  1. I'm a little surprised the Bucs don't want to interview him honestly. Seems like it's Washington or back to KC. It's been reported that the expected OC in Arizona under Gannon will be Browns QB coach Drew Petzing
  2. Not gonna lie, feels like a weird thread when the Eagles O put up 35 points, 25 first downs, and 400+ yards with the only turnover being their QB just flat out dropping the ball. The Eagles D cost them that game.
  3. There's definitely the job security part to consider. Another sub par year and without Arians and Brady, the Bucs could decide to move on from Bowles.
  4. Having full autonomy over playcalling under a defensive HC would be one reason
  5. Bienemy will likely end up staying in KC or going to DC. His only shot to have full playcalling duties is under a defensive HC. Fair or not, no one in the league is going to give him credit if he's an OC under an offensive-oriented HC.
  6. My sense is the reason Staley's title is TBD is because if we don't land Johnson, Reich will retain playcalling duties and Staley will be the OC in name. I read somewhere else that Campen has experience as a run game coordinator so he could take on both OL and run game duties. Thomas Brown would be a nice fallback option too, but if the Bucs want him they can offer playcalling since Bowles wouldn't be involved there.
  7. If Steichen heads to Indy and brings along Johnson or Patullo or if they backfill the Eagles OC gig, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Staley get the OC title. If Reich plans on calling plays anyway, might as well give Staley a promotion in title.
  8. I feel like Joe's gotten a bit lazy lately...very surface level thoughts/analysis.
  9. Mike Silver reported he's expected to retain most, if not all, of the 49ers defensive staff. Wonder where that leaves Holcomb. I think Holcomb is a great 4-3 LB coach, but that's probably his ceiling in the NFL.
  10. Pretty sure you're thinking of Matt MilleN, who is a different person than Matt MilleR lol. Matt Miller joined ESPN last year from Bleacher Report: https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2022/02/matt-miller-returns-to-espn-as-nfl-draft-analyst-adding-more-robust-coverage-to-espn-premium-editorial-content/
  11. Matt Miller's latest ESPN mock posted today has him falling to Carolina at 9 One can only hope...
  12. This is why I think Arizona is a much better potential trade partner than Chicago. Chicago likely trades down with either Houston or Indy (division rivals so can see Houston trading up to #1 to ensure they get the guy they want). Chicago settles in at 2 or 4. Panthers can see who goes top 2 and if the guy they really want (I feel like that's Stroud) is there at 3, then they make their move. Teams typically get ~200 points above value when trading down, so #9, #93 and the 24 1st (slotting it as a mid-first round pick) would be a fair deal IMO. Maybe throw in a pick swap as well (i.e. Panthers 2024 2nd for Cardinals 2024 3rd).
  13. I don't know what Dennis Allen is doing? Their pass defense was by far the best part of that team and they've essentially gutted that staff to bring in a guy the Browns fired because their defense was trash?
  14. One of the big positives that led Evero to taking this job was apparently the ability to build his own staff on the defensive side of the ball. I wouldn't be surprised to see some folks from Denver join him. Also given Capers was a senior defensive assistant on Denver's staff last season and his ties to the franchise, wouldn't be surprised to see him come back here in that same role.
  15. Not to rag on Joe, but I learned way more from Breer's report than I did Joe's. Joe's was essentially a summary of the process that didn't really have any true insight/nuggets? All of the things in that article were already reported by others. It was basically an aggregation of previous reports with some on the record quotes interspersed. Breer's had real insight into the process, like how the initial list of candidates after Rhule was fired were Caldwell, Johnson, Kafka, Steichen, and Wilks. Very interesting that Kafka and Johnson were already on Tepper's radar that early and that some sort of TV report is what made the Panthers put more work into looking into Reich. It was also interesting to read that having interviewed Caldwell, Wilks, and Reich first, the young OCs appeared to be really green and made Tepper doubt his initial inclination to go with a hot shot young coordinator. That Tepper held a vote and abstained to see if his inkling on Reich was where everyone else was leaning. Great tidbits.
  16. This is incorrect. Snow played mostly 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 fronts which are both more closely aligned with the 3-4 than the 4-3. Once Wilks and Holcomb took over, they reverted to a traditional 4-3 and lo and behold, the defense fell off after that.
  17. You can find serviceable space eater NTs for a 3-4 in FA and the draft fairly easily. Brown I think will do much better as a 3-4 DE than a 4-3 DT. Burns, Barno, Haynes are tailor made as 3-4 OLBs. As others mentioned, re-signing Anderson as a 3-4 DE makes sense as well. I think the personnel is much more suited to 3-4 than 4-3 on the whole. Need to rebuild DL depth and find a ballhawk FS, but besides that, think we're pretty decently set-up for the shift.
  18. I’m sure Reich is happy to have Evero on staff. Case in point:
  19. Definitely think Reich's OC is on the Eagles staff, whether it's Johnson, Patullo, or Michael.
  20. He was released from his contract anyway so don't think they'd be eligible for comp picks
