Receiver Archetype We're targeting...
Panthero replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
According to Carl Jung, Archetypes, in spite of their conservative nature, are not static but in a continuous dramatic flux. Thus the self as a monad or continuous unit would be dead. But it lives inasmuch as it splits and unites again. There is no energy without opposites! Sounds like he's a fan of BPA. -
Did Panthers sign Stephon Gilmore too?
Panthero replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Frankly, the clowney signing is one thing. I think as long as the team doesn't have to go into hock, fine bring in Gilmore but we are not a playoff team so no need to reach on contracts. -
Panthers agree to terms with linebacker Tae Davis

Receiver Archetype We're targeting...

Well we've already got the fool and the hanged man covered, I'd prefer a hero or two. Perhaps an old sage too. -
we need a WR (thielan and DJ are likely gone after 24), C (corbett is a total wild card and will be gone in 25 regardless), DE (may totally implode), CB (our only real threat cant stay healthy to this point), and LB (need a third to rotate in and eventually push shaq out the door) in that order. the first three will play significant minutes the fourth hopefully can play a lot of minutes, hopefully not because of an injury to Horn. LB really will be a depth piece at this point but a position we have to prioritize in the 25 draft, along with a real TE threat and need to hit CB again.
-
Fair, my point was even with that his long term average is not far off of what we paid. So a slight overpay for a position we absolutely had to have. I'm cool with it.
-
Yeah but only looking at last season is misleading. His average salary the previous four years (not last year) is around 9.2 million, so it's not that far off. One of those years it was 12 mil, so removing that it's like 7.5 to 8.

I get sean lee vibes, ILB for the cowboys. 2nd rounder, long career --- but didn't play many complete seasons. Buy when healthy a top 5 lb.

be interesting to see how they make the cap work. here's the way having tepper is a benefit, he'll pay top dollar for non-player personnel. if you arent an ahole that can be a big draw. hopefully that contract wiz we hired is gonna do some things.

Clowney says otherwise playa.
-
i saw that, but as a counter point they have Derrick Brown's market value at 11.7 annual. which is of course lol.
-
Is he more of a 4-3 guy? I know he's not a blitz specialist, but I'm not familiar with KC defensive scheme.
-
yikes, looks worse than the DE options.
-
is there another example? think thats the only guy that doesnt at least play edge/olb in multiple fronts.
-
Agreed, but the only guy (from the above list) who wouldnt be one of those is probably Danna. The rest i doubt they can convince anyone for multiple years. certainly not the older guys. Maybe Clowney can.
-
i searched for all of them, didnt see that on Barnett. thx for sharing. lol. I'd sign billy boucher if i thought he could add 5-6 sacks.
-
yeah, i'm honestly surprised he hasnt been mentioned more. He's not a world beater but he's competent and even though the rub is he's not a run stopper, i thought he looked decent in that category from what little game film i watched (not highlights).

Looks like here is who is still available, there are some others but not worth mentioning. Clowney-- would be solid, may be too expensive. i'm suspicious of his most recent year. like Kyle Van Noy and others (that are not free agents), that Ravens DL all had really good years, so hard to disentangle where the group gets the kudos or the individual player. Calais Campbell-- not really what were looking for, older than Methuselah Carl Lawson--Oft injured, absolute model citizen, if he can recreate 2022 season could be a huge steal. Mike Danna-- 50 tackles and 6.5 sacks last year. Could do worse. Derek Barnett-- Nah, very little production in several years. Kyle Van Noy-- Older dude, but still produces. a 5-6 sack type of guy, but may be about to drop off. did well last year, but was an outlier on a great deep defense. Anfernee Jennings--more of a run stopper, but a very good one. Bud Dupree--Trending down badly, quickly. former hoss. Yannick Ngakoue- Boom or bust guy, seems to be a sack only guy, not responsible for many tackles. Seems to hold up well. missed very few games. last year was pretty weak. verdict: If we cant get Clowney, Mike Danna looks solid. Adding Danna gives you two competent (and young) guys and three guys with upside (barro, chaisson, johnson).

doesnt have to be clowney, but i'd love another DE or two and a solid number two corner. Dane seems like a very good backup, guy that can spell for a game or two.

Tomlin on Diontae as a Panther gives me some anxiety
Panthero replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
somewhere theres a man glad to be rid of the woman you love (not you specifically), let that crop dust your thoughts. Muhahahahahahahahhahahaha -
my only disagreement is we need all of our picks to hit. one of these drafts we need to pull a saints and get 5-6 starters from one draft.
-
exactly. Brown may be 5, he may be 10. either way, hes a badass and i'm glad to have him. still no reason to give out wild overpays. 25 like mentioned above is about it to me. not sure i can make a case why he deserves more than number 6 and 7 on this list. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/defensive-tackle/
