  1. I was excited to see guys in pads getting some live action. Rhule is doing exactly what he said he was going to do. He is rotating guys everywhere evaluating their fit. The goal today was not to beat the Colts or look better or worse but try different guys at different positions to see how they do. All that reporting was by fans for fans of each team to create excitement. It was a healthy competition to evaluate individual players and develop film to evaluate and teach with. Hopefully wiffing on a pass block assignment onlt requires some technique adjustment rather than serving as a harbinger of portending events.
  2. We are platooning guys in on offense every snap and people here fall apart because we don't look sharp. Of course we don't have any chemistry. We don't even have many guys who even played together last year out there at one time. And do you think our defense is going to.look great when we aren't blitzing and only going man coverage over and over again. Do we really have to have this extreme angst throughout the preseason. I thought folks here would at least have better perspective.
  3. You guys do know that we aren't going to show much today and everything will be vanilla Sunday. To make much of today or this week is was premature. The over reactions are ridiculous
  4. For me it depends how we play. If we play well but the Jets play better then I can accept a loss. If we play poorly then I won't be happy if we win or lose. Sure a win is a win but it won't give me that much hope for the future. On the other hand the measure of a team is how it handles adversity just as much as how they handle success. So even if we lose week 1, if we come back and smack NO I wil be much happier.
  5. If no one is open and you try to make something happen that is what causes turnovers. Hopefully this year with a better scheme more guys will be open so Sam can play inside the offense and take what the defense is giving him.
  6. Can't deny that film can make a difference for the defense but Darnold is also gaining experience and confidence as he goes and watching film gameplanning against that defense as well. So it very possible that his improvements will compensate for any disadvantage he gets from teams seeing him in our system. Something that Teddy didn't do last year when teams realized he couldn't or wouldn't throw the deep ball. That won't be Darnold's issue for sure.
  7. I don't think you have to wait that long if he plays well. He isn't a rookie and if Pittsburgh plays like they normally do they won't be totally vanilla and will be sending blitzes and playing more like a regular season game. The first few regular season games are against teams that may not be very good. So that might not be the best test depending on how NO plays.
  8. Can't wait to see how Darnold does against our preseason defensive opponents who were all in the top 10 last year with two of them in the top 3. That will be a huge test. If he struggles some that is expected but if he plays well, it could signal a big year ahead for Sam.
  9. With all of the players we got in the draft coupled with who we picked up in the offseason should give us enough depth to make it through.
  10. With an extra game to play with, it helps the odds. We could get to 8 wins and still have a losing record with 9 losses. If we had split our 1 score losses last year we would have won 8 games. With a better D and O I think they help us win some of those games in the fourth quarter we lost last year.
  11. No one cares about a long snapper until he screws up. With all the extra picks we got this year I am amazed about all the angst because we used it on a long snapper who never muffed a snap.in his college career. I think he makes the roster. If he doesn't start right away then that is simply due to how good Jansen is not a knock on Fletcher. He is the future.
  12. From what I have read Fletcher was the best LS in college and we wanted to make sure he wouldn't choose another team if he went undrafted so we used a 6th rounder on him. A guy who never had a bad snap in his college college starting all four years. For Alabama who was dominant last year. Versus a guard who was a high round prospect based on his talent who dropped due to injury concerns. We picked for need assuming that Jansen isnt the future and Fletcher makes the team. I would be unhappy if we try to stash him on the practice squad and he gets stolen like with Butker a while back. Then it becomes a wasted pick.
  13. Christensen hopefully doesn't play this year and sits while he learns the game and improves his technique. Starting rookies is always a big risk especially early. By the end of this year he can get reps and be ready next year. Let's see how he does in preseason before deciding what happens this year.
  14. Has nothimgto do with privlege. Racism by definition is about race. Tell me again how ragging an opposing fan in fun about their jersey is similar to hurling racial epithets. If you ate wearing a Patriot jersey or a Saints jersey I am not going to like you no matter what the color of the skin. I think you have prejudice and racism confused. You can be prejudiced about thousand of things like a fabric or an idea and not racist. Everyone is prejudiced about something. Not everyone is racist.
  15. Has nothing to do with the media. More about comparing two things that are only tangentially connected.
  16. Don't see the comparison at all. One is a race or nationality you are born into. Being a fan of a football team is a choice people make and can unmade. You don't make fun of someone about who they are but having some fun about a fan showing up at a Panther camp with an opposing jersey doesn't meet the definition of racist or a bigot. No one excluded the woman or was nasty. There are plenty of easy examples of racism to choose from but your post is a fail from beginning to end. Just sayin....
  17. That is stupid. Any coach worth their salt teaches that you don't knock the crap out of your own teammates. You save it for the opponent on game day. You can be physical without being reckless and that hit was reckless and over the top. Somehow equating this to politics and being weak just tells me how little you know about coaching football. Football is a violent sport but it is controlled violence with a purpose. The kid was a sacrificial lamb to make a point and teach a lesson that being stupid and out of control results in consequences. Rhule just showed what that could be.
  18. Horn doesn't have to change that much to be legal. Instead of grabbing and holding you do what Sherman often did which is tug and give little pulls which slows the receiver down but not change his direction or severely impede his movement. You don't wrap your arm all around his waist with your off hand when you go for the deflection, you put your arm on him but not so obviously. Hopefully one of the vets can help him be aggressive but less noticeable to the officials.
  19. I do too if he is the best guy we have at that position but we have all seen workout warriors who struggled to play as well as they train. Hopefully he is the real deal and immediately can contribute wherever he is needed. We have struggled to keep our lines healthy for some reason.
  20. Let's see what happens in the preseason games. All of those defenses were top 10 with 2 being top 3 last year. So let's see how the offense operates from starters down to backups and wanna bes. We wil have plenty of good looks and see both man and zone with lots of blitzing. We will see who the physical guys are who can hold their own and get separation.
  21. If you want to blame anyone for Teddy blame Brady. If I remember discussions from when Bridgewater was signed it was because Brady was lobbying for him after working with him for 2 years in New Orleans.
  22. You are right. Richardson helped pay for upgrades to the facilities which benefitted Wofford and also made it acceptable for training camp. So the facilities, location and few distractions made it ideal. Even the heat hardens you for September games which should be hotter on the field now that we replaced the grass with artificial turf.
  23. The whole we have to save space and not pick who we want is belied by NO who spends every year and fits everything under the cap. And because these contracts are transparent it isn't like everyone else couldn't do the same. Truth is we can bring in who we want and still have plenty for next year. I love how everyone acts like it was their money instead of Tepper who is a billionaire.
  24. It takes no insight to predict failure given he hasn't been successful while playing for the Jets. It takes a lot more insight and effort to evaluate the differences in his situation and predict potential or qualified success. If you are wrong and the team is doing well you can always point out anything that Darnold does wrong. If he sucks then you can post ad nauseum about how right you are and how you could read the tea leaves. So you can get off your high horse and stop acting as if you know something no one else does. You are just taking the safe easy position which takes no effort or insight at all.
  25. I thought that a big reason was Bridgewater didn't get better as the season unfolded. He failed to thrown it downfield even when it was wide open or it was the fourth quarter and we were behind. He didn't show urgency or any ability to rally the team. I imagine the negative press wasn't as big a deal as his big guaranteed salary.
