CMC trending the wrong direction? Not practicing today...
onmyown replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
CMCs money is not an issue, it’s using him correctly, having a competent compliment, and building an oline that makes it not worth it. If those were not in the plans he never should’ve been resigned. If he was going to run up the middle behind traffic cones instead of in the slot or around the edges it was wasted money. All you have to do is look at the flaccid offense without him to see he’s worth it. The first thing this team should’ve done after singing him is start slowly developing cmc and game plans with him more as a receiving threat. He is a generational talent, this is not even close to being beyond him or his ability. The second thing is get someone competent to help carry the load and take hits aka Tolbert. Hasn’t been done, or used, for four years now despite BS coach speak. If you had no complement, or at least one wouldn’t be used, so you wear cmc down with an absurd amount of carries, again a waste of money. As an offense I’d rather roll with Moore and CMC than Moore and Anderson. What’s the difference? All money towards the cap. So I do agree using him as a traditional back and excuse to be fuging lazy calling plays and not using him creatively was a complete waste. -
Former 2x Super Bowl winning player personnel guy on Panthers OL
onmyown replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Was one of the very few teams in history (like 4) with a below average ranked oline to make it to the super bowl. However two things should be noted, first, that was during the season, post season they really stepped up and somehow miraculously became a formable line. Also E Manning went super sayan on the NFL, and enjoyably the undefeated Patriots. -
Balls, I missed the thread. Too much work. Obviously going to have to quit.

Fact: multiple guards taken in the 5 round and below the past two years are preforming above average in the NFL right now. Due diligence and competence. This is a failure many huddler knew long beforehand, so either 1. Huddlers are smarter (doubtful) or 2. Rhule blatantly ignored the position most likely due to a lack of diligence and fixation on the defense I’ll give him more time but if he trots our trash next year, after 3 drafts of failure addressing the only thing besides a top defense super bowl contenders have in common, I will consider him unable to fix it and if Tepper wants to keep him he needs to hire help. Also worth noting is Sam doesn’t work out, you’re not attracting any worthwhile QB to play here, and rightfully so. Cam TB and possibly Sam will be injured by the incompetence. I don’t blame Stafford.

This is pretty normal and on que per our annual implosion and losing streak. Carry on.

But what about the draft? Onwenu has been looking really good in NE (granted not full time snaps) and he was had for a 6th rounder in 2020. Or start Brown in rotation? Onwenu has the same build as Brown and also a 6th rounder. We took Robinson instead and some CB later. Telling me we couldn’t have made that work? Just one example. It’s really not about what’s available because help can be found, it’s about due diligence and competence. I feel they were just dead set on defense.

You can’t get worse than Miller…and it’s slightly less hard to be worse than Daley. Absolutely no reason to get this guy some reps.

Picture of Panthers offensive line in action!

Be real. If the Panthers lose the next 12 games in a row some will still be called miserable, negative doom and gloomers who can’t see the positives.

I think best case scenario at this point is 9-8, that is best case. 8-9 or 7-10 is more likely. But this is to be expected and I still consider this team on track and trending up. I think going 3-0 really distorted expectations by some people not realizing those wins were garbage teams and they’re still rebuilding. If we can’t win at least 7 though, that is concerning. I don’t really care about playoffs or not because this team doesn’t belong there.

wasn’t he the guy who said when he was with the Panthers he didn’t give 2 fugs and was being lazy
-
i just want to know how Brown could be worse…hell just being as fat as he is makes him an automatic 25 grade

it’s weird to me the cam stans still here pretending to be Panther fans that bitched about cam’s oline for a decade can somehow twist years of bitching cam had no oline into Sam needs to do better with an oline worse than cam ever had in 9 years, worse than all 9 years averaged, and the worst in franchise history very…interesting…and telling yall aren’t fooling anyone
-
It’s amazing the tackle situation the fans have screamed for all year is better than what they were doing isn’t it? That’s pretty embarrassing. We really are inching closer and closer to Fox and rivera days.
-
Honestly I think this is the first team I’ve seen start a rebuild with WRs and CBs while throwing a ‘maybe’ QB in there to get mauled. It’s a weird route to go seeing as the oline will take longer and is harder to build than anything else…you’d think they’d at least start there with one player. I guess a 3rd round pick in 2 years is kind of a start for 5 positions.
-
Believe it or not, statistically this year is worse by about 3 spots (that 2014 oline was ranked 22 this one 25). Of course that was before this latest game… You’re looking at competition for the worst in the NFL…and worst in Panthers Franchise history.

I said the exact same thing last week. Brady is lazy/complacent and it’s a result of CMC. Anyone watching the games can see the same repetitive routes/lining up.
-
It was a 5th year option. Had they not taken it and wanted to resign him they’d be on the hook for a multi year contract. So, they actually side stepped being stuck with Darnold. And being sure about him with two years of play before resigning instead of one. They did choose the safer option. No problem with it. The only less harmful option requires hindsight, in that Darnold isn’t extended, then fails, then walks. But at that point why would you trade a second for a guy you don’t believe in enough for two years? They chose the best option.

Same old Panthers. Huge losing streak here we come.

That will also be something that hasn’t changed. -
Watching Rashawn Slater be great makes me sad and angry.

Tep has the money, hire HELP. Top oline scouts, whatever. It’s clear those in the building are incompetent, bringing in trash and calling it a day.
