  1. This argument is a moot point because the Panthers are going defense in the 1st.
  2. That's not an nfl issue it's an owner issue. The owners put pressure on the coaches to play them before they are ready. Very few if any have a vet to sit behind for at least a year to learn and adjust to the game. The Panthers would benefit from having a serviceable veteran that would allow them to sit their next rookie. Had they done that last season maybe things would look different.
  3. Cheap 1 yr contracts sure. They have to field a complete roster of course. What I'm saying is they should not be handing out any contracts over 2 years to anyone until they draft their core players. So far i would argue they do not have na single one. Until that happens I do not have any faith that this team will ever be more than the worst team in the league.
  4. If I thought like Tepper and felt the team is only a couple of players away from competing then that is probably what I would do. But this team is nowhere near being able to compete with anyone right now. They would be getting curb stomped even if they didn't have a single injury. This team will not break .500 for another 3 years. That's if Tepper doesn't fire everyone again and they magically hit on most of their draft picks. You cannot convince me otherwise.
  5. Now you're getting it. This team does not need to hand out anymore big FA contracts. They will have to draft their core and weapons, none of which they have yet. They have 2 rookie receivers that may or may not pan out and 1 that has been a disappointment. They do not have a qb1 or 2. The LT is still debatable and the defense, where to start. If you think they are fixing that in 1 offseason I pitty you.
  6. He can get open a catch the ball. That's all that matters. I'm sure they are not done with receiver room by any means. It looks as if they may have 2 potential contributors now and that's a good start. Be happy they even have that right now.
  7. You think they are doing this on purpose? This team is 3 day old swamp ass. They couldn't win a game if the opponent spotted them 2 touchdowns.
  8. To be fair most of the receivers coming out have a limited route tree. Some catch on faster than others but most just become solid contributors at best.
  9. They can always draft another receiver and will keep adding to the group. There is no prototype for a #1 if that's what you are looking for.
  10. I think they draft one in the next draft. I think who will make the selection is currently in doubt. I still say it will be Tepper and possibly a new GM and Coach.
  11. They will trade him unless he has a miraculous turn around before the season is over. I put the odds of that at 1% as it stands right now.
  12. There's no upside to any of the street FA'S. If there were they would already be employed. They are just younger without the nfl pedigree. I would not consider any of them as a reliable bridge to the future. Anyone they sign will not change the fortunes of this team. They are going to have to draft their way out of this.
  13. I think Young is done here. They may play him the rest of the way but even that will depend on if Andy even wants to start again. I get the impression he would rather sit this season out if the choice was his to make. But Young will be shipped as soon as they have a better replacement.
  14. I'm not seeing one yet. Or should I say I have not seen a clear cut stand out to say yeah that guy is the best of the class. It looks like a few late 1st guys and a bunch of 2nd rounders then a mixed bag after that.
  15. I would feel better if the Panthers ended up in the 2nd or 3rd slot myself. But Tepper is going to Tepper this thing so it doesn't really matter what I think. I'm just an observer.
  16. I'm telling you that any qb taken 1st overall will be over drafted. So far this entire class is underwhelming.
  17. I thought the goal was not to continue this mess. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Right?
  18. I'm not sold on him either. On top of that his dad is toxic and I do not want him anywhere near Tepper. If you think it's a circus now you haven't seen anything until you have Dion in Teppers ear influencing his decisions.
  19. Other than being only a backup that has only 1 game in him a season? No, he seems to be a pretty good dude.
  20. If he did maybe that was why he didn't get the job.
  21. He will not have all that time to stand in the pocket and find wide open receivers in the nfl. I need to see him under pressure before I'm a believer that he has what it takes in the nfl. I still say there's not a qb in this draft worth the first overall pick.
  22. Maybe I misunderstood your post as thinking Wilks would have chosen a different qb. My point was that Wilks would have not gotten who he really wanted either. That's my point. Maybe I shouldn't have had that last White Russian.
  23. No, I'm saying you're wrong. Bryce was going to be the pick as soon as they traded for the 1st pick. It was decided before the combine. It took a while for Frank to accept his fate so he decided to go along. Wilks would have suffered the same fate.
  24. If someone calls with a ridiculous offer I would listen but otherwise I'm not looking to trade down. Take the best available and call it a night.
