  1. If Deshaun holds an interview and it comes from his mouth, then I believe it Otherwise, it’s a rumor or heresay or news in a slow news period or potentially a team striving for a bidding war.
  2. https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/2021-NFL-Draft-Pro-Day-schedule-dates-160125589/Amp/ FYI on trey lance March 12 these are sometimes shown on NFL NETWORK OR ESPNU Link above has all pro days
  3. Best synopsis ever in the quote above I love Cam and always will best of times and worst of times was his time at QB. Never felt such a tangle of emotions I wish he would retire for his own good but that is hard for alpha males to do in sports I wish him the absolute best and as I said at the time and still mean it, there is a way to treat people and a way not to ...too often in the Panthers org it’s been the latter
  4. Panthers give a lot to move up for fields machines to the Saints. I subscribe to the Athletic https://theathletic.com/2378777/?source=fbpcadsbc&ad_id=23846835016490092&fbclid=IwAR0jTC5jJT7SbfKEHgsn_hzI0zrQv-y8NIgu9Ujg7Eyyyv75F9mRjalrqNg_aem_ARlOfheB9poAq2ZjEqKiqMICV3YzjTU4QlWe0Wa2WwAQq6EtGyIxYbD9O3Ps9sOzxcmw7K793OXYohIfzrkjnInjxZ1bD3iyucAnL28Natok_OVDPpa_ziO9dxmy4dmVU28 2021 NFL mock draft: Panthers, Washington, 49ers trade for QBs in Dane Brugler’s latest Dane Brugler Feb 11, 2021 269 At this point in the draft season, a mock draft is all about examining various scenarios, and it can be tough to do a realistic projection of the first round without including a few trades. In last year’s first-round, 11 picks were made by teams that didn’t originally own that selection. Trades are difficult to predict, but here are six plausible moves that could shake up Round 1. (Note: The Rams, Seahawks and Texans are not picking in the first round.) 1. Jacksonville Jaguars — Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson No need to project a trade here — the Jaguars aren’t expected to shop this pick. Lawrence will undergo surgery in a few weeks to repair his non-throwing shoulder, but that won’t have any effect on his draft projection. 2. New York Jets — Zach Wilson, QB, BYU This is where the draft starts and there will be plenty of speculation on a possible trade at No. 2 if the Jets decide to stick with Sam Darnold. However, there is a greater chance New York sees an opportunity to reset the franchise with a new quarterback, but which one? If Wilson does well during the interview process, many around the league expect him to be the favorite here. | Beat writer analysis: Connor Hughes reacts to the pick 3. ***TRADE*** Carolina Panthers receive: 2021 first-round pick (No. 3 overall) Miami Dolphins receive: 2021 first-round pick (No. 8 overall) 2021 third-round pick 2021 fifth-round pick 2022 first-round pick Carolina Panthers (via MIA) — Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State The Panthers’ ownership and front office have made it known that they plan to be aggressive this offseason in upgrading the quarterback position. They missed out on Matthew Stafford, and Deshaun Watson remains a long shot, making the draft their best opportunity. Instead of sitting at No. 8 and hoping a quarterback falls to them, they out-bid other teams and go and get their guy in this mock. Fields needs time, but all the talent is there for him to develop into Carolina’s answer at the position. | Beat writer analysis: Joe Person’s reaction to the trade and pick 4. Atlanta Falcons — Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon The Falcons are certainly a wild card with this pick. With a new head coach and general manager, they have a chance to draft a young quarterback to groom behind Matt Ryan. Or they can go the “best available” route and upgrade the current roster while still competing. The Falcons heavily scouted the offensive tackles in last year’s class and will likely do the same this year. Whether they plan to move Jake Matthews inside to guard or have Sewell start inside, Atlanta’s offensive line would be immediately better with this addition. | Beat writer analysis: Tori McElhaney reacts to the pick 5. Cincinnati Bengals — Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida The Bengals need to upgrade the offensive line — that is indisputable. But it might not happen with this pick, especially if Sewell is off the board. Will they grade Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater this high? Maybe, but some teams don’t. The Bengals are expected to be a team willing to trade back, but if stuck here, Pitts would give Joe Burrow and Cincinnati a unique mismatch weapon. | Beat writer analysis: Paul Dehner reacts to the pick 6. Philadelphia Eagles — Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU With the uncertainty of the organization’s quarterback situation, the Eagles are another team that might be in the mix for a top-10 quarterback prospect. But in this scenario, Howie Roseman and the front office decide to build up the roster, adding a three-level threat like Chase, who can be a legitimate No. 1 receiver in any offense. | Beat writer analysis: Bo Wulf on trade options here for the Eagles 7. ***TRADE*** Washington Football Team receives: 2021 first-round pick (No. 7 overall) Detroit Lions receive: 2021 first-round pick (No. 19 overall) 2021 third-round pick (No. 82 overall) 2022 first-round pick Washington Football Team (via DET) — Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State With Alex Smith, Kyle Allen and Taylor Heinicke, Washington has several short-term options at quarterback. But Lance would give the organization a young, high-upside player with the physical talent and football character that translates well to the pro level. With the competition for quarterbacks in this draft, it will likely take multiple draft picks, including a future first, to make this deal happen for Washington. | Beat writer analysis: Ben Standig answers the question, Should WFT go get him? 28. New Orleans Saints — Mac Jones, QB, Alabama When asking around the league for guesses on where Jones will land, the responses were varied and ranged from top-15 to mid-second round. He is a tough player to project in a mock draft, but his fit in New Orleans would be ideal for both sides. The Saints have a win-now roster, and Jones has NFL-ready accuracy and anticipation. | Beat writer analysis: Katherine Terrell reacts to the pick
