  1. When you hear folks talking him up from the team it isn’t dismissed but it does get discounted because they have to rally around the team and “say the right thing”. But everyone seems to be consistent in what they say about BY regarding his demeanor and the presence he has. Don’t want to be overly excited but it’s damn hard not to be. Thanks a lot for the detailed observations.
  2. I think Payton is simply grabbing money now. He talks a lot but I feel as though his heart won’t be in it. I wish him good health but I look forward to seeing him fail miserably.
  3. Back to the topic, Although I only have second hand knowledge and did go to Spartanburg today, nothing has jumped out as a red flag for BY. It’s early but one day in the books and he looks every bit the part. Does not seem as though he is drinking from a fire hydrant at the moment.
  4. The staff is setup nicely for a guy like BY. Reich is a former QB and spent many years in the league as has McCown. Caldwell is another huge asset that has been around the block. Add Dalton's perspective to the mix and you have a very good foundation for a QB that resembles a sponge in terms of studying the nuances of the position and offense. These guys will have a good barometer of how much is too much. Again, not saying this will be an instant dynasty and he will likely have his share of growing pains, but there is no reason not to be optimistic about the future.
  5. Yes I was in the midst of posting a similar reply. I’ll go with this
  6. I don’t think the coaches are putting too much on his plate but I believe mant fans have unrealistic expectations out of the gate. He has the skills and intelligence o be successful but I don’t think it will be in the form of a first year dynasty. I think the comment from Tepper was just saying you don’t need to break the bank on top dollar FA offensive weapons if you have an elite QB. The FO and coaches know we need good WRs one also know this group has no clear #1. I think the team believes Marshall and/or Mingo excel this year, otherwise BY gets by with the mediocrity this season and it’s hopefully addressed next off-season
  7. Rich people are poor people with money. Doesn't make it any less annoying though
  8. The last time I had good Bojangles was a tailgate special before an NC State football game in the 90s. I think it was before the internet…. damn I’m old.
  9. Not sure. Just looking forward to seeing him and Corral.
  10. I think this is a reasonable assessment. But with Burns many people are only looking at what he doesn’t have or bring to the table. I think the naysayers should be looking at what you lose if you don’t sign him. Maybe not perfect but you can’t go to the Defensive End store and get someone with all those superlatives gift wrapped to plug into a roster. It’s not settling or overpaying it’s just what the market is for current elite players at that position. Burns will get every penny he is worth either here or elsewhere. Based on the offer the organization turned down I would bet it’s going to be here. Folks have to deal with it.
  11. BY and his agent want to maximize his income. Rightfully so. The Panthers organization want to minimize risk. Rightfully so. Both groups need the contract signed and have BY in camp on time. The sausage making will get done this week because it is in everyone’s best interest to do so.
  12. What would you expect from the people that faked a moon landing. /s
  13. I hope the folks in N.O, Atlanta and TB grow to hate BY as much as we hated Brees, Ryan and Brady. That’ll be a true measure of success.
  14. Don’t blame BY for negotiating. Don’t blame the org for it either. Just business. But it will get done.
  15. I remember that fiasco. Used to visit Smack forum to read SCP abuse that Alice dude. Such fond memories of the good old days.
  16. As a player, he’s got a bit of a mean streak in him.
  17. I think maybe he needs to play a snap or two for me to have any definite opinions. Maybe even win a game? I’m very enthusiastic about him but I just want to give him time to settle in a bit.
  18. I think it was mixed but personally I was happy the team was trying to do something. I don’t think many were really excited about BM, they were just excited to have something to hope for. but yeah it was rhule so it was just the next train wreck.
  19. A head coach Micromanaging PR on a professional sports team classifies as worrying about things that don’t matter, Matt. I feel a bit purified too. Good riddance.
  20. Take that poll after young makes a (run of the mill, every rookie goes through this) mistake in practice and I suspect your results will be way different. Personally I’m very optimistic but it’s gonna take some time to fully come together. Good to be excited for this team again.
  21. Haven’t paid much attention yo defense as it has been overshadowed by new toys on the other side of the ball. But yes it will be interesting to see. I have questions on who compliments Burns and how our backfield shakes out. Not overly concerned (yet) but I hope Horn/DJax are healthy and ready to go.
