Do you resign Dalton for one more season?
PleaseCutStewart replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jeudy - maybe since Johnson is gone. Tillman... 3rd behind Leggette and Coker (4th if Thielen were healthy) -
With the first pick, don't draft a QB? Draft a DE? C'mon!

Cool, let's draft our future QB Nyce Broung with the number one overall pick. I heard he's good at playing video games. -

Tillman was literally the worst rated receiver for PFF prior to last week - he isn't good. Jeudy is solid, but honestly is a similar caliber WR as Johnson. -

We'll see. I thought he looked good for New Orleans that half of season he played before injury. And while he did get lucky to not throw some ints, he threw some absolute dimes deep down field that Bryce/Dalton could only dream of. I really don't understand why he hasn't been a starter for a team in the past couple of years. I think 1/4 of the NFL teams would be better with him at QB than who they currently have. I could think of worse though to hold us over for a few years while we find our new QB to draft -

It was his first game in a long time and he was throwing to a bunch of no name bums at wide receiver. And that's what you get with Jameis - the good with the bad. Which is still much better than anything we currently have at quarterback -

Still think Winston is the best option. Although.. if he plays well the rest of the year, that might price us out for getting him -
Draft Status Update: Week 9 Edition
PleaseCutStewart replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
The Jets did us a huge favor losing to the patriots. We have to be careful this week though - saints have been awful the last month and we don't need to go and accidentally win this game. If we can survive and lose this weekend next week against the Giants, I don't think we have to worry about winning any more games this year -
Pretty sure they had Levis ahead of CJ also

We have seen guys like Cam, Lamar, Russell, Manziel, RG3, Mariota, Watson, Allen, Murray, Lance, Fields, etc. that would probably fall in the category of strong armed athletic freaks that all went in the 1st round. NFL teams want that QB that has the freakish talent and hope they can fix issues they have (footwork, reading the field, etc.)
-
And he will be gone after that. With having back-to-back injury riddled seasons, I think we could have given him something like 5 years (2024 - 2029), 55ish million. Now it will probably be something like 5 years, 100 million if he stays healthy the rest of this year and next year. And probably like 5 years, 80ish million for other franchises because I'm sure he wants off this team ASAP

They should just send this franchise to North Korea to live out the rest of their existence... I can see the headlines now - Panthers lose on last second FG to the North Korea Anti-Freedomers (accepting clever names). After the game, the team was locked in a dungeon and never heard from again
-
Agreed. I said we should have given Horn a long-term contract before this year in hopes he could stay healthy and it could be a pretty cheap long-term deal. Now I think he gets paid pretty well and probably no point in resigning him for that price with how awful we are. And might as well trade Chuba - by the time we "might" be good again, he will be in his 30s
-
He is at least worth the gamble in the 1st round - elite level athleticism and elite level arm strength. Unfortunately his decision making is terrible and he can't stay healthy. Meanwhile, we drafted a midget with a noodle arm that would get outrun by half of the offensive linemen in the NFL. But don't worry, he aced the video game part of the draft process and that was all Tepper needed to see to draft him #1
-
With how big brained our front office looked with the Johnson trade, I am surprised they didn't trade Horn, Chuba, and a 2025 5th round pick to the Chiefs for a 2030 7th round draft pick
-
It's worse - we traded the 1st pick of the 6th round for a pick in the mid-late 20s of the 5th round... All while paying the salary of the guy we traded away. So... we pretty much traded away a broken washing machine for a slightly lesser broken washing machine while paying the costs to fix the broken washing machine we gave away.

We honestly just need to nuke this entire franchise. Cut all the players, fire all the staff (from coach to coordinators to position coaches to medical staff to anyone else), and just completely start anew. We need to get the shitstains that are our players and coaches off this team. Unfortunately our cuck owner can't fire himself, but the next best thing is just getting rid of literally everyone else, forfeit every game the next few years, and see if we can draft some winners with someone that hasn't been a part of this dumpster fire the past half decade
-
I don't know... A trade that resulted in us getting more than 1 pick that is six spots better than what our 6th rounder would have been...
-
Hard to believe the best offer we could get was a 5th rounder for a 6th rounder and Johnson... At that point, might as well just release him and let him go to whatever team he wants because we literally gained zero value from this trade. And it's trades like this that make it easy to understand why we are and have been the worst team in the NFL for several years

Rookie mistake - never bet a team you root for unless you bet against them (like the panthers)

Pretty sure our 2023 team scores 21 points off Bryce turnovers alone -
Bryce Young... The 1st QB ever to have an 80% completion percentage and a passing yards per game of 80... He should look at getting his first name changed to checkdown

I feel like there are a lot of undrafted running backs and wide receivers that do well in the nfl. Wes welker, rod smith, priest holmes, and Antonio Gates come to mind of skill position players that didn't get drafted. Kurt Warner and Tony Romo didn't either. Like someone else said, there are a ton of colleges and it's hard to scout all of them. If you play at a lesser named D1 college or play for a D2 or D3 college, good chance you wont have many people know of you
