Does talent trump trouble?

I am all for giving a person a second chance if he does his part to reform. This off season has been a circus between S.S.F.A and now this mess.I do believe G.H has a substance abuse problem( and yes, alcohol is what I mean). Definitly A..A is in order and counseling also.If he can change the course of his life then a contract offer with provisions of conduct would be reasonable. All the posts of booze on Twitter shows what he does in his down time.Stay out of the bars, get help for the addiction problem and grow up.He is on the cusp of flushing his career down the toilet.Hopefully there is no conviction and he gets it together. The guy has talent but is a problem child. What do you all think???? A second chance if he proves he is serious about football and a contract offer protecting the club or just cut ties regardless?

I really don't know what to make of this situation. I'm tired of being "guilty by media" so I will wait until some facts come out. All we know is Greg is arrested and don't know the feel story. Some of the post I have stayed away from because we are so quick to judge without knowing the truth. I'm not sure really why he has to go to AA. It could have been because when cops arrived both Greg and the woman were intoxicated which I don't think warrants meetings but what do I know. There may be more instants not reported. I would hope that he is innocent and he gets to clear his name without a shadow of the doubt so we can move on from this. There isn't anything wrong with going to bars and posting drinks on twitter. Now if an individual has a true issue with letting go alcohol then yes they should get some help. There is this fellow in my city that was known to have a problem with alcohol. He was a great guy and I chatted with him a few times. Well, recently he passed and they believe it was from his alcohol issue. Just my two cents

I wish some of you people would come off your high horses.  OMG Greg Hardy went to a club and was drinking.    You expect him to sit at home and fuging knit some sweaters?  There is nothing wrong with an athlete or celebrity doing the same legal things we all do.  You may need to do some research on what an addiction to alcohol really is.  Drinking when your out having a good time is not an addiction.  Alcoholics normally dont advertise they they are alcoholics.  Hes just young and showing off, impressing his internet friends on instagram etc.  Unless you know him personally and see his actions on a daily basis dont assume someone has a fuging alcohol addiction.

I couldn't have said it better myself. People are acting like he has a problem because he is going out on a tuesday night. Well, guess what, this is the off season and if I didn't have to work the next day and I was invited to a party, I am there lol. Even then, after work on a weekday *gasp*, I may grab a couple cold ones and relax.  Good post though man

Look, everyone has issues. Everyone. When these issues start to interfere with your daily life (relationships, career, etc) then it becomes a problem. It may just be he has extremely poor decision making skills that lead him to surround himself with crazy people. Either way, it needs to be addressed. He is a hugely talented guy, quirky to say the least, but hopefully it will all work out. Jerry just doesn't play when it comes to this stuff.

The guy has a problem with alcohol.  Anyone who denies this fact may have as well.

you are making judgements and assumptions based purely on what you have seen portrayed by the media.  you dont know Hardy.  Saying poo like that is ignorant.  Not sure if you actually listened to the 911 call but Hardy didnt exactly sound drunk.  actually he was quite clear spoken and coherent.  Drunk people with an addiction to alcohol dont normally do those things.  You think hardy would be able to hide an alcohol addiction from the panthers then your fuging bat poo crazy.  If they thought at all he had an addiction to alcohol, they would have never tagged him.

If a judge sentences you to AA 3 times per week, it's more than "he was hanging out with friends and is fine".

Since Hardy was intoxicated when this happened(they both were), that's a pretty standard court order. That doesn't mean he's an alcoholic.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
