  1. Oh damn....yeah, no way Johnson brings in Flores given their history.
  2. I'm just not ready to turn the HC keys over to guys like Kafka and Dorsey. I think they're good, but not quite there yet for HC timelines. If Kafka doesn't get hired this cycle and the NYG continue to do what they did in '23, I can see him being the Steichen/Johnson of 2024 OCs.
  3. I also like the TE out of SDSU and he can be had in round two. It's not D1, but the kid has a lot of promise. Getting a Goedert/Henry vibe from him. Huge need, but do not want to use a top-20 pick on a TE.
  4. I do like this being talked about more with the young OCs. We're all beating Wilks up for NEEDING to bring the ideal OC/DC along with him in order to succeed, but these younger, less experienced OCs need to be held to the same standard. Joseph would be ideal....I really want Flores as our DC if possible. I do think Johnson would reach out to Luke to come coach the LBs or maybe in an Asst. DC role with the hope that he would eventually be our DC a la Demeco Ryans was. Would love for Johnson to bring both Staley and Brunell with him on offense. Hoping he retains Campen from the leftovers.
  5. This is the style of offense I want. Aggressive, using scheme and motion to keep DCs baffled and not afraid to keep his foot on the gas. They traded Hockenson and their TE2/TE3 put up 8TDs and this is the best Goff has looked in the NFL. What it's going to come down to, IMO, is how much of the LIons' offensive success is Johnson vs. Campbell and can Johnson be a HC vs. an OC.
  6. Lots of questions and no easy path for Tepper. Hire Wilks - who's the OC? DC? Lynn/Flores would be the expectation. Johnson probably follows Steichen. Caldwell could work, but also wonder if the game has changed too much for him to take us to the next level. Hire Steichen/Johnson - who's the DC? Can these creative OCs with no HC experience run a locker room/team? Hire Reich - Is he HC material or a better coordinator? Last few years in Indy were not great. After Rhule....you can't mess this up.
  7. I think all three are gone by 9. QB needy teams will identify us as a team to get in front of if they want a QB, so if one is falling from 5 on, I would imagine we get leapfrogged at 7 or 8. IF we want one of Stroud/Young/Levis, I think we have to move up with AZ. If we could hold out to move up to pick 5, the assets we would have to give up would probably only be #9, our SF second rounder, a day three pick maybe this year, and maybe a 2024 3rd or 4th round pick. I would hedge my bets that two QBs go in the top 4 and then we move up to 5 for our new QB. We still get to keep our 2nd round selection to add a starter. Personally, I'd rather draft Johnston at 9, and add two more starters in round 2. Grab a TE for Corral and find a dance partner for Burns or Woods with the other selection.
  8. Who would Wilks tab for his OC & DC? I think Campen and Tabor stay, but clean house on most other position coaches. These hires would have to be a make or break for Wilks. I just don’t know connections or who Wilks would like. A guy like Brian Johnson probably follows Steichen….maybe Bevell in MIA gets another opportunity to be OC?
  9. Q Johnston at 9 and then trade the SF 4th for Love.
  10. I would say sh*tting the bed at home against PIT, blowing a 14-point lead because you’re conservative against the GOAT with the division on the line and escaping NO with the ugliest win I’ve seen in a loooooong time.
  11. McDaniel-Bevell-Flores would be a coup and bring long-term success here.
  12. Brilliant offensive mind with a Shanny influence - check Helped improve/mold young QB - check NFL HC experience - check I can't see Miami doing this, but if it is done, he has to be the top candidate for us. Let's all be Jets fans this weekend, so the Phins will finish 8-9....and add some more fuel to this fire.
