It’s not necessary to fix the QB situation this year, we’re too resource strapped for that. It’s not going to be a great year, that much is known.

This is the make or break year for Young. I don’t want to spend valuable limited draft resources on a guy that isn’t thought highly enough to be taken at the top of the first. Like I said before, if Morgan and Canales have some sort of insider info that guarantees a guy that will be available to us will be a legit franchise guy then sure. Otherwise, build the team and be ready to spend a high first (moving up if necessary) on a franchise QB next year.

No, I haven’t seen what Tepper is actually like in his relationships with his employees, just like everyone else on this board. So I don’t know his track record. I don’t buy into speculative narratives that get popular through repetition. I know his track record for hiring the right people isn’t good, but I’m still going to be cautiously optimistic about these hires. I know he has one case of losing his cool in a dispute with someone near him in Jacksonville, that wasn’t a great look throwing a drink on someone. Pretty much everything else people whine about is conjecture.

Cautiously optimistic. Closer to love it than indifferent though.

It’s really more mental problems than physical ones. He has a weakish arm but plenty of QBs have thrived with similar arms. And of course QBs with similar difficulties seeing over the line have thrived (and in one case been a top ten-ish all time QB). With Young it’s about decision making and processing speed (but but but the S2!!! Is garbage.) After those two deficiencies his next biggest problem is accuracy. I’ve never seen a more inaccurate passer, whether under pressure or throwing from a clean pocket to a wide open receiver. After that would be arm strength.

Like many other narratives, that was just a speculation that kept getting repeated until simple minds just accepted it as true. For all we know Tepper wanted Stroud, Reich wanted Young and Tepper let him take who he wanted. When the decision proved to be comically bad, that’s why Tepper fired him in the middle of his first season, because it was such an easily avoided mistake. That’s also basic speculation but makes more sense with all factors included. No one knows or will know who was team Stroud and who the dummies were except the three people involved in the decision and there’s no way any of them will give a straight truthful answer about it either.

That’s in retrospect. If we had a QB that could get them the ball and coach/OC that were competent it’d be a different story.

I give out a lot more pie than I do poo. Just when I see especially ignorant or egregious posts they get the poo. No one here saw Morgan say behind closed doors our roster was fine or pick Bryce over Stroud.

No. If someone is offered a GM job (or HC job) 99% of the time they accept. No matter how bad the roster is. There have been far worse than ours.

Chark, Thielen and Hurst were all good signings. Sanders too, arguably. They just didn’t work out because we had no one throwing them the ball and defenders could cheat against the run game because there weren’t going to be any catchable passes over 10 yards.

No idea. If they haven’t held the OC position before I have no clue how they’ll do. Thomas Brown seemed like a pretty good bet that didn’t work out so great.

For all we know he was telling Fitterer to go a different direction. The narrative is that Reich wanted Stroud and Mr Meddlesome said no take Young. Maybe Morgan was also team Bryce. For all we know Morgan wanted to shore up the line more but Fitterer either ignored him or didn’t have the means to make it happen. We have no idea what Morgan thinks or how he plans to turn the team around.

How tf do we know this?
