that as an excuse to give Nicole time to undergo her diversity hiring training before they can resume interviewing candidates?
  4. Before anyone starts suggesting Wilks as HC with Byron Leftwich as OC...
  5. Being able to interview assistants from playoff teams in-person immediately would help speed all this up.
  6. Two 1st rounders is too much. Just hire Steichen.
  7. I feel like "settling" is an appropriate word for how I would feel if we hire Steve Wilks. He's fine, but he ain't winning any championships.
  8. What does that have to do with anything in 2023? Do you think he's going to be paying defenders to target D.J. Moore in practice? I don't get it. We're hiring a football coach, not a boy scout. I'm sure his days of doing anything bounty related are long over.
  9. We know. Lord. Do you really think that sort of thing was exclusive to the Saints? I'm pretty sure many teams had similar things going on, especially the farther back you go. I'm not excusing it, but I can assure you he wouldn't bring a bounty program with him to Charlotte. Personally I still prefer Shane Steichen, but I'd much rather have Sean Payton than Frank Reich or Steve Wilks, even if it means giving up a couple of draft picks.
  10. I don't get the Tepper hate in this particular instance. Sure he's made plenty of blunders over the last 5 years, but he seems to be doing his best to get this hire right. I know a lot of you aren't on board with hiring Sean Payton for various reasons but looking at it from Tepper's POV he's the most qualified coach available with the best resume. I get not wanting to give up draft picks for him but it's not like Tepper is considering some nobody here. I mean it could be a LOT worse; he could be considering Jeff Saturday or Josh McCown.
  11. You can be assured that Sean Payton won't take ANY job without having a plan in mind for QB.
  12. It's important to note that Payton is very close with the Saints GM. It's entirely possible that they have an understanding between them that if Payton decides he wants to coach somewhere that Loomis won't hold it up - or hamstring Payton - by demanding huge compensation. Honestly, this strikes me as the only explanation as to why they're letting a division rival interview him to begin with. At least with as much interest as there is outside the division.
  13. I think Brady ends up in Vegas for his final year or two. I don't think we're quite at the point that adding Brady would make us true SB contenders and that's the only real reason you make that move.
  14. Seems like there's a good chance, especially with Ben Johnson pulling out.
  15. I've heard this year's 4th + next year's 1st. I'd be content with that, but that's about the max I'd be comfortable with.
  16. I'm not crazy about that either, but if we can come out of this offseason with a quality HC and a franchise QB then I can live with not having a 1st rounder next year.
  17. Better get on board the Payton train, folks.
  18. I think there's a better chance than some may realize that Levis rises and Young falls due to his size. Stroud could be viewed by some teams as the "happy medium" between the two.
  19. I'd hate to give up a high pick just to acquire a head coach. But I wouldn't be against Payton coming here.
  20. I prefer Shane Steichen to Ben Johnson simply for the fact that Steichen's resume is better in terms of QB development. Certainly coaching Jared Goff to the numbers he put up this year is impressive, but in my view helping to develop both Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts is more impressive.