  13. I don't know what kind of plan a HC/DC game plans for having your CB3 and CB4 starting against Evans & Godwin, with the GOAT at the helm of a home game to decide the division against a heated rival. JNo was there, but if he got torched, then fans would clown the HC for playing a "barista off the streets" against Evans and Godwin. I do think there should've been adjustments made to help the overwhelmed secondary, I just don't know what that would've been given who we're going against. Sh*tting the bed against PIT was a blemish on Wilks. Blowing a 14 point lead in the 2Q with the season on the line is tough. The second of the two 4th and 1 punts might be the nail in the coffin for me. This game reeked of the previous Fox/Rivera conservative call style. Playing not to lose vs. going for the jugular and seizing the W early on is foreshadowing to what the next 2-3 years of Wilks could look like. Winning at SEA in December and bouncing back to dominate DET also speak to what a Wilks coached team would look like. If Horn is healthy, we beat TB....no doubt. You swap the ATL loss to a W if not for the helmet penalty and Wilks as the HC from week one, and we're probably a 9-8/10-7 playoff team.
  14. Steichen + Brian Johnson makes me happy. I don't know who Johnson would bring from Motown, but I'm confident that Brian Johnson will be a HC very, very soon as well. Draft Darnold someone like Johnston or Mayer in that offensive scheme and I think we are playoff ready year 1 of the new regime. Johnston-DJ-TMJ-Shenault is a nasty foursome.
  15. Chicago will name their price for Carolina to jump Indy....and maybe even Vegas.
  16. Can't hurt. 6'1" 200-lb, 25 year old CB that played his entire rookie season. Injuries ruined the past two years for him. If his style fits, can't be a bad depth option.
  17. Wilkes is earning his HC position if he gets it. Much needed win before the bye week @ home Signature win @ SEA after the bye week Signature L @ home vs PIT Bounceback W @ home vs DET @ TB - Wilkes will need to show his defensive prowess and get the troops rallied after being down CB1 and CB2 against the GOAT with the division on the line. @ NO - road game against a hated rival to potentially enter the playoffs or go home. Mannnnnnn, that ATL/DJ helmet game is looming large right now. Pretty confident Eddy drills the PAT from normal distance.
  18. Don't know Tepper's thinking, but I think if Wilks gets us into the postseason, he's our HC. If we miss the playoffs, he will look to hire one of the young OCs and/or take one more hail mary at an uninterested (supposedly) Sean Payton. If Wilks was the HC from game one, we're a playoff team, IMO. I also don't think the potential candidates that will be available for HC are head and shoulders above Wilks. As long as McAdoo isn't his OC, I think we will be a very good team in two years.
  19. CJ - Taylor - Carrie will get torched. If they are serious about the playoffs, I wonder if there's any FA with familiarity in Wilks's system with a guy like Cockrell or maybe a vet from the area like Breeland.
  20. Isn't Blackshear a returner? That has to be the last time Shi is in that role....Tabor is too smart for this.
  21. I think Payton's ego puts him in a potential team like LAC or DAL if they collapse. Both have QBs that Payton can hang his hat on like he did with Brees. Only way he comes to Carolina is if Tepper gives him crazy money and have a QB in the crosshairs to come here. Tack on the rumor that Glazer said earlier that Payton wouldn't want to come to CLT. I'm okay with it too....do not want to give up a first round selection for him.
  22. I love our three-headed monster right now. All bring a different dimension and keeps them each fresh for 4 quarters. Also very young overall. I'd love to re-sign Foreman to a team-friendly 2 or 3 yr deal. I also believe that we can find a gem in rounds 2 or 3 of the draft and/or free agency. TLDR; Foreman is ideal, don't want to overpay another RB though.
  23. Much like RR, I like Wilks the man. I think he would be a great DC, but too reminiscent of Rivera/Fox as a HC. That style of play is a lot harder to equate to success in the current NFL. I too had hopes for Wilks if he went on a run and showed that he learned from his AZ days. One game does not make/break him, but losing to PIT was not a good look. If he can run the tables and get us into the post-season, I think he gets the job. If not, on to the next shiny toy. Johnson, Steichen, Reich make the most sense.
