how many doughnuts is too many?

I do cognitive behavioral therapy on myself for doughnuts. Mentally, I categorize them in the same group with cheesecake and chocolate mousse. I allow myself to have them occasionally as a special treat. You're doomed once you start thinking of them as a breakfast food. The benefit of only having them once in a blue moon is when you have them, it's much more enjoyable, and you savor it much more than just cramming a half dozen or so down your neck hole like they're dime bags during a drug raid.

I did the same thing with high end scotch. Now it's a special reward for myself rather than pain-go-bye-bye-juice.

this is like arguing whether McDonalds or BK makes a better burger. They're both poo. You don't know what a donut is until you've had the pure donut perfection that is Stan's Donuts in Santa Clara. handmade by Jesus himself...well he could be named Juan or Pedro, but he has donut powers from beyond this world.

You know not of what you speak.

Hot KK are amazing and truly do melt in your mouth.  I do like DD as well though, but they do tend to be like a day or two old by the time they go on sale.  I had heard they ship them frozen, and that would explain why they are always a bit stale and only last a day or so past the purchase day...unlike KK that is soft as pillows when purchased and last for almost a week.

With that said, I remember going to a DD many years ago (like almost 30) that made them fresh every four hours.  We used to make doughnut runs at 4:00 am, and those were like a piece of heaven.  I wish DD would start making them fresh in their stores again, it's tragic how they treat them now.
