Go on record now before the hire is made Re: Sean Payton
TLGPanthersFan replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel like if Wilks is hired he will have a VERY short leash. Since it is obvious that he is the last choice. -
Roman Harper thinks Sean Payton could be our next HC now
TLGPanthersFan replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It has happened before. It could happen again. -
Wow that would be an incredibly anti-climatic hire.
-
Kinda feels like “We are bringing the crew back” after a failed Super Bowl run only for that same crew to go 7-10 and miss the playoffs.
-
You put enough zeroes at the end of a check I’ll stay anywhere…within reason.
-
Yep. Totally agree. Think what you will about his time as HC with the Colts. He was at best a mediocre coach and he loved cast off QBs as much as Rhule did.
-
I like Reich more than Wilks but they both should only be the last choice if all else fails. As you said would be funny if after all this talk of bringing in young OCs as HC we hire a guy who was, as best, mediocre as a HC.
-
Reich worries me. His offensive path with Colts was very similar to Rhule with so many cast off QBs. I mean he wasn't that impressive as a HC. He should still be on the low end, like right above Wilks, when it comes to being hired.
-
Why I love this offseason. Even if I lose, Wilks is hired, it is gonna be wild for the entire offseason.
-
I will do anything for it not to be freaking Wilks. I do not want to watch 17 games of a team run by Rivera Jr.
-
Think Payton want to develop a rookie QB? This would be his first time he had to do something like that. Pretty much the only real question I have about him.
-
Didn’t even get to the interview. Wonder what changed?
-
Constantly pushing the Wilks has an actually chance to be head coach. It is annoying and tiring.
-
These people won’t stop.
-
Agree. Johnson or Steichen are coaches I want because if we bring in a rookie they have proven they can build an offense around said rookie. Heck there is a chance, however slim, that if we don’t get a QB our coach could develop Corral. Again, not saying it will happen. Because I think Corral is what he is, a third round pick with a backup ceiling. But you never know. Payton hasn’t had to develop a QB so we have no idea if he can.

If Wilks had made adjustments in the Bucs game
TLGPanthersFan replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Guys has a franchise QB and he has proven he is great at building his team. Also he has learned. When he first started with the Bills he was Rivera-like conservative, but over time he learned he has to be aggressive in this league and it worked out. -
Never heard that so probably not true.
-
Bucs team has no spirit but Todd Bowles a terrible HC. I have no idea why the Bucs, like the Saints, hired their coach internally. So stupid.
-
Wilks was never getting the job.
-
McVay definitely benefited from having Wade Philips there. So I could see Vic Fangio being a safety net while the offense finds their feet and have any type of HC experience on staff will always benefit the young HC. I am all for it!
-
How can you NOT throw beyond the line to gain instead of 3 yards to a player with a defender draped all over him. That was a freaking Teddy 2 Yards type of play. Cousins is an idiot with no killing instinct.
-
Reffing hasn't been that bad in the playoffs but that was a terrible, terrible call.
-
WOW screw these refs. What a terrible call.
-
One thing I love about modern offenses is that modern OCs are MUCH better at scheming guys open then old fashioned OCs like McAdoo, who expect the WRs to do the extra legwork and get open with no help. If we get Johnson or Steichen I hope to see this type of offense with whoever we have at QB.

What is with McDermott time management? Doing his best Rivera impression.
