Dark Horse Candidate at 28: Xavier Su'a Filo

Recommended Posts

One heck of a guard from UCLA. I wouldn't be too excited about this pick if it happened but he passes the "big men allow you to compete" test and could very likely be the best player available at 28 regardless of position.

We don't know how Amini will come back from injury and the right side guard position is up in the air. I'm not really in favor of taking a guard this high but he could come in and really get the running game going and be a dominant offensive linemen for a long time.

If we are building from the inside out, Silatolu-Kalil-Su'a Filo is a dang good interior line going forward. I want an OT or WR in the first just as much as anyone else but depending on how the draft unfolds, Su'a Filo could very well be the best player and highest rated on or board. All-pro potential at #28 can't be overlooked.

Considering the opportunity cost of drafting a guard along with the monetary cost of said guard, let alone him being a rookie, I would be pissed if we drafted a guard in the first round.

I would literally be happier with any other position besides maybe center. There are plenty of experienced guards that would be relatively cheap and give you the same or better impact right away...and wouldn't cost a first round pick.

I would love Su'a-Filo. For the people who think that he's just another guard have never seen him play. The guy is a beast.

While he wouldn't be my first option there, I wouldn't mind it all.

Is he still a guard??

Even if he's the best guard in the NFL immediately, would you trade a first round draft pick for the best guard in the NFL? I know I wouldn't.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pats win it all or at least get there. Maye is awesome.
    • Young quarterbacks Drake Maye, Bo Nix, and Bryce Young have led their teams to undefeated records since October.   Drake Maye has guided the New England Patriots to a 5-0 record in that period, with 2,285 passing yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games. Bo Nix has directed the Denver Broncos to a 5-0 stretch, throwing for 1,976 yards and 17 touchdowns, contributing to a 7-2 overall start. Bryce Young, in his second season, has led the Carolina Panthers to a 4-0 run since October, accumulating 1,390 yards and 11 touchdowns amid a 4-4 record.   Undefeated QBs since start of October (min. 4 starts)   Drake Maye 5-0 Bo Nix 5-0 Bryce Young 4-0   Bryce Young when asked about his mindset during game winning drives: "You don’t rise to the occasion you fall back to the level of your training."
    • 1. Cowboys-No explanation needed. 2. Rest of NFC South equally. If I had to pick I would say Falcons.    3. Eagles- Both of the games I have attended there the fans were so horrible. The fan base is so ridiculously misbehaved, I’ve never seen such immaturity. 4- Lions- I have cousins in Michigan that grew up Lions fans and they are some of the most obnoxious people I have ever met, as are all of their Lions buddies. The NFL has been lucky that Detroit has been in the cellar for its eternity.    5. Tie between Bears and Vikings. Both act like Steelers, Cowboys, Niners fans do with nostalgia and legendary seasons but neither have ever really had them. They act like they each won 5 super bowls in previous decades but never accomplished poo outside of Chicago in 85.
