2 Key Things Regarding Kony Ealy

Moses plays to high for a guy his size. I don't see him doing much in the league, I'm glad we passed in him, was never a fan

If Easy pans out it will be the best pick of the draft just because pass rushers are so valuable.

I still like Moses, it'll be interesting to see how these picks pan out. Polian did note he had 2 major flaws, played high in the run game and he was a waist bender in the passing game, he called them serious flaws that needed to be fixed for him to succeed.

However, Polian also drafted Collins, Biakabatuka and Carruth as 1st rounders for Carolina so its not like he never gets it wrong.

True, but there has to be a major reason why a guy of his size fell that far when some regarded him as a late 1st rounder. I even heard we had 0 interest in Moses, sort of a red flag since you know we evaluated him thoroughly. Like you said, it'll be interesting to see how these picks pan out in the near future. Hopefully We'll be on the better end.

You could say the same think about Ealy tho. Many questioned taking him at 28 when the whole Blue Goose thing started, he fell to 60. Why?

Moses only went 6 picks later.

No, that's really not possible because 1. CJ and Hardy are both very very good and I can say with supreme confidence they're way better than any second round rookie, and 2. We're paying them both a boatload of money.

But I guess since I don't believe in drafting rotational backups in the second round when our franchise QB has been all but neglected for 3 years, that means I don't watch.

Again, you can rationalize it however you want, I never said he wouldn't see snaps. We drafted a backup with no chance to push for a starting job in the second round.

Ealy could be the greatest DE in the history of the NFL, he could also be so bad he's cut before preseason.  Fact is nobody knows. No such thing as it being "impossible" to win a starting position.

KK was a rotational backup last year.  He played a ton of snaps and facerolled people.  I have no problem with another second rounder doing the exact same thing.  The term "starter" in the NFL means less the better your depth is.  Who is our starting runningback when both are healthy?  Does it really matter when they get equal carries?

Sure Cam has poor options as tackles, but pressure coming up the middle is generally where Cam is getting killed, not from the edges.  It is going to be risky for teams to constantly stack 8 in the box against us with KB in the mix, despite his inconsistencies he is not someone you want to leave in one on one coverage.

You can never, ever, never, ever, ever, ever have enough pass rushers.  It's impossible.

Paraphrasing G-man.

Some people were surprised when KC took the best pure pass rusher remaining with their 1st round pick (#23 overall) because (they said) KC didn't "need" him.

But KC took Dee Ford for the same reasons we picked Kony Ealy: future salary cap considerations and leverage.  And because, as Fan01 says above, you can never, ever, ever, ever, ever have enough pass rushers.  (Plus, additionally for KC, Tamba Hali is getting up there in years and has had recent health problems.)

I guess we'll find out when they're starting for another team. This is just not a QB friendly organization. Sucks for Cam.

I understand you think the draft is for need need need need need.

And that you think the OL as it is today will be the OL as it is on opening Sunday.

I think you're gonna be hugely surprised when its not.

You only think that because you're trying to be positive and avoid stress. The OL is not going to magically become good minus their starting LT(Gross). Neither will the WRs.

I didn't say it would magically become good.

I did say it will be different than the static OL that you seem to think it will remain.  And, after it is different, it MIGHT be better.  Or not.

I thought we would lean toward need unless the by far and away BPA was at another position. I think this was one of those circumstances. While we don't have an immediate need at DE, we will have a need there after this season because we can't keep having our cap space hugely limited due to DE contracts. One of Hardy or CJ is gonna be gone after this season. Ealy is going to be groomed to take that guy's spot.

Didn't KB have this same issue? Scouts poo talking his personality? "He was a widdle sleepy babby and refused to work out for a scout because he's a piece of crap."

Do you think it's actually our scouts planting this poo to help these guys fall to us?

    • I'm gonna go ahead and assume Walker is out. So, I'll go Niki.
    • I wouldn't be mad if we were losing by 1 or 2 and the games were hard hitting tightly contested games. I'd be frustrated and upset about losing, but I wouldn't be mad.    Right now I'm pissed, Rod's decision making, his system of play, the consistent bad results in the conference finals. Then the team comes out at home and gets plastered 10-2 in the first two games... Yeah I'm mad at the results on the ice
    • Man it’s not even about losing to the Panthers again, it’s how they are losing that makes me think a coaching change is needed. Florida is physical, got into the player’s heads, and it’s the coach’s job to get his players ready to play. Brindamour has failed miserably in the Conference Championship 3 times now. The Hurricanes look like they don’t even belong in the playoffs let alone in the conference championship game. If these games were close like in 2023 we’d be frustrated but not embarrassed and that’s the difference in a coach keeping or losing their job.
