  1. I think we can patchwork our WR corps sans a true X WR this coming year. Hardman turns 25 on March 12th, so he's uber young and electric. Don't think he's a WR1, but can certainly be that TY Hilton....maybe a less productive Tyreek Hill as our #2. His help on special teams will be huge too. Let TMJ be our slot WR3. Young and hungry guys.
  2. Boze Foreman Hardman Moreau Draft Tillman or AT Perry for that big WR
  3. In the draft, Tillman, AT Perry look like good outside WRs. Downs would be a solid get too. In FA, we've been linked to Hardman and Campbell. Chark is out there, as well as Jourdan Rodrique mentioning Van Jefferson as a potential trade target. Van has ties to both Brown and WR coach Jefferson. I'd also bring in a TE like Moreau and draft the BPA TE at 39. I'm not freaking out this year because I think the plan is clear now to let '23 be the "reset" year. New coaches, rookie QB and dead cap to fall off. Clean up the mistakes in '23 and walk into '24 with a clean sheet. No need plunking down cash on older vets like Nuke and OBJ at their respective ages. Hardman is 24 years old.....Campbell is 25.....Jefferson is 26. Focus on 2024. We will have a boatload of cash available to be key players in FA. Draft smart this year and don't weigh ourselves down.
  4. This is intriguing....surely speculation, but what if. Get a little bit back from HOU to make sure they get "there guy" while we still get ours. No guarantee that HOU doesn't just take who they want, but if they REALLY want Young and we bluff it enough, they could take the bait.
  5. Loved the trade for the Jets last year, but don't know why he didn't get more burn. He wouldn't be my top choice, but wouldn't be disappointed if we ended up with him. Pair him with a bigger back like Charbonet or Roschon Johnson in the draft and we could be cooking with fire.
  6. Agreed. I don't advocate for giving up this kind of haul, but we won't be in this situation sitting in the top-10 for awhile. We've hit the reset button on 90% of the coaching staff, philosophy, style and scheme. Why not push our chips forward, go all-in and get Stroud/Young. Couldn't blame a new coaching staff that has no QB for doing this. We would have to give up more assets next year to move into the Williams/Maye/Penix conversation next year. Rip off the band-aid this year.
  7. Unsure what his $$ expectations and if his football IQ is enough for Reich/Brown/Special Ops guy, but he might be available this coming week. I'm guessing too rich for our blood, he wouldn't fit a Reich-style QB and probably looking to be a long-term starter somewhere.
  8. Any idea what Foster Moreau will get on the FA market? Josh Norris intrigued me with his thoughts on him and spent the last hour checking him out. 26 years old, put up 5 TDs his rookie year and was behind Waller in Vegas. I wonder if he can be a TE1 here in Reich's system. Seems like a balanced TE that can block as well as be a threat as a receiver. Can he be had on a reasonable deal and let others spend big on Schultz and Geisicki.
  9. I went down a Wentz rabbit hole when looking to see if he is similar to Levis. Found a great Peter King conversation that said after watching Foles win the ring that he set them up for, it really got under Wentz' skin. Wentz got them to 11-2 in his second year....with Reich as OC and Staley as RB coach. King went on to say that Wentz couldn't shake the Foles optics and began his mental breakdown. That along with the injuries, and he was never the same. So much of it is between the ears. Wentz was well on his way to being a perennial MVP candidate and leading his team to the postseason. How quickly things can shift.
  10. Given the age and hopeful addition of a young TE, I'd prefer Campbell or Slayton. I know we're also rumored for Hardman which I don't get other than ST. He'd be a WR3 here and seems to replicate a lot of what Laviska is good at.
  11. When I watch this clip of Wentz being drafted, it reminds me of the highlights of what makes Levis good. Almost verbatim for the out route throws and arm strength lighting up the field. Nearly identical collegiate stats both passing and rushing, though Levis turned it over more. https://youtu.be/WxBFpdue58A
  12. Does anyone also know why Levis transferred from Penn St to Kentucky? Was it that he couldn't beat out the previous QB1 or did he prefer to play in the SEC? I just feel that Penn St. would give you more exposure and props than UK would.
  13. They're estimating Jimmy G @ around $8M per after coming off a $7M year in '22. A guy that is more ready like Stroud or Young would probably only need a year of Jimmy G here. Someone like AR, Levis or Hooker might not be ready until the midpoint of '24. I would prefer Brissett, Minshew or Rush.
