Person: Rhule could be next, but probably not this year
NanuqoftheNorth replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
A third season of Rhule would be nothing more than a wasted opportunity. Matt was given the keys to the kingdom and we've seen the horrible results. He's out of his depth. -

Rhule can stay till the end of the season or box up his stuff today. Doesn't matter, this team's season is essentially over either way. -

First and foremost: Tepper needs to hire an outside consultant with extensive NFL experience to guide him moving forward ASAP. I've seen nothing to indicate that Fitterer should be entrusted with leading the Panthers search for a new HC. -

All other bad decisions aside, this is the main reason Tepper shouldn't give Rhule a third bite of the apple. -
An excellent question. Would love to know the timeline on how this move went down.

Who knew running an NFL team would be so complicated and shouldn't be left to amateurs?

Draft order if the season ended today (pretty weird)

Tepper needs to put a lock on the Panthers cookie jar ASAP and kick Rhule and company to the curb at the end of the season. -
If Dave Tepper isn't ready to can Rhule at the end of this season, I'd feel better knowing that someone like Doug Pederson was on staff and waiting in the wings just in case this team continues to head south in year three. Firing a Head Coach mid season a lot easier when there's already a viable candidate on staff to replace them. Right now there is no one that could step into Rhule's shoes.

You may have hit upon something. I always wondered why so many Panthers fans thought Siefert was a former OC.

Seifert was a defensive player and defensive coordinator prior to becoming a Head Coach for the 49ers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Seifert

Would you be upset if Rhule left this week to go to LSU?

Is this a serious question? Would you be upset if Rhule left this week to go to LSU? -
2022 (3rd year of the rebuild) and beyond...

Possibly just weeks. Since becoming the Panthers owner Dave has been adding to his fortune at a rate of over a billion dollars per year. Hiring and firing is just the cost of doing business. REAL TIME NET WORTH. $15.8B. as of 11/29/21. David Tepper, arguably the greatest hedge fund manager of his generation, has been steadily returning money... https://www.forbes.com › profile › david-tepper

Matt Rhule 3rd year success (Does history repeat itself?)
NanuqoftheNorth replied to Leotiger's topic in Carolina Panthers
Teddy might have been the best of the bunch, but that's not anything to crow about. I wanna say he had like 8 opportunities to win late in games last season and failed every time. I'd hate to witness Fields or Jones in this offense. It would be like having flashbacks to Carr in Houston's offense or Darnold playing for the Jets. Hate to watch rookie talent not only wasted, but ruined by their terribly coached teams. And make no mistake, the Panthers are a terribly coached team. -

I seriously don't think it would have made much of a difference who was the QB this season. The play calling is questionable at best. The OC seems to be out of his depth and unable to learn from his mistakes. The O line is in shambles most weeks and receivers aren't where they're supposed to be and when they are, they're dropping catchable passes. -
Perhaps Tepper is that tight with his organization's money. Guess we'll find out soon enough. Not much longer until the Panthers season will be coming to an end. At that point Tepper will have a decision to make when it comes to Rhule.

I wonder whose decision it was to get rid of Teddy? Have we decided not to hold people accountable for their decisions?
