  1. Players currently under contract through ‘22 season: QB- Darnold (yuck) RB- CMC, Hubbard FB- obsolete? WR- DJ Moore, Anderson, Marshall, Smith, D. Moore TE- Tremble OT- Moton, Erving, Christensen OG- Daley, Brown, Moore C- Elflein DT- Brown, Roy, Nixon, Hoskins DE- Burns, Fox, YGM MLB- ???? OLB- Shaq, ??? DB- Horn, Henderson, Bouye, Pride, Taylor, Thomas-Oliver S- Chinn, Franklin, Hartsfield Special teams: Fletcher, Charlton Free Agents [potential replacement]: Cam (QB) [?] Reddick (OLB) [?] Paradis (C) [Elflein?] Burris (SS) [Hartsfield] D Jax & Gilmore (CB). [Bouye, Henderson] John Miller (RG). [Christensen/Brown] Ian Thomas (TE). [Tremble] J Carter (LB) [?] The OL is it’s own animal, but in a dream scenario Daley can hold down LT and Elflein is serviceable at C. (Big assumptions, sure). I’ve been of the opinion that interior play has been worse than the tackles. In that case, biggest remaining issues: - Glaring hole at QB1, perhaps that problem magically goes away if Cam plays well and takes a home team discount to extend - CB is loaded, not sure we can afford both D Jax and Reddick. If can only keep one, I’d prefer to keep Reddick. Good news is losing Jax could net a 3rd rounder in a ‘23 comp pick. - how much does it cost to keep Carter and/or upgrade MLB? I’d argue our cap is in pretty good shape. Yes, “only” $35 mil in ‘22, but over $100 mil in ‘23 and beyond. We can do some trickery with extensions of good, young players to make it through next year.
  2. I’d guess a combo of 4 & 5. I’m guessing Cam wasn’t willing to play the last year of his contract coming off injury without a (big) extension. And the new regime (correctly) said no thanks. So it was a classic lose, lose. Hopefully we can flip it to a win/win.
  3. There is essentially zero cap hit past next year for QBs.
  4. Yes, strange decision, but not in the top 5 bad decisions of this regime. Hindsight is 20/20, but I’m not going to worry much about sixth round picks.
  5. The problem with a ‘22 QB is none appear to be that good.
  6. Hilarious deals for the OL? I presume you're talking about the $8mil over 2 years in guarantees for Erving and the $6mil in guarantees for Elflein over 3 years? You don't get GOOD OL for less than $15mil per year. We got two mediocre vets for an ave of $6mil per year. Objectively we can talk about the merits of Horn over Slater. I was shocked at the time for sure.
  7. That's a bit of a reach. Many fans were concerned that Cam wanted a big extension coming off multiple years of injuries. In the meantime, he got near the league minimum last year and this year he's sitting on his couch.
  8. I agree. But then again, he was probably always a jerk. I doubt he has changed his stripes…
  9. Paradis is the worst. Erving is playing an incredibly tough position, and if he had a decent LG next to him, I think he would be decent to good (which ain’t bad).
  10. Let’s not forget, part of the calculus is you get Sam plus Horn. If you go Fields, you don’t get both. Understanding you don’t get full rookie contract, and lose a 2nd in ‘22, but
  11. Is Nixon supposed to pull his hands down to his side and land on his face?
  12. Clearly it is the number change, ha! (Stud D-line and much improved secondary likely helps, not to mention the absence of Whitehead helps too).
  13. 3-1 and 3-1 worst case a reasonable expectation? I think most would’ve been happy with 6-2 at that point, right?
  14. True, but if you had to pick a quarter to win, the 3rd would likely be 3rd or 4th most important, right? 1st and 4th definitely higher. 2nd vs 3rd is debatable.
  15. Santosa isn’t noticeably better than any other off the street kicker, so might as well save the 7th round pick. We are in year two of a rebuild, need all the assets we can get.
  16. 2019 season. Game is on the line… Against Tampa, down 6, 4&1 at TB 2, direct snap to CMC, no gain Green Bay, down 8, 2nd at goal at the 2, CMC stuffed short of the goal as time expires. Washington, down 8, 1st and goal at the 1, CMC, loss of a yard. 2nd and goal, CMC, loss of a yard. 3rd down incomplete, 4th down Allen fumble. CMC is the man, but short and goal is not for him. I think we miss a big target like Olsen.
  17. General consensus was Moton extension was perfect. The concerns over CMC extension was 1) the timing (still had a year of rookie deal, plus at least one franchise tag) at cheaper price. And 2) $16mil is a little expensive for a RB given higher chance of injuries (which happened for most of last year).
  18. If you can’t trust K for a 50 yarder, and he can’t make an XP, you gotta cut him to save that draft pick, right?
