  1. I agree, and this is why I was so disappointed when Brown was a healthy scratch (inactive) yesterday.
  2. Little early to look ahead but put everything we've got into stopping 41 and see what Jamies can do.
  3. Run/Pass balance in 1st half play calling versus second half play calling. % of first down passes called in the 1st half versus the 2nd half. Query: does the data support that Brady went into 'clock-ball' in the second half.
  4. I thought they should have called out the U.N.C. He didn't look right immediately after that hit.
  5. I'm not sharing this to take anything away from Shaq's performance yesterday, but just to say Luvu deserves some love, too.
  6. This was great to see yesterday. Also: Translation: Rookie CB Jaycee Horn gave up 1 catch for 10 yards on 3 targets in his NFL debut. Horn also had 3 tackles, 2 of which were solo. The one reception was a TD from WR Corey Davis on a beautiful pass from QB Zach Wilson:
  7. They were playing the Chiefs. You better pull out everything you've got. (and hope your punter can catch a snap...)
  8. Only conclusion I drew was that Jets didn't ruin Darnold. It looks like he could still be a competent QB. We'll know more next week because he's gonna have to do more next week against a good NO defense.
  9. Berry likes Sam Darnold as a fantasy sleeper https://es.pn/3mS6fYJ
  10. Part of my day job is enforcing Executive Orders. They can only effect the management of the Federal government. They are applied to Federal employees and contractors, but EOs aren't law for the general population. Laws for the general population is the job of the Legislative Branch, i.e. Congress.
  11. Let us state your premise clearly: Michael Vick did not "change the game". This is something of a nebulous statement. That said, I would offer the following evidence that indicates something did in fact change in regard to rushing the football from the QB position between Vick's rookie year of 2001 and last season (2020). Causation here could be argued (was this changed because of Vick) but the change is clearly evident in the data. Our metric here will be rushing attempts by a QB. This will include both scrambles and called runs. The data shows at that from 2001 to 2020, the number of QBs with more than 80 rushing attempts over a season increased by 250%. But that's just the top rushing QBs, the players many might label as "dual-threat". League wide (so taking the top 30 QBs), the average number of rushing attempts by a QB has increase by ~25%. Details: In Vick's rookie season of 2001, there were 2 quarterbacks who topped 80 rushing attempts: Kordell Stewart, and Aaron Brooks. The average number of rushing attempts for a QB (using the top 30 QBs in rushing attempts) was 47.167. In 2020, there were 7 quarterbacks who had more than 80 rushing attempts: Jackson, Newton, Murray, Allen, Watson, Hill, Wilson. The average number of rushing attempts for a QB (using the top 30 QBs in rushing attempts) was 58.7.
  12. I've been an NFL fan most of my life, and I'm a lot closer to 50 than I'd like to admit. I was always a casual fan until I got a 'home team'. One representing my home stat of South Carolina (and North Carolina as well - Two States. One Team.) Last night's game was a ton of fun. I had a great time. The game is going to go through cycles as people adapt to the meta. Right now, the meta seems to be favoring spread offense and passing a disproportionate amount of the time. Maybe some team comes along and figures they counter the meta with ground and pound. Whatever is successful will get copied until it becomes the new meta and then someone will come up with a counter and round and round we go.
  13. Did you see Vita Vea tonight? Be that disruptive. No rushing lanes, always pushing the pocket, and a key 3rd down pickup as the blocking fullback.
  14. I don't want to think about Vita Vea versus Paradis or Elflein.
  15. 1. Sam has never played all 16 games and now the season is 17 games long. 2. The Panthers have a questionable offensive linemen at C, both OGs, and LT. 3. PJ is currently the back up quarterback. The backup starts if the starter is hurt. Chances PJ starts a game?
  16. This take could age incredibly poorly, but TB isn't some unbeatable juggernaut. They brought back all 22 starters. Awesome. The same 22 starters that got pushed to the absolute brink by Ron Rivera and Taylor Heinicke. The same 22 starters that were 7-5 including a loss to a Nick Foles led Bears team, and 2 losses to a Saints team with Drew Brees already halfway out the door of retirement.
  17. Week one is probably the hardest. You only have the vaguest notions of who any of these teams will be. Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers W W Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills W W Minnesota Vikings @ Cincinnati Bengals W San Francisco 49ers @ Detroit Lions W Arizona Cardinals @ Tennessee Titans W Seattle Seahawks @ Indianapolis Colts Los Angeles Chargers @ Washington Football Team W New York Jets @ Carolina Panthers W W Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs W Miami Dolphins @ New England W W Green Bay Packers @ New Orleans Saints Denver Broncos @ New York Giants W Chicago Bears @ Los Angeles Rams W W Baltimore Ravens @ Las Vegas Raiders
  18. Typical year over year delta in win total is +/- 4. With the longer season, this number may start to stretch to 5. There are outliers, of course, but most teams will change their win/loss record by a maximum of 4 games per year which gives the Panthers a range of 1-17 to 9-8.
  19. Coverage maps won't get posted until Wednesday, September 8.
  20. Panthers jump out to a fast 10-0 lead, and go into halftime up 20-7 after allowing a last minute TD drive by the Jets. Rhule takes the air out of the ball in the second half, having Brady call running play after running play into a stacked box. The Jets crawl back and pull within two. With less than two minutes to go, Brian Burns gets a strip sack of Wilson with the Jets on the Panthers 36 yard line and the Panthers hold on for a 23-21 'victory'.
  21. I'm seeing more similarities between Rhule and Ron than I like. Rhule (possibly influenced by Snow) has demonstrated some of the same "defensive minded head coach" qualities.
