REPORT: Panthers changed the offense 3 times last season
Mr Mojo Risin replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is definitely some truth to what you say but Bryce was not the main reason of discord within the offensive coaching staff. Everything was thrown together without a real clue or concrete plan in place including the selection of Young. I think our offense will be better just on the fact that they will be more aligned on what its going to take to be successful on offense with the players we have versus the "throw it at the wall and see if it sticks approach" we had last year. I dont think well be top 10 but at least watchable and in more games than we were last year forsure. -
REPORT: Panthers changed the offense 3 times last season
Mr Mojo Risin replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lmao. What about the fact that NONE of the coaches on offense had any connection between them when they were hired? Despite being an all star staff none of them ever really coached with one another and they all came from different football backgrounds. Could it be they just couldn't all get on the same page as to how to develop a rookie QB? Or what type of offensive philosophy/plays to run? Let's not continue to act like Bryce was in a good situation last year and he let the team down. The only way we were going to be successful on offense last season was if Bryce came in and played like a one man wrecking crew and that was not the type of player he was touted to be coming out of college. Those that think Stroud would have come onto this team with the lack of weapons and a depleted struggling oline with too many "cooks" in the kitchen and had the year he had last year with the Texans are kidding yourselves. -
What is the benefit to benching starters for the preseason?
Mr Mojo Risin replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean you kind of answered yourself. Panthers starters played last preseason and how much difference did it make? Still the worst team in football. Maybe preseason doesn't matter. If you're going to be terrible you're going to be terrible nothing about running vanilla schemes and half ass game plans in the preseason for 20 total plays is going to make any sort of difference -
Prayers up for Mr. Scot hoping everything works out in his favor
-
He was frustrated he fell and didn't get more yardage. Wasn't a celebration.
-
I feel like some of that is just poor communication from the oline overall. Not saying I haven't seen him whiff his share of pass pro but the times he has a guy lined up over him and he chooses to go after someone else tells me the oline isn't communicating the protections properly. They were also very poor at handling stunts

Ian Rapoport on Bryce: "Everyone had Bryce Young #1"
Mr Mojo Risin replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
He beat him in a head to head matchup. I think that would count as something he does better -
I've just never seen an oline look so confused before. They legit ll block the wrong people it's not even about poor technique or them getting overwhelmed from a physical standpoint. They legit just don't know who to block and let people lined up in front of them run right to the QB without even a hand on them I've never seen this happen so many times to an NFL offense it's ridiculous
-
Honestly whoever can call out the protections and stop all these free runs to the QB. The amount of times it happened last year and the amount it's already happening in TC they have to know that it's a problem and something has to change, or whatever their plan is needs to start working ASAP or I doubt Bryce survives the season whether we want him to or not.
-
Looks like it's a bit late but if you watch when he throws it he does throw it as he hits his break but seems to Aim it towards the pylon maybe that was the drill? Hard telling.
-
Whoever is calling out the.protections is fuging up that's why. Whether it's Corbett or Bryce. That's a 5 man rush everyone should have a man and that's not at all what happens. Corbett tries to DT with the RG when he should be responsible for Josey blitzing. The LG should have the guy Ickey blocks and Ickey should have the guy on the end of the LoS. Same issues as last season so maybe it is Bryce. If I got sacked 62 times last year that would be the #1 thing I'd want to work on and master is the protection. The free runners to the QB has to stop I've never seen that happen to an NFL offense so many times before

@mrcompletely11Listen to what you're saying. The preseason matters but not for predicting what a teams win/loss record will be and whether they will be a good team or not. It's for evaluating depth and getting certain looks at your team but for the most part it is extremely vanilla. You want to judge a 17 game season on 6 or 7 offensive series during 3 preseason games. Potato. That doesn't make any sense. Is it a 200 IQ prediction to predict that the 32/32 offense from last season might also suck this year? Yea it is quite possible but you aren't going to get that information from less than 4 quarters of play during 3 preseason games in which the game plans will be mostly vanilla.
-
Unfortunately he's probably sacked by Josey if that were live. Oline still giving up a ton of pressure up tje middle. That will 100% kill this offense if it's a consistent issue like last year
-
No one and I mean no one predicted we would be the worst team in the NFL. I didn't say people thought we'd be good after the preseason but absolutely no one thought we essentially traded away the #1 pick to Chicago until the first part of the season was over. And no you can't. Drawing conclusions from preseason games is moronic at best. You can argue that teams hiding things and not opening up the playbook/offense during the preseason is bad, that I will give you, but it still doesn't stop most teams from doing it and resting starters. Its even more apparent now with the 3 preseason games, there isnt a "dress rehersal" like there was in the past. Now teams just do w.e they want including not playing starters for more than a quarter in the first 2 games then sitting them all for the 3rd game. Also most teams in the NFL don't hit their stride until the first quarter of the season is over its always been like that. Some start slow and pick up momentum as the season goes on some start fast and fizzle out that's how it's always been and that's why the preseason is strictly for rounding out the bottom part of your roster and isn't a true litmus test as to how you'll perform the rest of the season.
-
I mean what did I say that was incorrect? Even last year no one knew they were watching a 2-15 team during the offseason. Even though there were question marks and some worry over the preseason performances no one could have predicted we'd actually be the worst team in football. My point again is this, you cannot draw conclusions from training camp and preseason games there can be indicators certainly but nothing is set in stone until the real bullets actually start to fly
-
As much as we want to draw conclusions and as much as the anti Bryce crowd wants to point at every reason why he won't succeed, this was always going to be a wait and see approach until the regular season. You have never been able to see the final product in TC and even preseason games
-
IF an old and slow Thielen can get 1k yards with a rookie Young at QB Smitty would have no issues at all getting his numbers. The comparisons to Clausen are pretty asinine even if you don't like Young. Young hasn't lit the world on fire but from someone who watched every single game of Jimmy (I live 40 mins from SB Indiana where his alma matter Notre Dame is located everyone of my friends was/is a ND fan so I was really hoping we hit the jackpot) he was on a completely different level of bad compared to where Young is/was currently.
-
Yea XL excels at the 50/50 balls he still has to learn how to be a complete receiver and hopefully he will with time. Youngs deep ball is the biggest question mark on our offense so far. Something I had hoped would have been worked on in the offseason but it still hasn't shown up and I'm not sure that it will. He can seemingly hit the corner/flag/deep out with consistency and a fair bit of distance but I don't think I've seen him complete a "go" ball or a fade like the 2 Dalton completed today in the red zone since he's been here and that is my.most concerning thing about Young. We don't have to rely on that aspect of his game to be a good offense but it HAS to at least be some sort of threat to the defense and so far it's still been non existent. Very concerning.

Damn I was really hoping after the pause he'd start laying it down. Then it just ended lmao how awkward
-
I bet he chooses Bryce

Maybe you didn't notice how often the Giants owner was popping in? He expects to be in the loop and has a pulse on everything they're doing. He wasn't necessarily dictating anything but the Giants GM definitely reported any moves they were making or weren't making to his boss. Anyone who expected the Teppers to fug off and never be seen or heard from again doesn't understand professional sports

Tepper's revolving door continues
Mr Mojo Risin replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yikes. A lot of terrible takes and ASSumptions in this thread by the usual gang. You guys truly won't be happy until youve.completely worn this board out of your god awful takes. It's a wonder 20 people still log on here and conversate with you but each month I notice that number get smaller and smaller. Keep up the good work brainiacs I can't wait for the next hot take that pops up into your collective potatoheads.