  14. For me, I think AR looked better last year in the same conference and is 2 years younger. I don't like Levis' feel for the pocket and his mechanics/feet need some clean up. I do see a lot of Wentz in Levis, so if Levis can play up to pre-injury Wentz, then we will be fine. Levis does seem like a Tepper (cockiness/confidence) and Reich (prototypical body and arm) kind of QB1. If we take Levis, I'll come around at some point and hope he does become pre-injury Wentz or Allen, and not Gabbert or Locker. QBs often have success in certain systems and with certain coaching staffs...let's hope if he is the choice, that this is the correct system for him to learn and thrive. Levis is my #4 and I put he and Hooker in the same tier...but that's just me.
  15. This or Zach Allen would be HUGE! I saw that Jones is going to get silly paid though....like $18M IIRC. I'm still driving the Khalen Saunders hidden gem bandwagon this FA. Would give us a young 3-4 DT with experience in a winning program and a lot cheaper.
  16. I trust Kunkel about as much as NFLRumors. How the hell anyone can look at the tape, stats and the combine workouts and put a gap betwen Levis and Stroud that favors Levis is full of poo. You're drafting Levis based on a coaching staff correcting footwork and mechanics and tapping into his physical prowess and upside....at 25 years old.
  17. To be fair, the dots being connected are pretty easy to align here. I hope Brissett is the bridge guy. We would've made the playoffs with him last year at QB and he will be able to run Reich's system, while mentoring the youngster.
  18. It is weird how many teams came out immediately to say that they weren't interested. Do I think it's a conspiracy to deny Lamar his bag....not sure. For me as a Panthers fan and/or if I put my GM cap on: If you grab your QB via a trade/FA and commit cap to him, you then are forced to pretty much build via the draft, so the upside is that you have draft capital to do so with. If you grab your QB via the draft, you lose picks, so you build around the QB on a rookie deal with the money you have in FA/trades. In this situation, you are giving up on both ends.....for a recently injured mobile QB....that would cost 20% of your cap. You have to add 54 other players with 80% of the cap.....and you're out two first round picks. We are not a Lamar Jackson away from winning it all, so for these reasons......
  19. In looking at round two and beyond, I think TE is #1 on my list. I assume Kincaid, Mayer and Washington will be first rounders, so that next tier is where I'm looking. As others pointed out, one of Musgrave, LaPorta, Kraft or Kuntz. A guy like Schoonmaker also had a great combine. I have a draft crush on two WRs as well - Cedric Tillman and AT Perry. Don't think either make it to our 3rd (assuming we give up the SF 2nd in a trade-up for QB).
  20. If Malik Willis was 6'4" 240, started only 13 games in the SEC, his hype train would've been higher. An undersized QB from Liberty hits different than a physical specimen with limited tape at Florida. I think people knew AR would own the combine's metrics, but not at the level that he ended up producing. He also crushed interview and in-person meetings....this was probably not as expected.
  21. This was a no brainer. Next up.... Shaq + Eflein $$ = Bozeman + Foreman/Jamaal Williams $$
  22. Absolutely is a combo of fluids, carbs, not going to the bathroom and muscle. I think on any given gameday, he comes in around 195. Maybe by year two or three he can be a legit 200-204 playing weight. I think this is part of the reason he didn't throw/participate in drills.
  23. Mannnnnnnn, if Carr goes down with a substantial injury, the Saints are screwed. This is very on-brand for them, so not surprised in the least, and kudos to Fitts & Co. for driving the price up.
  24. Truthfully, our #39 pick this year is more important to me than the '25 FRP in a package to move up to 1. If we can send the SF 2nd rounder, I'm fine with '24 FRP + '25 FRP to move up for Stroud. Tampa is picking 19th overall with an 8-9 record. We should be at the very least, NFCS Champs and a 9-8 record next year. In 2025, one would assume better....that pick should be early-mid 20s. No guarantees with draft picks in this area....at least not like in the top-10 nor a franchise QB. We need a top-flight TE at 39. Send the two future firsts, #9 and #60. Draft Stroud. Take the best TE at 39 and figure the rest out in the third round and FA. Re-sign Boze & Foreman - sign Rapp/JJIII and find a DL.
  25. To be fair, AR does a helluva job avoiding sacks. Cam, even at the end of his career, still had a problem sliding properly on QB runs.