  5. I don’t see any of this happening if Miami is truly in the hunt, that’s it for the Panthers More draft capital and players to offer I’d take Tua over Teddy in two shakes of a rat’s ass Florida’s tax situation is better than NC’s I honestly can’t see a young man choosing Charlotte over Miami .....and at the end of the day it’s his choice supposedly where he goes If it’s Miami or Charlotte, it’s Miami as much as Tepper may lust for him, I suspect this love is unrequited and that’s probably in the Panthers best interest
  6. It’s not like we can’t add people in free agency and we don’t have rds 2 through 7 left
  7. I get the concern however.... There are seven rds in the nfl draft, six more after we give up the first we would be fine. The best teams find value in rds 2 through seven and that’s way Fitterer was brought here the panthers have historically failed in rds 2 through 7 and that is why there are no back to back winning seasons
  8. I say, go for it by and Large, the Panthers have mostly hit on their number one picks how many lombardis do they have as a result? watson is young, proven and by large has stayed healthy Can’t win in the new nfl without a QB1 of course, he may not wish to come here, who knows
  9. Liked Tre as a person couldn’t tackle. Couldn’t t cover another bad Hurney contract
  10. No offense. ‘Better’ might be 7 and 9 with teddy and that’s his ceiling I think we have all seen enough of the 7 and 9 Show with multiple QBs
  11. Yes. Im Too. Really had to talk myself into renewing psls for four more years but hopeful of a qb change and that Rhule isnt the used car salesman he might be, so took the plunge for four more years
  12. That ‘good’ OC wanted Bridgewater and that’s why Bridgewater is here
  13. This I don’t always agree with Scot but I appreciate his intelligence and love our beloved but befuddling franchise
  14. And yet, here you are ...keeping count
  15. Fields impressed me with that cheap hit he took and made Clemson pay for it it is amazing he didn’t get broken ribs or sternum from it i suspect it affected him against Bama as well if Bridgewater took that hit, he would be out for the season.
  16. There are ways to do things He would have been within his role to see what he had on his bench to make decisions in the future but you start the game that way. again, the long view of the franchise is far more important than a meaningless game in a lost season
  17. Analysts don’t care about Carolina. They care about winning teams or the worst team in the league getting the first pick the only position that really matters in the draft is QB, if a team doesn’t have one, and the Panthers don’t if you know you have a chance at a top 3, you don’t blow it. The Jets blew it. They had Trevor Lawrence. They don’t anymore. The Panthers blew it. Now instead of getting the number 3, they have to mortgage their future to move up . stupid then again, it was the same smart panthers brain trust that brought Teddy here in the first place; therefore, their judgement is suspect from the beginning ...and yes, I understand ‘you play to win the game’ however there is more than one game to consider, it’s 10 years of stable QB position for a franchise. Nonetheless, we can go to bed and sleep at night safe in the knowledge that Rhule cares about our ‘culture’ in one breath and bringing in Haskins in the other .He would do well to learn this isn’t div 1 anymore
  18. Hey, building that ‘culture’ the same architect of the WFT win thought he could continue the ‘culture building’ with Dwayne Haskins
  19. Stating the obvious, there are many considerations with salary cap for at least three years out, two of (this one and 2022) which may decline due to covid restrictions, and next year’s draft position as well 2022 has Howell and yet another Oregon Qb on the horizon my belief is the Panthers will only trade up for the second best Qb, not the third or fourth They know they will never pry Lawrence away from Urban I almost feel sorry for Trevor TBH I believe if they can’t move up for that 2nd qb or they don’t feel that qb is worth it, they will get someone like Darnold who will not hurt salary cap or draft position in future years. No harm, no foul if he sucks, cut him, still on his rookie contract they just do not have the cap space or a ready made team to attract a veteran or the capital for much else. they will take Darnold. They will give up a second for him. They will then trade that 8 pick for more picks I know what Tepper wants. We all do. Unlike MLB, the salary cap changes things
  20. Don’t disagree Marcus has talent and sometimes the system doesn’t suit the player or the coach doesn't suit the player as we saw with Tannehill give me a choice of another year with Teddy or giving Marcus a chance and fill holes In the draft, I’d take Marcus It just seems to me that the Panthers have to gut their team to get one of the upper level veterans and / or trade up in the draft i hope they stay put and are able to get Lance but who knows. Still a long time to end of April what I know is they dont have an oline or a QB1 and it becomes chicken or egg. I wish I had more faith in Rhule who approved Teddy coming here in the first place. Just tired of the Panthers acting like the player they wanted was thrust upon them
  21. Frankly, to be a guard, gotta have a little mean streak not sure Little has one of those. As bad as those two interior guards were this past year, if he had ability, he would have been moved there ...maybe there is something else going on with him. Who knows Just another wasted pick by Hurney
  22. Im not short sighted at all i would prefer they draft a QB unfortunately, that little ‘culture building’ win combined with several other teams with QB needs with a lot more to offer and the Panthers failure to address the oline has changed the dynamic I Would prefer they stay at 8 and if the guy they want is there, take him the Panthers brain trusts have also run their mouths so much that they are going to be viewed as desperate and that only lessens their bargaining ability
  23. you think Remind you that Tannehill was a starter. Then Backup. Then started for the Titans everyone tries to draft or trade for the next Brady or Mahomes. sometimes, that isnt possible and for a team that is basically getting four maybe five new Olinemen, or needs to, mariota mightn't be a bad stop gap
