Third Day Thoughts

The draft is coming to a close and we now have Mike Evans, V-Jax, ASJ, Jimmy Graham and Julio Jones in our division. Thats some serious height. One of these names will be in eight of our games this season, obviously. This needs to be addressed and planned for. Gettleman stated he wanted an OL/DE/WR and CB in this draft. I think with our fourth round pick you will see us take Keith McGill, he would be BPA and a position of need. Wouldn't be shocked to see us take another CB later in the draft. Seems only logical to address the height in our division.

How say you football fans?

I'm here to pound the table for Carlos fields, Jr. take this man in the sixth round. He will eventually replace TD.

Keek, Klein and fields will be straight NASTY.

Also hoping for Desir/Fleming/Bryant in the fourth and Hurst in the fifth.

WEAKNESSES: Often lines up with his hips open, helping him turn more efficiently to run downfield with receivers. Often sneaks in a strong pop on the receivers deep downfield, which could earn him holding penalties in the NFL. While physically imposing, McGill shows only average toughness, too often hand-fighting with smaller receivers' blocks downfield rather than aggressively defeating them and attacking the ballcarrier.

A bit hesitant when forced to break down and make tackles in the open field and can resort to lunging attempts at arm tackles rather than driving through the ballcarrier. Only fair hands for the interception and will occasionally drop easy picks (Arizona State).

Missed as many games as he played while at Utah, losing the final eight games of the 2011 season due to a shoulder injury and rehabbing the entire 2012 campaign following surgery to correct the issue.

I posted this theory to reddit, my sources are almost as good as NJPanthers12

David Gettleman is going to be skyping in today. I have a strong theory that the following will occur in real time. Somewhere a man wearing a fake moustache is pacing slowly around Bank of America Stadium. He will find his entry and walk straight to the war room.

In round 4 he will casually suggest his highest ranked player is a RB, and in round 5, and 6 and 7. Without Gettle there and Riverboat Ron too hungover from gambling all night, the scouts will listen to this man and his fake moustache. Suddenly, after round 7 and 4 straight RBs taken, Rivera will stir "Hmm I've smelled that before"

Rivera's football instincts take over, and he hunts down the man like a lion stalking a weak gazelle. Tearing off the moustache he reveals none other than......Marty Hurney!!!

Security will pull Hurney away, as he kicks and screams he will plead, "I can save you! I will save you Panther! I love you Panther!"

Rivera will shed a single tear.

    • I dont care as long as he plucks the ball out of the air like he did in college, maybe it will rub off on XL and make him up his game too.
    • My boy: My wife has been cheating on me and I have proof! Here, look at these texts where she's congratulating some other man on how well he pounded her out like she'd never experienced before to the point he rearranged her IUD! I'm gonna post these texts on social media for the whole world to see! Me:
    • I still think it's too soon to say last year's draft was bad. I think those who do are the eternal pessimists. We had 4 players who contributed last season. Two were starters. It's possible all 4 are starters this season. How is that a bad draft? I know it's because our roster was so bad but still, they are on this roster so it's the only one that counts.  Before I say it's a bad draft I prefer to wait and see how they play this season. It's possible we may have FIVE starters from that draft playing the season. Anyone who thinks drafting 5 starters by season two is a bad draft should visit a psychiatrist where they can get a prescription to help them live happier lives.    I'm not saying it was a success yet but I damn sure ain't calling it a failure yet. Most players don't make it. Most of those who do need a little time. One season isn't enough time which is why they are still on the team Leggete, Coker (UDFA but still we got him), Sanders, Smith-Wade and Wallace all showed promise last season. If they all take a step forward then it was a great draft. If only 1 does than it was an average draft. If they regress then and only then will I say it was a bad draft.  Fans often have unreasonable expectations compared to the reality of draft results. I believe this draft will shine as I think it's going to better due to the depth of the class but I also believe we will look back at 2024 and say that was a good class too. I think we have 5 players from that class who will be starters or rotational pieces for the next couple of years at least. That's a win.
