Our defense has got to show up. -
Dan Arnold was not a great run blocker, if he had been he might still be here.

It is much better than being the worst team in the worst division.

Brock Purdy and why we don't need to draft a 1st round QB

Has anyone seen Corral on the sideline or does anyone know how his rehab is going? He seems to have fallen off the radar. -
This Pittsburgh game has me concerned as well, too much looking ahead.
-
I hope we do not look past Pittsburgh. These guys would like nothing better to blow up our plans.
-
It might be Sam or PJ.
-
I would think the offensive coordinator we have next year’s opinion would certainly weigh heavily on what direction we take on a “bridge” quarterback. Minshew might look at what Trubisky signed for with Pittsburgh and want too much. Digging through the possibilities for bridge quarterbacks is a challenge for sure. I would prefer it not be PJ and 2 rookies.

If we draft a quarterback we obviously are going to keep Corral as well until his ceiling can be determined. It will be interesting to see who the “bridge” quarterback will be.

You have to have a run game to be successful. You cannot be one dimensional and win the the NFL. If the Panthers had a top 10 quarterback and established receivers you would see more passing. Wilkes is working with the tools in his toolbox. -

In the NFL you have little room for error each week. Wilkes is playing with the personnel on the roster getting pretty near maximum efficiency. -

We need receivers that are willing to fight for the ball and get separation. Put Locket and Metcalf on the Panthers it would make an average quarterback look good. -
HOT TAKE Jaycee Horn isin't a shutdown corner

Now, if he had said “action Jackson” I might have agreed. I wish we had another one like Jaycee. -
I would not be surprised to see Shaw resign at a team friendly deal and also drafting someone.

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
Stuart Smith replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like Hooker, but he Will be 25 in a month. (Same age as Sam) In addition he is coming offa season ending injury. -
San Francisco lost Garrapolo for the season today. Mr. Irrelevant of the 2022 draft was the only quarterback they had left. Brock Purdue from Iowa State went 25 for 37 with over 200 yards passing. Last player drafted in 2022. Dang, we should be able to find a quarterback in the draft.
-
I would love to see Hendon Hooker do well. The reservation I have about him is that by training camp he will be 25 and coming off an injury. I would love to see him succeed, especially since he is a NC native.
-
He will. Several of them have birthdays before draft. Good point.

Looking at quarterbacks on roster and potential quarterbacks that will probably be in the draft I think it is interesting to look at their age. PJ Walker-27 Baker Mayfield-27 Matt Carral-23 Sam Darnold-25 Bryce Young-21 CJ Stroud-21 Will Levi’s 23 Sam Hartman-23 Hendon Hooker 24 Anthony Richardson 21 i think it is fair to ask where these young men will be in their ability to quarterback an NFL team by age 25. Obviously one of the most important factors will be the coaching staff of the team that drafts them. If most of these players “sit and learn” for a year before getting any significant playing time it adds a year to their age. I have to wonder how many of these players have the potential to be better than Sam Darnold is right now at age 25. I am Not advocating for Sam Darnold, just saying there is a lot to think about before draft day.

One place I hope the Panthers really reinforce is the offensive and defensive lines. The ability to run the ball successfully is demoralizing to the opponent. We need depth.

I do not see any names that make me feel more comfortable than Wilkes. The players respond to him.
